The first movie of Francis Ford Coppola, if you want to call 90 minutes a movie. It's the directors cut, and is quite good. You can see in this movie the genius that Coppola is, the great filmmaker he turned out to be. A must for students of film

You have to watch this one

This was to me a good movie when I saw it the first time, but not the best from this director. However this presentation brings it out in all of it's glory.
One Utuber said the picture was "dark". He was reviewing it with an LCD TV, and this movie will bring out the flaws in any cheap Tv. Watching on my OLED77," I was reminded as to why I bought this set. The picture is a bit dark, but full of detail, deep rich colors. Killer soundtrack.
A blond, barefoot in a red dress, looking out of a six ft tall round window, surrounded by black with sunshine outside, and the voice of David Bowie kicks in, singing the theme from Cat People. Amazing. As is the scene where a movie is projected onto a cloud of smoke created by a burning third Reich.
Amazing.
Say what you want about Tarentino, he is quite a director.
And this is quite a movie. Brad Pitt is at his best. A complete justification of the 4k format.

A movie too far
on October 23, 2021

Verified Purchase:Yes
There is a new print of the movie classic " A bridge too far" and thats what this movie is. I kept thinking while I was watching this that I should have stopped with this series with movie #8. I mean really, going into space in a Fiero? Really!
As far as quality, picture and sound is perfect , demo quality. But watching the various stunts in this mess that would insult the intelligence of anyone with a pulse you don't really care that the insult is top drawer in the presentation.
You want a demo of your HT system there are movies that will suffice without having to roll your eyes every few minutes. And they are making two more of these things.
Whats next, time travel?

A must for collectors
on October 23, 2021

When I was growing up these were called "famous monsters " after the magazine ",famous monsters ", one of my favorite magazines growing up.
I guess they couldn't use that. These movies are great, barely longer than an hourly TV show, they pack quite a bit in.
The Black and white picture is rich. Its quite often difficult to get a decent picture with B&W, but this set succeeds quite nicely.
A standout is the werewolf, this movie takes place a decade after the others, and is more like a modern movie. But they all are quite enjoyable, a must for collectors.
If you're fine with bluray there is an eight movie set that is quite the same as this one.
My guess is they broke it into two four disc sets for 4k. Anyway its worth having

Just what I was looking for

I bought this bag for my radio. Thats right, radio. I have a rather nice one and have been looking for a case, and computer cases are too narrow. Just happened to see this one on a trip to Best buy, and having a Samsonite case for my 17" laptop I was familiar with the brand. Perfect for my radio, well padded. Has a space for a 10" tablet, I use that for my media player and associated gear. Great bag for either a 15" laptop or other gear, wider than your standard laptop case. Recommended

One of my favorite Marvel characters

If you are a comic book fan you will like this
Movie more. I like the movies so some characters and references I did not get at first. I think I will like it better the second time around. A lot of backstory about Black Widow, very well made. If you've seen every Marvel movie you pretty much need to see this one. But be ready to suspend belief for awhile. Overall a decent watch.

The first four Trek movies in 4k
on September 25, 2021
Posted by: steve
Verified Purchase:Yes
Three words tell why I bought this...Wrath Of Khan. I have had several versions of this movie, including a collection on bluray of every Trek movie That I bought last year.
Couldn't resist Khan on 4k , it is the best Trek movie ever. So far I've watched it and Search for Spock, watching the fourth tonight. The picture is top drawer of course,
Surprised me how much better than the bluray, the sound is awesome, they did quite a job on it. My only beef about this collection is the usual, money wasted on bluray versions. Two plastic boxes, one for 4k and the other for bluray, why do they do this? Anyway, an incremental increase in quality over the bluray versions. Upto the individual Trekie weather or not its worth it.
It is to me.

A beast of a subwoofer
on January 17, 2020
Posted by: steve
Got this at Best Buy because on sale it was cheaper than the "10 sub they had. Disregarded reviewers that talked about how it shakes any house its in. Well it sure does. Its shared by my 2.1 audio and my 7.1 home theater using home theater bypass on my preamp. My audio system has two Klipsch 820's, and they don't need much help, but my HT, with Front left and right sat speakers really benefit. Took some time but I finally tamed this thing, and when properly adjusted is really an asset, deep bass that is tight and articulate, but its going to shake the walls when it gets loud no matter what. Very nice, and sure the plate amp might go out, but this is an industry wide problem, and a good excuse to get an external amp that's better, receivers can do all of the functions that a plate amp used to do. Can't tell you how many I have had go out, just not worth worrying about, really.
Anyway this is a great sub, and the basics are all there, for 375 $ its a steal, even for full retail its a steal, recommended.

A nice surprize
on January 3, 2020
Posted by: steve
Bought these on sale a few weeks before xmas, unheard. Had a bad
experience with Klipsch around 2005, but for 650$ a pair they
were worth another chance. My audio system (Parasound, Rega, Oppo,) will share these with my HT system, which is being upgraded. This risk paid off, these speakers are quite the performers. Audiophiles do like horn speakers, and now I see why.
Full deep detailed bass, sparkling holographic highs. My new media
room is larger and benefits from these. Concerts and the like especially, the sense of "air" gives life to any performance, but does not overdo it. Listened to vinyl since forever, even when it was out of style, these speakers do well by my collection of jazz, rock, soul, you name it. Driving them with a Parasound pre and Parasound
A23 125 wpc amp, working mostly in class A. Now that my 20 year
old collection of B&W is dying these will be worthy replacements.
Worth the retail, on sale you are getting away with something. These
are large tho, and maybe the 8000's look cooler, but I just did not see the value. None of the upgrades on the 8000's, in my opinion,
are worth the extra coin. For audio or HT you can't go wrong.
But if you don't have an easy way of moving them you might want to audition them first. I probably needed to, but it worked out.
These floorstanders are amazing, highly reccomended.

Can this be read to a smart tv?

You would need a USB to USB C adapter, This reader is USB C and I know of no smart TV with USB C. Not yet anyway

Will this sub work hooked up to turntable accompanied with a pair of Klipsch ref. 4 in. 35 watt 2-way powered monitors?

Sure, but I would place it some distance from the table. My Rega III was not affected by it at all, its on the other side of the room {12 ft).

Can I combine this with my bose surround sound system

Bose makes great small form factor items like soundbars, radios, etc. I have the Wave radio and a blutooth speaker from them. But for large scale applications I would go
another way, just not their area, also its not a hard and fast rule but your speakers in your system need to be from the same manufacturer, something called timbre matching,
so that when sound moves from one speaker to another it won't change, like a truck moving from left to right.

How long will these be on sale?

They were on sale for 650$ a pair when I bought them, but were back on retail a few weeks later. They have been as low as 500$ a pair. Just keep an eye out.
In my humble opinion they are worth retail, the cheapest B&W floorstanders are two grand a pair, after all.
