Excellent Budget 4K TV!

Well, this started as me thinking I was getting a good deal on a Toshiba 50 inch 4k open box TV. The description on BestBuy.com was, "condition good, missing some non essential parts." When I arrived at the store to pick it up turns out everything was missing, it was just a shrink wrapped tv panel. So I left that TV there and picked up this LG TV instead. More money that I wanted to spend for a secondary TV but this unit really shocked me when it came to picture quality so I ended up swapping it out with a Samsung and made it my main viewing TV. All's well that ends well.

Good but not great

First off, this blu ray does not have any of the extras that the DVD edition of this movie had so hang onto it if you already have a DVD copy. Second, it has a different cover than the one shown on the Best Buy website. I prefer the new cover so that was fine with me.
I loved Burton's version when I saw it in the theater at the time but now it seems so small and trite compared to Matt Reeve's reinterpretation. I still like some of Burton's choices and this was the first movie where I actually liked Mark Whalberg's acting. But overall, it could have been better. And they really should have added some extras.

I'm always a sucker for the Best Buy Steelbooks so when I saw this on sale I said what the heck. Turned out to be a very enjoyable movie with much better animation than DC's recent animated features. It does slip in and out of anime type storytelling so if that's a turn off steer clear of this movie but I loved it.

The one that started it all for Marvel!

This movie kick started the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe and it's still as great as ever! Jon Favrue and Robert Downey Jr. did the best work of their careers on this movie and created a billion dollar per movie cinematic franchise.

Beautiful 4k disc

The first time around watching this movie I didn't think too much of it but now that a few years have gone by and Hemsworth's Thor has appeared in more movies, I've grown to love his portrayal of Thor and I can really appreciate all the work that has gone in to making Thor: The Dark World. It's a beautiful looking movie on 4k and the soundtrack is really good. All these superhero movies can only benefit by assimilating more of the comic stuff and Walter Simonson's run of Thor provided some of the groundwork for this movie and it worked as well as Jack Kirby's run of Thor worked for Thor: Ragnarok. I hope we keep seeing more of this in future Marvel movies.
