2020 iPad Pro 12.9”

I was looking to replace my iPad Air 2. 16GB just wasn’t cutting it anymore. While at Costco one day, I was able to compare sizes of the iPad Pro 12.9” vs. 11” and the newest iPad Air side by side. There was just enough size difference between the iPad Air and the iPad Pro 11” for me to go with the iPad Pro. Then looking at the iPad Pro 11” vs the 12.9”, there wasn’t a great deal of size difference, so why not go with the 12.9”? I think this was justification exercise for the 12.9” Pro, which I had pretty much decided I wanted even before this Costco visit, but never looked at these models side by side before.
I placed my order through the BestBuy app. It took around 1-½ weeks to arrive. At the time, even Apple wasn’t able to fulfill an order any sooner. I’m VERY happy that I chose the iPad Pro 12.9” model. With the larger screen size, videos are so much nicer to watch, typing out emails is a lot easier with the larger keyboard, due to the screen size, and just surfing the internet is a nicer experience with a larger screen. I also have a late 2018 MacBook Air, 128GB. However, the iPad and MacBook have their distinct uses. I do not believe the iPad is a replacement for the MacBook, at least not for me yet. However, if one has never had a MacBook, or PC, one might find the iPad Pro (or Air) is all one needs.
The iPad Pro is definitely heavier than the iPad Air. However, I quickly got used to the weight difference. The iPad Pro model I have is 128GB and don’t believe I’ll run out of GBs like I did on the iPad Air with 16GB. My MacBook Air still has 64GB of storage available and I’ll never use it all up. So I don’t believe I’ll ever run out of space on the iPad Pro, even if I start using it more and the MacBook less. Moving everything over from the iPad Air 2 to the Pro, I still have 107GB of storage available. Don’t forget, some of the 128GB is used by the OS. Oh, the sound quality is excellent. There are speakers at the top and bottom of the device.
I would definitely recommend the iPad Pro series. Take advantage of BB’s deferred interest if paid off in 18 months. I think once you’ve used the larger screen size, you’ll be happy with your decision. I purchased a ZUGU case for my iPad. Unfortunately, this case isn’t available from BestBuy (it should be BB). Do your homework on iPad cases.

Always been a wonderful movie

BB had this dvd on sale, so I bought it when I purchased a Blu-ray 4K HDR DVD player. Even though I’ve seen this movie probably 10 times, it was a real treat to watch it in the comforts of home, on a 75” QLED tv. It really was as good as being in the movie theater. It’s the full length version of the movie, nothing cut to fit the disc. If you’re a fan of this movie, you won’t be disappointed purchasing it. And, if you see something you don’t recall seeing before, having the dvd allows you to take another look. This is probably one of the few movies I’ll watch over and over again.

Good DVD Player

Having recently purchased a Samsung 75” QLED TV (QN75QR), figured our 10+ year old DVD player would be technologically disadvantaged at producing the picture quality expected from the QLED TV. BB had the Samsung DVD player on sale, Samsung had sent me a $50 off coupon, did a little research and decided to purchase the DVD player, along with the 4K HDR DVD, 2001: A Space Odyssey.
After hooking up the DVD player and going through the easy setup process, popped in the Space Odyssey disc and the picture was just like I remembered it in the movie theater! The picture was crystal clear and the detail was wonderful. Sound quality was also excellent, but that’s due to the Bose Soundtouch 130 sound bar system. Admittedly, we don’t watch many DVDs, but with the new TV, you know... Also, Samsung has announced it’s exiting the DVD business, so if I wanted a Samsung DVD player, better get one while they’re still available. Basically, it does what it’s supposed to do.

Originally bought this to go into the electrical socket behind the newly wall mounted TV. However, the TV’s power cord was long enough to go behind the wall, come out the bottom and plug into the Monster surge protector. So instead of returning the Rocketfish surge protector, decided to use it to protect the refrigerator. (I understand this review doesn’t cover the surge protector’s usefulness, but it’s another way to use it.)

This item is used primarily when watching TV. It paired very easily to the Samsung QN75Q70R (QLED) model TV. The TV doesn’t have any analog audio inputs, so Bluetooth was a necessity. The sound quality is excellent. Very crisp. With over the ear noise cancellation, one doesn’t hear all the surrounding noises that can take away from enjoying a movie. The headphones get close to 20 hours on a charge. Your mileage may vary.
I’ve also paired the headset to my iPhone and my music sounded wonderful. The headset also allows one to answer phone calls on your cell phone.
I was looking at another manufacturer’s headphones, when the BB rep suggested I take a look at the JBL headset. They were on sale for $139, normally $300+. It was a no brainer. And a good buy!

