Raucous animated re-imagining of the TMNT from producer Seth Rogen follows Leo, Don, Mike and Raph as they're raised to adolescence in the NYC sewers by rat sensei Splinter (voiced by Jackie Chan). The boys' desire for a normal high school existence will have to keep, however, as they have to contend with the bitter schemes of mutated musca Superfly (Ice Cube) and his cronies. With the voices of Maya Rudolph, John Cena, Rose Byrne, Paul Rudd, Post Malone, Giancarlo Esposito, and Rogen. 100 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

As a lifelong TMNT fan since the 80's, I was a bit wary when this movie was first announced, especially after the last two live action flicks were, let's say, less than stellar. Howevver, the previews won me over with the amazing art style and quirky sense of humor, and I went in with a positive mindset, and I wasn't disappointed. With more focus on the "Teenage" aspect of the characters, these Turtles do feel like young teenagers, and the actors portray them well. At times it feels more like an early John Hughes movie than a ninja action flick, thought that is by no means a detriment to the movie. There is plenty of action, and humor as well. Some of the humor was hit or miss for me, there seemed to be a bit too much emphasis on pop culture references, but maybe I'm just a cranky old guy. Maybe. But overall the writing is well done, and really captures the spirit of the franchise. And not to spoil anything, but the ending features something that I had hoped to see in other versions, and it will be interesting to see how it plays out in the forthcoming TV series and sequel.
While I can't say this the apex of the franchise for me personally, I can say this is an enjoyable watch and I'm looking forward to what's in store for this particular incarnation.
Oh, and the steelbook is nice with some great artwork. Kudos.

I picked up Clive N' Wrench because it seemed like a nice throwback to the 3D platformers of the 1990's. Upon playing it though, I found a terrible game that would have been frowned upon even back then.
Poor camera movement will leave you disoriented, slippery controls will have you swearing as you try and fail again and again to leap onto a platform, and quite possibly the worst swimming mechanics I have ever experienced. The graphics, which would have been impressive as a launch title for the Dreamcast, are awkward, stiff, and ugly, and prone to glitching constantly, as objects bounce around without reason, often freezing in mid-air. Boss fights are miserable, glitch-filled experiences, only ending when a loading screen awkwardly pops up in the middle of the action. About the only thing the game manages to get somewhat right is the music, though even that becomes grating after a while.
If you're looking for a 90's inspired 3D collect-a-thon platformer that doesn't star a certain mustachioed plumber, check out New Super Lucky's Tale instead. Send Clive and Wrench back to the 90's where it belongs.
Cons: Poor camera, terrible controls, boring level design, charmless characters, glitchy performance, even after installing the latest patch.
Pros: Um... It's better than Balan Wonderworld, though that's not saying much.

Let's get the pros out of the way first... this RPG is a follow up to 2018's puzzle platformer "The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince". The art is similar to the previous game, done in a gorgeous hand drawn style and features some great, cute details. The music is also charming and wonderfully done, and the story is rather sweet as well.
Sadly, when you get to the actual gameplay, you find it is nowhere near as engaging as the visuals. The basic RPG battle mechanics are solid, if not very innovative or unique. It's the time you spend between battles that really drags the game down, as you will find yourself plodding left and right across long paths with no puzzles to solve or roadblocks to overcome other than the frequent random battles. Most areas are also mazelike with lots of backtracking, so many players will find themselves bored before getting even halfway through the game.
I enjoyed "Liar Princess" and was really looking forward to this game, but sadly the boring gameplay overshadows the whimsical art and story, and I can't really recommend it. If you're looking for a quirky RPG with a unique art style and an engaging story, I would suggest checking out "Paper Mario: The Origami King".

The first 3D title for the series, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a fantastic adventure with tight gameplay, amazing music and graphics, and a wonderful sense of fun. The game features an easy setting for younger players, while more experienced gamers will find a tough challenge in the post game areas. Highly recommended.

