Red Sparrow

Jennifer Lawrence starts out as a Prima Donna and ends up recruited by a relative to be a Russian spy. Her training would kill a lesser woman, but hatred drives her on to become an important asset to the Ruskies as well as the Americans. Lots of gross out violence and nudity is the reason for the "R" rating. Who is the real hero is the question that you must answer.

John Wick 2
on April 14, 2020

The first John Wick film established this anti-hero as someone you never wanted to cross or mess with, and it ended on its own feet. However, this character has a trilogy in the making and the second film puts him into jeopardy all the way to the end of the film. There is the usual enormous body count, but John only escapes by the skin of his teeth to become the hunted at the end which begs for the 3rd film (John Wick 3) to bail him out, but there may likely be a 4th upcoming. This film is a setup for the 3rd, and should be watched together.

Downton the Movie
on April 14, 2020

Just under 2 years after the PBS Masterpiece Theatre TV series ends Julian Fellowes brings a sequel to the big screen. The Crawley family is expecting a very special guest. The royal family pays them a visit. However, there is drama afoot not only with the household servants, but without as a plot to kill the king is planned. This is a gem for Downton fans. Unfortunately, for those who had not seen the series on TV, the film opens with a montage of all the special points of the previous seasons with an emphasis on developing the characters for the non-fan. But there are some interesting fresh character notes that come out as the film reaches its finale. Will there be another film??

This 1966 spaghetti western stars Franco Nero (Django), who is a different character in this film written by Fernando Di Leo, who had co-written A Fist Full of Dollars, A Few Dollars More, and a couple Ringo films. Ringo's co-star George Hilton was suppose to be the lead character, but they cast Nero instead after seeing productions stills of Django. Hilton was cast as his brother instead. These two brothers having been separated for years Tom (Nero) hears of his wealthy mother's death. She had sent him away and forbid him to come back to his home town of Laramie, while leaving all her land and wealth to Jeff (Hilton). Tom Corbet quits his job and rides off and arrives home to find it is now in the hands of the wealthy town owner. Tom finds his drunkard brother living with an Indian housemaid and working a the local Chinese laundry. Jeff and Mercedes urge Tom to leave immediately, so that no one sees him. Curious as to why, Tom rides into town to find out. After trying to talk with the family who summoned him to come home, they are involved in a massacre with no one left to tell Tom what is going on except the owner of the town and Tom's home, who is paid a visit by Tom, but he is badly beaten there. While recovering at his brother's place, Jeff's Indian Housemaid is murdered. Now Bothe Jeff and Tom are totally committed to seek revenge on the Scott's. But now the big twist in the plot comes, which turns the reason Tom was summoned back home, and the problem that needs solving. You had me at "Spaghetti Western."

Duke's First Lead Role in The Big Trail
on April 5, 2020

Verified Purchase:Yes
John Wayne has his first leading role in this B&W 1930 western shot in early 70mm wide screen. Both John Ford and Gary Cooper had to pass on this film, but Ford told the director Raoul Walsh about a young prop man that he liked the looks of, and after a screen test, Raoul put the Duke into the films lead role, as a trapper who is seeking to find the killers of his fellow trapper, who had his furs stolen. During his quest is takes a job as a scout for a large wagon train of settles headed across the Oregon Trail in 1843, because he has a notion that the villains, he is after, are among the people on the wagon train. There is a love interest and attempts on Coleman's (Wayne) life when the bad guys want to take him out as a witness to their crimes. This DVD has the 35mm version, which is short about 14 mins that the 70mm version has.

This 1955 James Stewart western was one of the first to be filmed in Cinemascope. The plot has our hero Will Lockhart (Stewart) delivering supplies from Laramie to Coronado, a small remote town in Apache territory. However, his problem isn't with the Indians, but with the son of the autocratic owner of a large ranch outside of town. Will's cavalry brother had been killed in battle, and so he is quietly searching for someone who is selling repeating rifles to the Apaches. During his search a witness is found dead and Will is accused of it as well as stealing by the rancher's son. Things come to a head between the two in a fight for justice. Good Oater!!

This 1968 spaghetti western stars Franco Nero, known for his Django roles, who as another character in this role, finds himself involved in the Mexican revolution for money, as he helps his friend and his revolutionary compadres who are trying to overthrow the Mexican government. Jack Palance also has a role as a bad guy rival to our anti-hero. The music is by Ennio Morricone from the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns. The plotand acting are a bit corny, but the hero has a machine gun. What more could you want?

Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition

Since Microsoft is not updating their Office Suite 2010 anymore there were only 2 options. Either get Office 360 for a monthly or annual fee or buy this Office edition for a one time price and still get the updates through Windows 10. I was able to buy the program last Christmas for 1/2 price during a sale at Best Buy. The license is only good for one computer, so if you need to put it on your PC and/or your tablet and laptop, you have to buy more copies. The program includes the classic versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, but it is perfectly adequate for Home and Student use.

The Desperadoes
April 5, 2020
The second film on this DVD is a 1943 Technicolor western stars Randolph Scott who is as a sheriff of a small town and is trying to find out who robbed the bank not knowing that it was an inside job. Cheyenne (Glenn Ford) rides into town having arrived too late to help rob the bank. He's in love with the saloon owner and gets a job breaking broncos at a ranch. The sheriff knows Cheyenne as a friend, but another bank robbery done as a set up to frame Cheyenne and his sidekick to hang. Steve busts him out and is put into jail himself, but is freed by Cheyenne. The two of them than set out to settle the score. An early Glenn Ford western with the role of an anti-hero. An oldie but a goodie.

The essentials to get it all done. Office Home & Student is for students and families who want classic Office apps including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for Windows 10. A one-time purchase installed on one Windows 10 PC or Mac for use at home or school.

Hi, I recently purchased the latest iPad (7th generation) and need to use word. I noticed that with the word available on the App Store I have to pay a monthly fee. If I made this one time purchase would it work on my iPad? Thanks

I have the Office Home & Student version, which says it is good for 1 PC or 1 Mac and the system requirements, besides Windows 10 for PCs, also says or macOS. If your iPad has the macOS on it, then yes! Ask the store tech guy for a second opinion or go to the Microsoft web site to confirm before you buy.
