Best old school monster alien movie

I love this movie. The cast of characters (notably Kurt Russell & Keith David) are superb. The old school visuals were great for their day. Scream/Shout Factory releases are awesome. They have done a great job with releasing quality Blu-rays of classic horror movies, and this one is no exception. This version is much improved over my old HD-DVD version (remember those?). John Carpenter is 1 of my favorite directors, so this is just one of many of his movies that I've recently purchased.

Reminds me of the movie theater re-release

I've owned this movie across so many different video formats. But I was able to catch the re-release of it at a local AMC movie theater. Had never seen it in a theater when it was originally released, so it was quite a treat.
Other than watching the 4k version on a decidely less impressive sized screen at home, I can say that it looked & sounded as good as it did back in 2017 at that AMC theater. If you own old versions & you have a 4k TV & 4k Blu-ray player, do yourself a favor & pick this one up.

Saw this originally in a very good movie theater. I was very impressed by the imagery & the story. It's been awhile since I've seen it, but I can tell you this 4k presentation does not disappoint.
Colors are beautifully rendered in all of the costumes & outdoor scenes. Sound is clear & enveloping. Major improvement over previous Blu-ray release. It's a period piece, so some may find it slow. But I think it's a great story about love & loss. Recommended.

Picked up this printer at a great sale price of $69.99. This printer replaces an old dinosaur Canon PIXMA MX882 MFP.
The TS9120 is so much more compact than the old MX882. Print & scan quality is much improved. The large touchscreen LCD makes choosing functions very easy. You can use the Canon Print app to print from your mobile device. And if you link the TS9120 to the Google Cloud Print service, you can print from anywhere to the printer.
Bonus for me is the integrated CD/DVD tray for printing directly onto the media.

Only thing really missing is the auto document feeder, but only necessary if you do a lot of scanning (which I don't). And the ink cartridges that come with the printer are starters, so you'll have to go out and buy some soon.

This is not a review of the movie itself, as it's an animation classic. For me, I had this on DVD for a long time. Then when a special offer was available, I made the jump to Blu-ray. Huge improvement in video & audio quality over the DVD version. Granted, the movie is old-school hand-drawn animation (not in the Disney style) so it will never been pristine. But I don't think it's supposed to be: it's rough, organic, raw. But still enjoyable.

I paired this soundbar up with a cheap LCD TV. TV sound was abysmal, but typical for low-end LCD TV's. Was a little skeptical about purchasing this soundbar because it was cheap, but didn't want to spend a bunch of money for a family member that wouldn't probably notice the difference.
I can't tell you that the sound bar is the best thing ever, but when we did an A/B comparison between the 2, it was like a night & day difference. Sound was full & clear, with different sounds modes to improve dialog or dimensionality. Again, look at the price point & judge based on that. It dramatically improved the sound at a decent price for a non-discerning family member, so it fit the bill exactly.
