Two classic horror films in one sweet steelbook package! I've lost count how many times I've bought these films over the years and this package was still worth the money. Get it while you can.

A thoughtful science fiction film that eschews flashy effects and spectacle for intriguing concepts about the nature of humanity. This is the best this film has looked outside of being projected on 35mm film. An easy recommendation.

Let's get this out of the way, the 4k version of District 9 offers some improvements over the blu ray but due to the way it's constructed and the amount of digital effects that were created at a 2k resolution for the film, it's not the best showcase for the format. It does offer delightful color imporvements thanks to HDR. That said, fans of Neil Blomkamp's allegorical debut sci-fi feature will gleefully lap up the improvements in presentation. It's an excellent film and one of the best science fiction films of the 2000s without a doubt.

There has never been a more watchable and enjoyable military recruiting effort than Top Gun. This tale of Navy pilots attending an elite school for dogfighting at the tail end of the cold war is sexy, cool, funny and thrilling. I loved this film when I was six years old an revisiting it in my 30s didn't diminish how much I enjoyed it. The 4k presentation is excellent and mercifully faithful to what it must have been like to see it in theaters. Highly recommended.

The 4k format really helps the colors of Tim Burton's early films shine. This is a true original whose tone and humor are really only similar to Burton's other work and perhaps the partnership of Jean Pierre Junet and Marc Caro. If you don't already own Beetlejuice this is the version to have and if you already own it and it's a favorite, it's worth the upgrade.
Set in 1954, Martin Scorsese's psychological thriller stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a U.S. marshal sent to investigate the disappearance of a patient from an asylum for the criminally insane located on an isolated island. But nothing is what it seems as DiCaprio finds himself embroiled in a labyrinthine mystery involving mind-control experiments, forcing him to wonder if he's really who he thinks he is. Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, Mark Ruffalo, Patricia Clarkson also star. Based on the novel by Dennis Lehane. 137 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English. Two-disc set.

Shutter Island is the kind of thriller which I thought had died in the late 90s early 2000s, the final nail in the coffin being diven in by crap like Gothika. Then comes Marty Scorsese and his pal Leonardo DiCaprio aided by excellent supporting players like Max Von Sydow to show everyone how to make a mind bending thriller. This 4k presentation is excellent--this is the perfect film to showcase the power of HDR.

The Peanutbutter Falcon is the story of a young man living in an institution with down syndrome whose path collides with another young man played by Shia LeBouff as they embark on a journey together to realize the young man with down syndrome's dream of becoming a professional wrestler. It's a funny and heartwarming film that never feels too schmaltzy nor does it condescend its lead character. This is a gem that is worth anyone's time and this blu ray offers a great presentation and is generally too affordable to pass up!

There are a number of scene burned into my memory from Requiem for a Dream on DVD almost 20 years ago and now I get to revisit Darren Aronofsky's highly influential sophomore feature and really soak in the misery without restraints on resolution and color depth. This film follows a group of drug addicts and chronicles their horrendous downfall. While its premise may seem decidedly square, Aronofsky's craft really makes an impact and makes this film worth revisiting. It's never looked or sounded better and the price is right.

Once again we have a classic film offered with upgraded image and video quality that makes it the must own version. This disc offers an audio commentary, a retrospective measuring the impact of the Ghost in the Shell franchise, a featurette looking at the film's aesthetics, a behind the scenes featurette and of course a trailer. There is some minor controversy about the song used in the closing credits being changed for this release but you shouldn't let that spoil an otherwise excellent presentation of a landmark film.

The Klipsch The One II bluetooth speaker is a great exercise in form and function, featuring handsome construction with a wood cabinet and metal switchgear while delivering excellent audio quality. I have to add a slight asterisk to that statement as I spend most of my time listening to non-bluetooth audio sources so my opinion is a little less informed than others regarding the entire gamut of bluetooth offerings BUT I do love audio and the hundreds of dollars I've spent on heaphones and thousands I've spent on traditional speakers is a testament to my desire not to have my favorite music sound like utter trash.
The the pair of 2.25" drivers and 4.5" woofer fill almost any room with nice clean sound capturing the depth and nuance of whatever audio recording you ask it to play admirably given the limitations of the hardware. Speaking of limitations, you can pair this speaker with bluetooth or use an auxiliary cord to connect a device and that's it... There are no USB ports, no additional apps, no Wi-fi...
Where The One II stands unequaled among other bluetooth speakers is it's aesthetics. I purchased this for my father who recently purchased a lovely mid century home and this thing fits in beautifully. It looks like the most handsome audio gear from the late 1960s and 1970s and actually feels as substantial as some of that old audio gear as well. You can certainly find more affordable bluetooth speakers, some that may sounds pretty good I suspect, but none of them look as pleasing as this and in my opinion. You will want to keep this around as a permanent addition to your audio gear rather than treat is as a disposable item.
