I bought this hard dive to record over-the-air tv channels with my Mediasonic Digital Converter Box DVR, model HW150PVR. My first question was, "since this external hard drive gets it's power from the USB port, will the Mediasonic power this hard drive..?" The answer is yes. Second, will the NTSC format of the Easystore 2TB work with the Mediasonic...? NO The Mediasonic can format the hardrive to FAT 32. I went into the Mediasonic setup and formatted the hard drive to FAT 32, and it seems to work fine. Now I can record all of my old Saturday Morning Westerns, and watch them later in the week.

I do not own any other streaming media device, other than what is in my smart tv. But, this seems to get the job done on our 2nd tv in our bedroom. This is my 2nd Firestick. I just could not pass up the sale price on 08/04/2019 for $14.99. This does not have anything to do with the product, but with YouTubes contract with Amazon. To get YouTube you will need to download the FireFox for FireStick app. It's one extra step, but you click on FireFox, then click the YouTube Button, and that's all. I love it when I stumble upon these great deals. My last great buy was the Mediasonic - Digital Converter Box with DVR Model HW150PVR for $29.99 which I purchased on 01/24/2019. It's for recording local over the air tv, and I love it.

MediaSonic / Homeworx Over the Air Digital Video Recorder / Full HD 1080P / Model HW-150VR. This comes with Red, White, and Yellow RCA pin type cord. I'm using this with a Samsung TV 60" Model UN60JU7090FXZA, 4K, 4K upconvert, 3D Ready, Digital TV. I received this for Christmas 2018. It was on sale for $29.99. I have an outside over the air antenna rated with a range of 60 miles. So it's coaxial cable from antenna to a signal splitter. Two coaxial cables from the signal splitter, one to TV and one to MediaSonic. I had to buy a HDMI cable ($6.99 Best Buy 6' 4K Ultra HD HDMI Cable) which attaches to the back of the Mediasonic to TV HDMI In. So you will may NEED Coaxial Cable(s) and or HDMI Cable, and a Jump / Thumb Drive or External Hard Drive. I had a 64 GB Jump Drive. I LOVE this DVR. It's a little quirky, but for $30 it's well worth it. The TV Guide comes from the broadcasting station. So you may get a tv listing for one day or none at all. If it's on your guide, you just press EPG on remote, go up and down the tv guide and highlight the program you wish to record then press OK, then OK again to confirm your recording. If it's not on your tv guide, press Timer, 1 (add event), select channel, date, start and end time, then OK. To play recording press Menu, scroll right to USB, arrow down to Multimedia, Ok, scroll right to PVR, press OK, press OK on HBPVR folder, scroll up and down to select recorded program and press OK to select, press OK StartResume (this is a popup menu that I alway over look), press HOLD for full screen. It has fast forward and reverse to run through commercials. To stop watching your recording, press EXIT (you have to press Exit 3 times to get back to the beginning.) NOTE SOUND = If the sound seems low you will need to raise the volume on the MediaSonic Remote then raise or lower the volume on your TV Remote or Sound Remote. I know it sound like allot, but all of the instructions are on the screen. I've been recording The Big Bang Theory and the HD picture is fantastic...!!! I bought a 2nd one for $29.99 for a spare or present. That's it. I hope this helps some one..!

We liked the 3D better than the movie. We gave the movie 4 stars because we had problems keeping up with the story line. But the 3D effect was pretty good. So I would give the 3D part 4 1/2 to 5 stars. The 3D effect for Space and Explosions was very good. We bought this on sale for $7.99 which made the movie well worth the purchase.

Is control panel easy to read @ night?

The numbers and start button are very dark gray on black. I keep a flashlight next to it to read the panal even in daylight. It also glares from reflections. So if you have any windows in your kitchen, it's a real problems too. One lady said she marked the panal with a silver sharpy. I thought that sounded stupid. But me looking for a flashlight for 5 min. to warm up some thing for 30 sec, doesn't sound any better. Oh, the nubers are NOT bold, as suggested. If #1 was Black, and #10 was readable Gray, I'd say the the panal was about a #3. I actually do like the microway. I just need a lit miners hat to use it.. :)

All I want to do is watch local programming, get good reception and possibly of few extra channels. I live in the twin cities. Do I have to have a HDMI? My TV is HD 1080, it's about 10 years old and it's not a Smart TV. I have no cable.
Mediasonic - Digital Converter Box with DVR - Black Model:HW150PVR - You would use the coaxial cable from you rabbit ears or outside antenna to connect IN to you Mediasonic. You can come out of the Mediasonic with coaxial or a HDIM cable to your TV. So if your tv has HDMI IN, you could use either Coaxial or HDMI cable. So either way, you will need an extra Coaxial or HDMI cable since the Mediasonic does not come with cables. Extra Channels - You will only get the channels in your area that you antenna can pick up. The Mediasonic does not give you any extra channels outside of your area. Recption - Your reception depends on how close you are to your local tv stations, and how good your antenna is. So, what you see on your tv locally now, is what you will see with the Mediasonic. Your advantage is, you can record programs and watch them later. If you have a very old tv, it says it will convert digital to old analog tv's. I have a $150 outside antenna, which works great with this unit. I do have on channel that pops in and out. When I tried to record a program on that channel, it didn't record. I assume since the channel may have not been receiving at my end, the Mediasonic didn't see it and didn't record. If you have a good antenna, and want to record local programs, then this is a great unit to get. I got it for $29.99 on sale at Best Buy. It's far cheaper than a $350 Tivo. I hope this helps..

Can you record two channels at the same time?
No... You can only record one channel at a time. I set up one recording for Ch 11 - 10:00 pm to 10:30 pm, then I set up a second recording for channel Ch 2 - 10:00 pm to 10:30 pm (for the same time), and I received an error message telling me I could not set up the 2nd recording due to a conflict in recordings. I hope that helps... I received the Mediasonic Over the Air Digital Video Recorder for Christmas. My wife got it on sale for $29.99, and I love it...!!! I already had a signal splitter and coax cable, but I had to buy an HDMI cable for $6.xx on Best Buys Website. I also had an extra 64gb thumbdrive, so I was ready to go. I recorded The Big Bang Theory in HD 1080p, and it looks fantastic on my 60" tv. I'm guessing that a 2 hour movie takes about 4 gb of space, so I may buy a 1 to 2 tb external hard drive in the near future. One of the downfalls is, the tv guide is provided by the tv stations, not the Mediasonic. So the tv guide in my area is only for a day. I can see everything scheduled for that day, but not the next. But I'm old school and had a VCR in which you had to program recording yourself. PRESS TIMER on remote, Select Channel, DATE, Time ON, Time OFF, and SAVE. I made a list of the day and times for my favorite programs, and I just set it up ahead. I could talk forever about this thing, so I better end it here...
