Still Decent Fun

This classic Tom Cruise still entertains fairly well, albeit in the most 90's of ways. The acting and dialogue are so overdramatic it's almost laughable but Cruise's charm coupled with the once great Randy Quaid, the legendary Robert Duvall and a young Nicole Kidman keep things going nicely. What the real crime here is how the mega charismatic Michael Rooker is the underplayed, undermentioned charm of the film. He should have gotten a better billing than he did.

This low-budget sci-film delivers on all levels. The visual effects alone are worth the watch, but the sets and creepy vibe really nail down everything you'd want in a sci-fi horror film. The performances are also on point with all the characters. A fun little film you'll no doubt enjoy.

Still Charming

Still one of my favorite political satire films ever made. Grant it, a film like this with it's clean edges and polish almost seem laughable compared today's political scene. However it still harkens back to a time where there was just a bit more shimmer to the oval office. Couple this with stellar performances by Michael Douglas and Annette Benning and you've got a film that's hard to beat.

The classic 80's film hits all the right notes, A-typical bad guys, a humbled hero redeemed from a torturous past and lots of corny, popcorn pleasing fight scenes. All this plus the unique and still vastly underrated charms of a one Rutger Hauer who deserved such a bigger career that he already had. It's corny, it's silly..and still fun to watch.

Still Underwhelming

I can remember initially seeing this film in theaters so many years back and being disappointed in the overall story. Decades later the film still doesn't hold up even Brando recreating his classic Godfather figure which is nothing more than a hollow representation of the classic character we all know and love. The cast is overall fine but the story is weak and never really delivers.

Films like Mouse Hunt represent a unique visual brand of family films that littered the 90's. While the story itself is simple, sweet and silly the production value is incredible. The sets resemble something akin to Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Lane and the vastly underrated British comedian, Lee Evans, have chemistry galore in this fun feature. I still wish they made family films with this much care and attention to detail.
