Wireless bluetooth without earhole pain!

If you don't particularly like earbuds, but still want a good Bluetooth headset for exercising, this is a good choice. I've used this model and the previous model and been happy with both. I have multiple sets because I tend to use them a lot and want to have another with a full charge ready to go without having to sacrifice not listening while exercising. They don't go in the ears, but hook on top. That may bother some folks, or it can get irritating if you wear them for several hours. But they handle sweat and rain well, and it's easy to control volume, track changing, and power with the buttons.

Spring for the XL cartridge for longer life
on June 17, 2019

High-yield cartridge gives more that the standard. Unless you're printing one page a month, it's better to get the XL cartridges. And buy the HP ones. Not because you want to save a buck buying refilled ones. Because when your printer clogs with a refill, you're going to be upset you didn't buy the HP branded one. And it's not like they are that expensive. But check the printer app on your computer before you buy just one. I had to go back 2 times because one cartridge ran out. So I changed it. Then the printer said another ran out. So I changed it. Got one page done, and then ANOTHER ran out. You also can't print just greyscale or black&white unless all the cartridges, even the color ones, have ink.

Quality cable

The Insignia house brand is a quality cable that wont' break the bank. I just needed to connect an older monitor to a docking station, and I didn't want to wait for online delivery nor pay too much. This cable did the job fine, and the install meant the user was only without the second monitor for hours instead of days.

I have this paired with the Core floor and bookshelf speakers, as well as an older Sony subwoofer. It sounds great with the other speakers, and fits in well with the look of my home theater. Sony delivers on an inexpensive but quality speaker set in the Core speakers. You won't be disappointed.

Great sound from a small package

I use these speakers as my rear surround speakers in my home theater. They sound great mounted on my wall, and they pair well with the Core floor standing speakers. If you have a good subwoofer and limited floor space, these would also work well as front speakers. The sound is crisp and clear, with great highs and lows, at least for as low as bookshelf speakers will provide. They are hefty, so make sure if you do wall mount them you get a strong mount and properly place them. Very happy with my purchase.

I bought this along with the bookshelf, center, and Atmos Core speakers. Sony continues to put out great products that don't break the wallet. Not top of the line blow you out of the water, but not bargain basement Theater in a Box quality either. If you just want a pair of good speakers to go with a decent receiver, these are great. If you want to set up a nice home theater system but aren't sure you have the room just yet for a dedicated sub, these are great. I watch movies, play video games, and stream music, and I've not been disappointed with the quality coming from these speakers. I continue to be a Sony home theater fan because I know for the price I pay, I'll get a quality product.

Worked well to connect my receiver to a subwoofer located 15 feet away in a location that I did not want to run a cable along the floor or through walls. Just plug in transmitter and receiver, and then a subwoofer cable from AVR to transmitter and receiver to sub. Includes the cables you need to connect an AVR to the transmitter. If you previously had your sub connected directly, you won't need to buy any additional cables than what comes with this.

Head stays toasty, and you can see at night!

I walk my dogs in the evening, and I would often wear a beanie hat, AND a headlamp, AND a pair of Bluetooth headphones. It got crowded on top of my head, so this helped eliminate some of the problems of limited head real estate! It still covers my ears even with the headphones on, and it's easy to turn on and off and needed. The battery compartment on the rear is a little odd and not easy to get to - thus the 4/5 stars. But otherwise it's a great cap for when you want to stay warm and not wear an additional hiking headlamp.

Can I use this center speaker without a reciever and plug it straight into a TV?

No, it's not independently powered. It needs to be connected to a separate receiver that is attached to the TV.

I'm thinking of getting these speakers, but wanted to know if (in the future), would I be able to also connect a set of rear speakers? I'm looking into this receiver, in case that makes a difference: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-725w-5-2-ch-hi-res-4

I use these as rears, but there are others who use these as both fronts and rears, as long as they have a good subwoofer. I have them connected to an STR-DN1080 AVR, which I think is what you were referencing. They'll work fine.

Will these work with an Onkyo TX-NR676? I want to use these as the rear surrounds, the sscs3s for my fronts and sscs8 for the center.

They're speakers, they'll work. They are my rear surrounds with my Sony STR-DN1080, but if I hadn't already purchased the SSCS3s, I would have considered buying 4 of these and using 2 for the front and 2 for the rear. I have a good enough subwoofer to compensate for the smaller single sub in these speakers. I also had a little bit more room to install the floor speakers instead of just bookshelf speakers.

For those of you who have the bookshelves, the matching center, and the matching subwoofer, what are your crossover settings in the AVR? Also on the back of the sub, what are you turning the crossover knob to?

I have these connected to a STR-DN1080. I don't have the Core sub, but an older Sony sub. I adjusted the volume setting on the sub to give me a little bit more punch, but mostly have left the sub settings. I use the dedicated Sub-woofer out connection on the AVR, and used the built in calibration tool to adjust the distance. Your question is probably more apropos for the AVR than these speakers.

Will these work with my 40" 4k tv does it have an optical out cord

These have standard red/black speaker connections, so they have to be connected to a receiver. A direct connection from optical won't work.

Hear music in rich clarity with this Sony home theater AV receiver. Powerful surround sound makes movies come alive on your home theater system, and nine speaker channels flex their output to match your physical layout. This Sony home theater AV receiver works with a wide variety of audio formats, such as Google Home, Chromecast and Spotify. Includes HDMI 4K Ultra HD and 3D pass-through technologies for compatibility with 3D TVs, Blu-ray players and gaming consoles and 4K Ultra HD TVs.

Would I be able to use a wireless subwoofer with this receiver as part of a 5.1 setup with wired speakers? If so, would it need to be a Sony subwoofer, or would other brands work as well? Thanks!

The receiver's wireless connectivity is for Bluetooth and networking. If you want to connect wireless speakers, they have to be Bluetooth compatible or else you'll need to get an adapter to connect to the subwoofer on the back of the receiver, then use the wireless receiver to connect to the subwoofer.

I have L-C-R front speakers and L-C-R rear speakers and a sub, so a 6.1 set up. How would I connect these speakers to this reciever?

You'll hook up the rear center to one of the rear back connectors. The manual mentions a surround back channel, but nothing about how to connect a single surround back. I believe when going through the setup tool via the receiver, you can select just a single surround back, but I don't know if you connect it to surround back left or surround back right. You can experiment and plug both the surround back speakers from receiver into the single speaker you have.
The manual doesn't really say which one to connect it to. It just that it should be right behind the listening position.
