Although Death Takes A Holiday is wonderful Hollywood entertainment for 1934, in the 21st Century, it would be seen as pure fluff, but it is worth seeing because it is nonetheless a romantic romp and cleverly written. Fredric March is Death, naive and charming.
Meet Joe Black, an adaptation of the Death Takes A Holiday theme starring Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins, although a more realistic depiction of the subject matter, now in full color, is a new adaptation that is equally entertaining, but still fluff.
See them both. Death should be so lightly taken. After all, it is eventually inevitable for all of us.

I have waited a very long time to add this superb film to my Blu Ray collection. This 1959 British drama depicts the adult nature of its subject matter directly and without compromise. The Oscar-winning performance by Simone Signoret is flawless, and Laurence Harvey's Oscar-nominated role was also most deserving. The honest and direct storytelling for its time would have not been handled had it been a U.S. film, since I honestly believe censorship would have made the factual honesty of its adult nature milk toast.

PAIN AND GLORY is Pedro Amaldovar's most personal film to date, and rightfully so, as the main character, brilliantly interpreted and performed by Antonio Banderas, is Pedro Amaldovar, only with a different name.
Amaldovar, as portrayed by Banderas, through the course of the film, is intimately affected by those with whom he grows up with and with whom helped to create his genius and persona...his mother, father, lover and the actor his character made famous.

FARINELLI JUST MAY BE A FORGOTTEN MASTERPIECE

Anyone who loves ancient operatic history must see this extraordinary film. Although in today's day and age, castration in order to preserve the soprano-like vocal artistry of castrati is utterly cruel and inhumane. Farinelli, one of the actual castrati, and probably the moist famous of all castrati in history, is a beautiful film-telling biographical scenario. Historically, it's not totally the real truth, but it is nonetheless a sparkling entertainment. The music, vocal extravagance, exquisitely beautiful costumes and production design, and above all, its breathtaking cinematography, make this film a must see by opera fanatics and anyone who enjoys a movie take about on an obscene, yet fascinating period of opera history.
Rent it or buy it, but do see it and enjoy this take on a forgotten art form.

This first film is loaded with fun, excitement, great effects and a memorable retelling of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale.
Disney again can retell a classic fairy tale in a way that is not only a new fairy tale, but gives meaning to why Maleficient is who she is.
I am a great fan of this Disney tale, it is a fitting precursor to its followup Disney film that brings it all together in another new fairy tale to remember.

From the great detail in shaping this character study of a troubled individual, and the awesome performance of Joaquin Phoenix, it does not surprise me that this film received 11 nominations for the Oscar. JOKER is not an easy movie to get through without being shocked and horrified how our society can be so biased and cruel to reek such unfair and horrific treatment on an already lonely, troubled individuals. Although there is no way I will condone that such a villain as JOKER, created out of the cruelty of his fellow man, should exist, even though he is a comic book villain, this remarkable film details how such a troubled person can change in defense of his unfair treatment by others. JOKER is remarkable cinema of tragedy from prejudice taken to its very extreme. A warning...this movie is not for the faint!!!

There is such joy in this wonderful family tale, where everyone learns and the dying grandmother somehow remains a victor.
