Fantastic!

I mean, hello. It's one of the greatest movies of all time. It really deserved to get this kind of treatment. Given the age of the source material, the greatest compliment I could give this version is that I never once found myself distracted by the quality of the transfer (video or audio). I mean, no, it's never going to be the latest Jurassic Park 4K transfer, but this in my opinion is the best that 2001 has ever looked on my home theater.

It's kind of hard to screw up velcro cable ties. I mean, they do a simple job, but these do it pretty well and I like the colorful approach over plain old black.

Fantastic TV for the price.

This TV is not ever going to give you the sort of richness that you'll get out of a Samsung QLED model, but for half the price, it is far from half the quality. I'm getting a beautiful, contrasty, bright picture from this TV that seems limited only by the content I send it. And even with poor content, it provides a great picture.
This television is not particularly good at HDR content. You really end up with a pretty crummy picture if you enable HDR and send it to this television. It just doesn't have the contrast ratio to handle the enhanced HDR color palette and still give you good contrast. You end up with visual mud. But on full contrast, non-HDR content, it can be a really solid picture. Just make sure to adjust settings until you get what you like. The more time you put into adjustments, the better your result. Upscaling on this TV is almost unbelievably good. I can send this thing a TV show ripped from a DVD (so starting at only 540p and then compressed) and it looks amazing.
I absolutely hate smart features on TVs. I will always prefer my Apple TV for smart functionality. So I can't judge Samsung's Smart features. I simply don't use them. Thankfully, the TV allowed me to set it up so the smart menu doesn't automatically pop up when I turn it on and it is now functioning as a "dumb TV" just like I wanted. The Sharp that this replaced had no way of turning off the smart menu, which was annoying.
All in all, great picture for the price. I'd buy this TV again and not give it a second thought.

Truly Excellent Receiver

For the price, this receiver is amazing and capable of audiophile-grade sound quality. This is my second Marantz SR series receiver, having lost my 5008 to a massive storm surge. It was good enough that I didn't consider anything else and just bought its current model year replacement, the 5013. Here's the good: the HDMI switching seems to work perfectly (a complaint I had about the older model), video quality is excellent, the user interface and setup are pretty simple, and most of all, the sound quality that is possible is on par with what you'd get out of separate preamp/amp setups.
The negatives, and there are a couple, but not enough to drop a star: for me, playing music off a USB drive plugged into the unit was glitchy when it worked at all. I'd hoped to plug a portable hard drive in and be able to play my whole music library. That's not happening. Also, it is challenging to know what format your content is playing in because the onscreen display doesn't tell you whether its DD, DTS, etc...simply what channels are receiving content from your source.
Those are pretty minor gripes though and don't overshadow the quality of the sound that is possible from Marantz amplification. I recommend skipping the Audyssey room correction entirely. It can strip quite a bit of life out of your sound. Just dial your speakers sizes and distances in manually. Overall, this receiver provides the bells and whistles of its competitors but with the added benefit of really exceptional, clean amplification.

Excellent Audio and Video. Only one complaint.

The audio and video quality exiting the backside of this player is exceptional. Love the fact that it's a full width unit and doesn't have the wedge shape of the lower models. At the end of the day, it's all about getting your content played though, and this unit does a masterful job. Loading 4K movies is quick and I haven't used a disc that hasn't loaded quickly and properly (after the initial firmware update). My only gripe is with Sony's decision to not include a Digital display on the front face. It's hard to even tell the unit is on. That's nice in a dark home theater, but I like having at least a small digital display with things like track info, audio soundtrack format, etc. Alas, for the kind of quality I'm getting out of it, that's a small complaint. And this player reads literally any disc I feed it. I burned off a collection of high resolution digital music (mostly 24/96) to a data DVD Rom disc and it loads it up and plays all the files flawlessly. This has become my new "universal disc player" replacing a far more expensive Marantz unit.

I was wrong about audiophile power.

I bought this primarily as a surge protector for my home theater system. The specs on the surge protection are excellent. Since it has built-in line conditioning and filtering, just for the heck of it, I plugged my desktop setup into it. I'm running an iMac with my entire CD collection ripped into Apple Lossless format. I play them back through a Schiit Modi 3 DAC and Schiit Vali 2 headphone amp into Sennheiser 6XX headphones. I have never subscribed to the silliness of guys who spend thousands on interconnect cables and other products just to squeeze the last .0001% out of a system. With that in mind, I wasn't expecting this to make any difference at all in my sound quality. I WAS WRONG! This was a noticable improvement in my overall sound. I shut the system down and restarted with and without the PowerQuest. It's not subtle improvement. Much more than I expected. It led to an immediate "Woah." I anticipate that it likely requires at least a system of my quality to get this benefit (and may provide even more for higher end setups) but I'm now having to buy a second one of these PowerQuest units for my home theater because this one has earned a permanent place under my desk. Bravo, Audioquest!

A Work of Art

This is the best Disney movie in ages! I've read reviews saying this isn't really a kids movie, and I agree with that to a degree. Kids will probably be bored with a movie like this that isn't the frenetic, hyperactive style of storytelling. This is slower and gives the viewer time to absorb both the magic as well as the depth of the message. That message is simply delivered, but profound: kids should be allowed to be kids and adults would be far happier in life by embracing the imagination that they sacrificed in the race to grow up. I thought the acting was fantastic. English society during the postwar period was stiff and this captures that well as a wonderful counterpoint to the freedom and joy of being a child.

LOVE this little drive!
By TommyBoy
Good grief! I've been using WD My Passport hard drives for a decade. This is my first external SSD. I moved my Apple Photos library onto it and had the immediate reaction of "where have you been all my life?" The speed difference the added bandwidth provides is kind of unreal. And this drive doesn't even take full advantage of the Thunderbolt speeds my new Mac Mini is capable of. These little drives are great! It looks like WD may be discontinuing them in lieu of their SanDisk SSD drives. I got this one for less than $100 and at that price, it was a steal!

UPDATE: Dead drive within 2 months of ownership.
January 20, 2025
I can't figure out how to change my rating, but I'd move this from a 5 star to a 0 star if I could. I've had incredibly good luck with WD external hard drives. They just run forever. Not the case with this SSD. After about 6 weeks of use, it began unmounting itself regularly. And now it won't mount at all. Drive Utility can see it, but Drive First Aid fails with a whole host of bad sectors and cannot mount. THANK GOD FOR TIME MACHINE BACKUPS! I'm currently restoring my Photos Library from my backup drive. I loved the speed of this little drive. SSD is most definitely the future, but I'm quite certain I won't be buying another one from WD or SanDisk.

Protect large outdoor areas like the driveway, garage or backyard with motion-activated LED floodlights, 1080p HD video, and a built-in security siren. Customize the motion zones to monitor specific areas and get real-time notifications when motion is detected. Use the Ring app to see what~s happening, turn on the lights, speak to visitors, and even sound the siren when you need to.

I am looking into ring so much confusion about what I will need. So first question, can this camera be wired to a long extension cord and then be plugged in? What would I need to purchased to make it work?

I doubt it. This light is really made for hardwiring into a fixture box. Like remove an old flood light from house and replace with this. If you haven’t ever done this kind of electrical before, you may want to get some help. Messing with 120 can really shock you. I’m not entirely sure but I think there are other products that may be able to be used with a wall plug. This isn’t one.