After focusing more straightforward action in the previous game in the series, Shantae returns to the exploration platforming format in Shantae and the Seven Sirens.
The game features tight controls and smooth gameplay, and you can uncover new areas to explore by obtaining new powers and abilities. Like the other games, the music and graphics are top notch, and new to the series are fully voiced cut scenes to help flesh out the story. First time players can expect about 10-12 hours of gameplay, while veterans can unlock an image gallery based on how quickly they can play through the game.
There are a few nitpicks, such as sometimes vague directions on where to go next, and an absolutely miserable dancing minigame (that's thankfully not required to see the end of the game), but overall this is another excellent entry in a stellar series.
Blaster Master Zero is a 8-bit style top-down & sideview 2D action-adventure game. This game was created using the original 1988 title "Blaster Master" from Sunsoft as a base, with the addition of new areas and bosses, new gameplay elements such as extra sub-weapons, improved gameplay, a more robust scenario, refined and expanded exploration mechanics, and more.

Blaster Master Zero irons out the more irritating aspects of the original game, while maintaining the same 8-bit style of the NES era. The controls and gameplay are incredibly solid, and aside from some late game difficulty spikes, you get a fair challenge that rewards smart playing.

Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. exactly what it says on the box, a small LCD game system that plays an excellent version of the original Super Mario Bros. The screen is tiny, but just large enough to be able to play well, and the buttons have excellent response. The overall unit is solid and has a high quality, metalic feel to it. In addition to the original game, you also get the Japanese sequel (Lost Levels), a Mario version of the Game & Watch classic "Ball", and a fun clock feature which has animations of Mario interacting with his foes.
There are plenty of other ways to experience Super Mario Bros. and its sequels on a larger screen, so this won't appeal to everyone, but Mario fans will get a kick out of it, at least for a little while. At the very least it's a fun collectable to break out every so often.

Even before that disastrous first trailer dropped, it was pretty much assumed that a live action movie based on Sonic the Hedgehog was doomed to failure. But with a surprisingly solid script, a great cast, a phenomenally hammy performance by Jim Carrey, and a *very* much needed redesign of our blue furball hero, I'm pleased to find that "Sonic the Hedgehog" continues the recent trend of video game based movies not totally sucking.
Despite a couple of plotholes and several jokes that don't quite hit their mark, the movie is a fun sit, and manages to entertain even if you aren't familiar with the video game franchise. It manages to have quite a few laughs and a few genuinely touching moments (which absolutely wouldn't have worked with the original Sonic design, *shudder*)
Fans will dig it, and non-fans will most likely enjoy Jim Carrey's most over-the-top performance in well over a decade. I'm looking forward to the inevitable sequel.

This collection presents Mario's first three 3D adventures with upgraded HD visuals and revamped controls for the Nintendo Switch. While Mario 64 retains it's original 4:3 aspect ratio, both Sunshine and Galaxy are presented in widescreen.
Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy have both aged well, with tight controls, great difficulty curve, excellent level design, and a plethora of hidden areas to find. Mario 64 still represents the benchmark that all 3D platform games are held against, and Mario Galaxy still had the same charm and sense of fun it had on the Wii all those years ago.
Mario Sunshine, on the other hand, can be a frustrating experience, with some questionable stage layouts and incredibly finicky controls. If there was one game on this collection that needed a from-the-ground-up remastering, it would be this one. Still, there is fun to be had with some fun characters and set pieces. Just be sure to stock up on extra lives.
The collection also includes the ability to listen to the soundtracks of all three games. Overall, this is a solid collection and great for Mario fans, or those who are interested in Mario's earlier entries into the third dimension.

is this game ok for an eight-year-old?
Yes, there is nothing overly offensive or vulgar, and the violence is very cartoonish and mostly involves robot enemies exploding. Gameplay is simple and there's an easy mode for younger, less experienced players.
