Very nice quality transfer

Purchased this for my wife as she is originally from Michigan and spent many summers on Mackinac Island near The Grand Hotel. I vaguely remembered seeing this movie years ago and actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The transfer is quite good, visually crisp in most areas save a few shot shots but that is the source material.

A very solid entry in the DC Universe.

I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could because this is/has the potential to be a really really good movie. This coming from someone who felt Man of Steel and Batman V Superman just missed the mark. At times I did feel as if a few scenes ran a little long, maybe due to it initially designed to be an HBO Max 'mini-series' and it being stretched to fit four one-hour episodes. As a one-sitting movie, it does feel a bit stretched out. That said, the 4K UHD version looks and sounds spectacular. I didn't feel as if the effects for this version were half-done to save on money, and you can tell Zack put his effort in on this (regardless of how you feel of his DC Universe). Highly recommended.

Another great WB 4K UHD disc

Another fabulous transfer of a catalog title to 4K UHD by Warner Brothers. I know it gets said a lot, but it was almost like watching this film for the first time again. The 4K increase in detail is great, really showing off the attention to set design and other details that was apparent on this production. Also, the HDR color grading gave the film a depth I have never seen, as well as highlighting colors and shadows to really pull you into the film.

Interstellar opens on Earth in the distant future, as Mother Nature is waging war on humanity. Famine is widespread, and all of mankind's resources are now dedicated to farming in a desperate fight for survival. A former NASA pilot and engineer named Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) has become a homesteader in order to support his teenage son Tom (Timothee Chalamet) and 10-year-old daughter Murph (Mackenzie Foy). Unfortunately, even that begins to look like a futile endeavor after a sandstorm ravages their close-knit community. Meanwhile, a seemingly supernatural mystery begins to unfold when the InchghostInch that dwells in Murph's room sends her a mysterious set of coordinates - which lead the curious father/daughter duo to a clandestine underground base housing the remnants of NASA. There, renowned physicist Professor Brand (Michael Caine) has been working with a team of astronauts and scientists to find a new planet capable of sustaining human life. Brand quickly persuades Cooper to pilot a mission that will hopefully carry the seeds of human life to a habitable planet in another galaxy. Cooper is soon bound for space with Brand's daughter Amelia (Anne Hathaway) and researchers Doyle (Wes Bentley) and Romilly (David Gyasi).

Basically reference 4K UHD
on January 8, 2021

Warner Brothers usually puts admirable effort into preparing and releasing their catalog films in 4K UHD (2001, The Shining, etc.) and Interstellar is no exception. This is a go-to reference disc for the 4K UHD format - likely due to being a native 4K transfer. Detail is impeccable and the HDR color grading highlights the film's mix of bright and darker lit scenes. Also, the sound mix is completely enveloping.

Decent upgrade to 4K UHD
on January 8, 2021

This is a decent upgrade to 4K UHD. Not a significant increase in detail likely due to the age of the effects not upgrading to 4K particularly well, but the HDR color grading does help to better some of the dark scenes throughout the movie.

Ridley Scott directs this smart sci-fi thriller that serves as a (sort of) prequel to his classic InchAlien.Inch In the late 21st century, a star map found in the ruins of a number of unrelated ancient Earth cultures sends the science vessel Prometheus to a distant moon in search of humanity's origins. Instead, the crew encounters a deadly alien race that threatens mankind itself. Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, and Charlize Theron star. 124 min. Widescreen; Soundtracks English DTS HD 7.1 Master Audio, Dolby Digital 5.1, DVS Dolby Digital 5.1, French DTS 5.1, Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles English (SDH), Spanish, French; audio commentary; deleted scenes; alternate scenes; alternate opening; alternate ending; featurette. Two-disc set.

Excellent 4K UHD transfer
on January 8, 2021

One of Fox's better 4K UHD efforts (before Disney took over and seems to have halted most physical media releases). Overall, the 4K UHD transfer is a nice improvement from the previous blu-ray. I noticed a bit of increase in detail and the HDR color grading really gave greater depth to several scenes. This presentation looks very nice for this controversial but beautiful sci-fi/action movie.

Box set is great...but same old transfers

This was a gift for my nephew so he could watch and enjoy the complete 80s Thundercats series. Sadly, Warner Brothers continues to repackage the same transfers of this series and has not given it a proper remaster to high definition. Maybe one day as part of the Warner Archive collection. But, it is nice to have the whole series in one convenient box.

Shazam!... this looks good!

Overall, the 4K UHD transfer is a nice improvement from the blu-ray. I could notice a slight increase in detail, but the HDR color grading was the most notable. It definitely gave some scenes greater depth and film-like look. The Steelbook option definitely has the more appealing artwork.
