This 3rd season of Twin Peaks, dubbed The Return, is a masterwork of avant-garde television cinema. It is almost unbelievable, the art twists and stage humor. Something so radically artistic, and entirely successful as entertainment product. Bravo to Frost and Lynch and their actors and their crew. Rancho Roserita all the way. I am wondering if, if this was included with the new Star Wars films, if we could say we are in a New Age, an age with heavy art to compete with and combat Europe strength in that department of culture.

I Love Stanley Kubrick and Such a Bargain Price

I love the movie director Stanley Kubrick and his work for 4 decades now. As a child actor, I heard about auditions for the role of Danny Torrance in The Shining in 1979. I have the sequel film Doctor Sleep so I am going to watch them in order. A bit of cultural binge viewing. As an astronomy geek, I adore 2001: A Space Odyssey which also covers primatology matters in the opening sequence, after the musical fanfare. And A Clockwork Orange with its Orwellian overtones always provides, but the sex assault scenes are awful. I cannot believe three such classics for like 12 dollars or something. Amazing Best Buy. Thank you.

Nice (and dismal)

It is almost like the five new Star Wars films are deliberately doing some avant-garde power move, perhaps to blow Europe and China out of the water with our American creative super powers. That said, the Solo movie, helmed by hit film vet Ron Howard, is a really nice addition. It also seems to have a depressing or dismal quality, like a tone. No, no, it's not bad film making.

Nothing can quite top The Shining

Stanley Kubrick's first 1980s film is a spooky masterpiece. The sequel film, like its predecessor, is based on a Stephen King book. They are stories and Doctor Sleep manages to make itself involved with T.S. while finding its own path, its own story. The gypsy woman with the black hat is my favorite character in a film in some time.
