The movie was fine… fun even, though it took its time getting there. The only thing missing from the movie was Millie Bobby Brown. Expectations were that as more of the saga’s storyline advanced, the peripheral characters of past movies would get a more involved spotlight to the titan wars. The humans offer up the mystery and intrigue, while the monsters deliver the heroism and devastation. What’s the point of having an actress of Millie’s caliber and onscreen presence if not displaying it in a more ambitious role? Seems a waste, but time should tell the tale. Godzilla needs a human intermediary just like Kong, in this case Millie’s character would serve admirably. Just my own vision for the saga, and my own disappointed gripes that to the core burn me.

I'm surprisingly enjoying the entire series, more then I originally expected... even despite the ridiculous amount of whining, complaining and trolling of anything with the word Star in it. People seem to think that the only way to prove to others that they're smart is by criticizing and ridiculing a thing, and playing up to popular opinion driven by spiteful behavior. Too many fear to admit their true feelings so as not to go against the status quo. I admit having reservations about the series at first, but was pleasantly surprised how smooth and enjoyable it was to watch. The series is in fact, good. It redefines and expends the lore of the alternate timelines, without losing sight of the original series. The actors all have vibrant personalities with intense, over the top performances worthy of the great William Shatner! Ultimately, any StarTrek is better than not having any at all.

It started off great and then it sorta fizzled out. The bright spot was Jason Statham. Worth buying if you love the lead, otherwise get it at discount.

When I first watched this movie, a little over 23 years ago, I had sever misgivings to both the logic and philosophy behind it. Frankly, I was annoyed by it. Don't get me wrong... I liked the movie, enjoyed it immensely... it fascinated me in a hundred different ways, but it challenged my perception of the future as I imagined it. But, I just couldn't swallow the idea that natural born humans would be second class citizens, while genetically altered humans were spearheading humanity's future, it effected me profoundly. Like I said, it challenged my preferred perception of the future. And then... just a couple months after seeing Gattaca in theaters for the first time, I watched The Fifth Element, which also came out that year in December.
Laden with a few book acquisitions from a neighboring used book store and sucking on Venti Coffee Frappuccino, I watched The Fifth Element with my friends at a cozy, somewhat classical and intimate movie theater. And... I had loved The Fifth Element, adored it, it fit perfectly with my vision of the future. I know! The Fifth Element was cheesy and corny, but it was also intense, stylized, and vibrant in its vision. This is where the debate began; the laying out of imaginative constructs, the petty arguing, the late night Denny's discussions, the ultra geeked-out dissections of every cinematic nuance that fired up our imaginations. The movies were very different from one another, true. The Fifth Element was a throbbing, cultural assault on a distant future that both comforted and entertained us, while Gattaca was an austere slap down for a socially sever and very near possible future. These movies to this very day still hold value, if you are willing to give them the time.
I keep both The Fifth Element and Gattaca right next to each other on the shelf filled with future inspired Sci-Fi like Ready Player One, Demolition Man, and Elysium.
Gattaca is worth every penny, especially for a 4K steelbook edition. It has become a cult favorite amongst geeks!

For those suffering from sever nostalgia of better days past, when an oddly displaced show intrigued us and made us feel happy, this is like a long awaited visit from a beloved friend. And it's about time it happened!
Getting this onto Blu-ray was what we wished for... even though this particular road is a long one... we are willing to experience every teeny-tiny step that this massive show has to offer, just so we can relive all of the fun memories.
This is one very convoluted, but funny story that takes a tragic hero on an agonizing trek through an ancient social structure built on service and sacrifice. It'll take patience and persistence to break all the accepted rules, look past antiquated assumptions, and rise above the fear and the taboos that drive this wounded civilization. And it's Naruto that must do it, turning his own tragic existence into a remedy to heal the Shinobi (Ninja) world.
Despite the burdens of this show, it's humor makes up for all it in unexpected ways. I know I'm being vague, but I refuse to spoil the joy of this show. It's my Ninja way!

Naruto the next generation indeed. And I'm starting to like this new generation of characters more than the first. All the kids are better versions of their parents, and I'm loving the angsty tension and complexity of the various character relationships. You feel the hope within the story, the friendships and camaraderie that are building for this new generation, but you also feel a building doom that doesn't seem to have a defined resolution. Another great story is in the works.

Usually I have great expectations for Vin and his SciFi movies... Pitch Black was great.
With this movie... the action was supercharged, but the story inched toward predictable and bland. I expected a thing and I got a thing, so no edge-of-your-seat theatrics. I did enjoy the movie, and happily display it next to the rest of my Near-Future SciFi's... and I'm eager for a sequel, which it needs. This movie needs a sequel to give it the "happy ending" it needs. I should give it three stars, but settled for four, since it is Vin Diesel.

I ask myself who would bother writing this... I ask myself if the script was borrowed from another Hurricane Heist movie... I ask myself why was Mel Gibson doing this...
After seeing the movie, I asked myself why did Mel Gibson even bother doing this... if he not have been in the movie, it would still be the same movie. Huge actor of Gibson's caliber making no impact in the movie whatsoever, it disturbed me.
When you come down to it... this movie could've/should've been great, if only...
If only they spent more money on it... if only Mel Gibson had a stronger more resolute role... if only the established personalities were not just cartoon characters... if only they used the island of Puerto Rico and its residents as more than background setting... if only the cat was more than a political joke... if only there were sharks in the streets, you had a Hurricane, and there were floods, why not add sharks... ha? Why?
This movie deserves a star for Mel Gibson playing wheelhouse role and one star for the cat.

Yes, yes it was. It was for Mom. Why?... Gerard Butler.
Mom says... "Oh, he's so mean. So... mean... and arrogant... and angry... and so resolute! He's so nice... he's beautiful!"
It's your typical rogue cop movie, with an "and-they-all-fall-down" story arc, and a naughty cop with a heart of gold surrounded by sugary donut meat. You'll understand when you watch it, and if you don't... you didn't watch it with Mom.
