It is a cool thing to have if you walk around a lot and want to put you camera on weird places. It gets very sturdy and firm. Depending on the weight of the camera, it won't fall.

I have a apple ipad and at my vacation home I have no internet. Will the apple tv let me play down loads off my Ipad, to my tv without internet.
You would have to download the content before traveling to you vacation home. The Apple TV has storage, so you can download content and play it while you are traveling, with no internet connection. You can do that same with iPad. Just download everything you would want to watch on the iPad and mirror its image on the Apple TV
