Ready Player One is a popcorn blockbuster adaptation that brings a decent nostalgic gamer adventure to life in a lot of great ways! The film services a lot of clichés and can veer from the book a bit too much (what adaptation doesn’t?) Buy at its core, this film is a wonderful send-up to the great 80’s, the innovation and artistic exploration that came from it, and the passion for teamwork and adventure. The 4K issue of the film is simply incredible - the picture crisp and visually stunning, the sound immersive and layered to perfection. The copy I have had occasionally gotten stuck in a certain place, but I chock that up to a sensitive player that needs spotless disks (I think there was a fingerprint on it).

A wonderful stop-motion tale from the perspective of man’s best friend and with a stellar voice cast! Thematically deep and resonating with political points and cultural send-ups to the great Japanese films of the past - Isle of Dogs is a must-see!

Emily Blunt shines and John Krasinski steps up his game to deliver an excellent family drama wrapped in a tense, atmospheric thriller. A recommend for any true monster and thriller fans.

So here’s the thing - this is not a fantastic film. But it is FAR from a bad one!
The problem with adapting video games is that Studios constantly revert to the ‘action’ factor over the need for solid pacing and steady building to a satisfying finale.
Tomb Raider is no exception. The story is taken from the game remake and it’s adequate. But it rushes the plot to force action and tension without taking the time to help the audience be absorbed by this new iteration.
Vikander is a solid choice to play Lara, but the character is left lacking by a poor build-up of her skills, abilities, and personality.
The biggest complaint I think I can give is that, for a film called ‘Tomb Raider’? I’m not convinced of Croft’s owning of the title.
A young woman wakes up after a terrible accident to find that she's locked in a cellar with a doomsday prepper, who insists that he saved her life and that the world outside is uninhabitable following an apocalyptic catastrophe. Uncertain what to believe, the woman soon determines that she must escape at any cost. Movie stars John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Gallagher Jr and Bradley Cooper.

10 Cloverfield Lane succeeds in ways so many feel it never could; especially considering the time between films and the lack of promotion for this latest installment. Thankfully, the team behind Bad Robot and crew proved all the doubters wrong by subverting our expectations and giving us a completely different kind of film; nothing like the original. John Goodman is fantastic as the unstable ‘keeper of the keys’ and the entire supporting cast delivers in every way. The claustrophobic atmosphere and simple, minimal story lend more tension and mystery to give us a great film!

The DC universe continues to succeed at adapting their properties into the gaming world. With the sequel to Injustice, however - it feels like this take has overstayed it’s welcome. The plot was a struggle to stay with as it veered into the ridiculous and just expected us to go along with the plot. Sticking with Superman as a continually untrustworthy villain grows old with the argument of ‘the world is evil and only we can make it right... by any means necessary’.
The AI mechanics are also frustrating as you have to get superiorly skilled at combos to even stand a chance. The AI also tends to defy the rules of its own game at times as it becomes increasingly frustrating to maintain a pleasurable gameplay.
Steve Martin stars in the 1991 remake of the 1950's classic Father of the Bride as shoe executive George Banks, whose happily married existence hits a bump when his daughter Annie (Kimberly Williams) returns from a semester abroad engaged to be married to an "independent communications consultant" named Bryan (George Newbern). The 1995 sequel Father of the Bride II finds Martin once again confronted with the anxiety of fatherhood when Annie and Bryan reveal that they're expecting.

A wonderful pair of films centered on a father’s love for his family and the natural transitions of children growing older. The double makes a great buy in value and these films are easily rewatchable over and over again!
