A Story of Food and Life
on November 11, 2018

I almost threw up while watching this movie, but I was still kind of hungry when the credits began to roll.
'Tampopo' is mainly about a single mother who is trying to keep her deceased husband's ramen shop afloat. There are a lot of side stories that go on too that don't always connect with Tampopo's, which sometimes took me out of the movie. There are also a few parts that made me gag or cringe (such as the raw egg scene and the turtle scene), but this movie still held a certain raw charm.
The majority of the characters were a pleasure to watch, but, as I said above, some of the side stories following different characters that had little to no effect on Tampopo's life seemed unnessary. This lead to a disconnect for me at points.
The food, however, and the attention to it is the best part of this film. It gives an appreciation for the things we eat everyday. I do not recommend viewing this film while hungry.

Batman & Friends Go to Japan

Holy time leap, Batman! This movie was so aesthetically pleasing! Sure, the character models took me a little while to get used (especially the Red Hood's), but those backgrounds alone are almost enough reason to give this movie a watch. Pure eye candy.
The movie itself was ridiculous and it wasn't afraid to show it. Yes, they blended in the serious nature of Batman's character with the general wackiness of some Japanese anime and they did it well. Things can get a little out of hand sometimes, mostly towards the end during the final scenes, but overall it was a joy to watch.
A good movie if you like Batman and want to see him and some of his allies fight some of the villains from his rogue gallery in silly, yet epic ways against a beautiful backdrop. Though one of my biggest complaints with this movie is that they cut some of those battles short.

This movie contains more treasures than what Ariel from the 'Little Mermaid' has in her secret underwater cove and she's a hoarder!
One of the best things about 'Ready Player One' is all the Easter eggs that trigger all the nostalgic feelings and getting to try and hunt them all like a messed up game of 'Duck Hunt' without the annoying dog constantly hanging out in the background. Some of these gems are easy to find will others remain more hidden and have you whacking the person next to you in excitement.
The visuals are lovely to look at once the motion sickness from first experiencing the Oasis passes. However, the story sometimes leaves a little to be desired. The characters at times can feel a bit two dimensional as well. Still, the strengths of this movie hold it up for me, though I doubt my nephews will feel the same way about this film since it relies heavily on the nostalgia factor.
A great, solid action flick with a nice amount of reply value. There always seems to be something else to find!
