Unit is somewhat comparable to the Firestick. But, if you have the HDHomeRun Prime, the HDHR app actually works and decodes DRM content. Amazon has not allowed the SiliconDust app to decide DRM content....likely for competitive reasons. Android use has no issues. Love this device simply for this reason! Will likely avoid Firestick from this point on!

Needed more storage capacity. Bought the EX2 Ultra to replace my EX2. I researched on increasing capacity. And, given my RAID configuration (mirror), the easiest way to transfer data was to get a new NAS. Had i installed one larger drive, the device would only format it to access the smaller of the two drives. Thus, losing the added capacity.
Would have given 5 stars had WD figured a way to allow for easy converstion to larger drives. They may lose me as a customer if they never push an update that addresses that.

Hard drive failed and needed another quickly. This drive did the trick. Replaced a WD drive that failed after about 1 year (reason for the 3 stars). Now...that's another issue. Drives should not fail that quickly. For the most part, they do last longer on most of my devices.

Appreciate the comments from WD. However...

Ran diags...etc. Drive head/reader was flakey. To get the PC to recognize the drive an boot up, I had to tilt the PC tower itself (turn on it's side and back upright). Then, the drive worked fine. Couldn't even use it as a backup given instability. I learned that lesson from when this happen in the past with another WD drive. Reformatting it for backup use only proved to be a waste of time. I destroyed the drives before placing in the trash. If I had an inkling that WD would do something for me, I'd have sent them in even though they were out of warranty. Outside of decent pricing, I'm losing faith in the WD brand. I have 2 drives in a WDMyCloudEX2 NAS. I'm guessing it's going to be time to replace them soon...
