This was recommended by the sales rep over the cheaper version. I am not sure what the cheaper version would have sounded like, but this soundbar and subwoofer are amazing. I have it in my living room, mounted above the mantel with cathedral ceilings and you litterally think there are things moving behind you, even though I don't have any rear speakers. Truly amazing.

I did get the LG soundbar and subwoofer $599 SALE (LG SL8YG). It adds so much more depth to the sound of the tv. Truly creates 3D sound where you swear there is a speaker behind you.