Orbi RBK50 WiFi System

The Frontier FIOS modem/router was not providing adequate WiFi coverage throughout the house. Spoke with a BB associate and decided on the RBK50. With the router and its satellite (it’s not an extender) I have great coverage now throughout the house and patio. Setup was very easy and so was installing the Bitdefender Armor security software on the router, which comes with a free 90 day trial period. With the Orbi app (on my iPhone), I can easily see which devices are connected to the router and satellite, if they are on the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band and notifications when a device joins the network and security threats blocked.
It should be noted, there are different configurations to be considered with this product and your ISP’s modem/router combo.

It was time to upgrade my 2010 MacBook Pro and my wife’s 2009 iMac. Replaced my Pro with a 13” Gold MacBook Air, 128GB SSD with Retina display and also got one for my wife. (BB was happy to see me!) What a difference! The MacBook Air is so light. Why carry around the extra weight of a DVD/CD player? Haven’t used it in years. The Retina display is amazing. The screen display is crystal clear. With all the docs and pictures transferred over from the MacBook Pro, still have 53GB of free space. May not sound like a lot, but 53GB will last me until I upgrade to whatever Apple has on the market in 5+ years. The stereo speakers on each side of the keyboard are amazing. Clear sound with wonderful stereo separation. The MacBook Air (latest model as of this writing) is a pleasure to use and it’s fast. I also like the security of the finger print reader to login to the Air. Would highly recommend one consider this laptop, especially if you have a MacBook Pro to replace.

Was upgrading two iPhone 6s. When at BB, saw the XS Max next to the XS and I thought, OMG, the Max is huge! But putting the phones back to back, the Max is not really THAT much larger. Called my wife to see if she had a preface. Nope, up to me. So I went with two XS Maxes, Happy I did. Reading emails is much easier, viewing app contents is nicer, surfing the web is nicer with a larger screen and the speakers really put out a good quality stereo sound. I have not had an issue carrying the phone in my pants pocket (usually front) and have quickly adjusted to the Max's increased size over the iPhone 6. BTW, my wife likes the Max and also has no issues with the size.

I have the clear case and like the way it shows off the back of the gold iPhone XS Max. The case has a soft "rubbery" feel to it and feels good in your hand; it's not going to slip out. The back of the case seems to be pretty scratch resistant, as what I thought were scratches, turned out to be smudges that could be wiped off. The case does not have a bumper guard in the corners, but again, since I'm pretty careful with my phones, I believe this case will do a good job of protecting the phone should I drop it, which happens about once a year. If you're at BB and can touch and feel this case, I think you'll agree it's a good case and the price is right.

I have had the Samsung QLED, 75QN70R model, since May, 2019. I have not ever had the TV crash, nor have I ever had to reboot the TV to clear an issue. I hope you took this issue up with BB, or even returned it. BTW, I did purchase the 5 year protection plan, which added considerable cost to the TV purchase.

What did you think you were buying? Do you know what tablets are? Yes, it does use a different type of connector from some of the other models. It uses the same type of connector (USB-C) as the latest MacBook Air uses, for instance. You should have done your homework before you bought this tablet. Mine works great, but *I* know how to use it. Have someone show you how to use it. Once you understand how a tablet works, you'll enjoy using it. Guaranteed!

Does this system create WiFi in your apt or is it just a booster to another internet provider?
The Orbi is a router and creates a “WiFi mesh”. It is not a WiFi booster. If you live in an apartment, or small house, you could probably get by with just the router (RBR20), as it covers up to 2000 sq ft. I have the RBK50, (router and satellite) and it covers up to 5000 sq ft. If you have an ISP’s modem or modem/router combo, the Orbi will connect to the ISP’s device via the supplied Ethernet cable.

Will Orbi pair with Centery Link routers? Also what is the maximum range you can each piece from the router? and can I place one of them outside under cover?
It will. However, you should google Orbi and CenturyLink because there are various topics that should be understood.

Netgear says this system is for indoor use. Period. If you have a covered patio, protecting the satellite from getting wet, you probably could place it outside. However, with the RBK50’s coverage up to 5000 sq ft, there probably isn’t a need to place the satellite outside.

How would you compare the battery life of the 10 XS max to other phones. My 6s Dies so fast and i am well over due for an update. I have heard leaving your phone on the charger over time wears the overall battery performance down too?
I had an iPhone 6 before getting the XS Max. I think I get an extra day before I have to recharge the phone. But it really depends on the amount of usage. On your phone, have you gone into Settings >Battery >Battery Health? If it's less than 80%, you may need a new battery. Apple is replacing the iPhone 6's battery for $29 until Dec. 31, 2018. I took my 6 in for a battery replacement. The Battery Health on it was 78% I believe, which meant it could only charge up to 78% of what a new battery could charge at (100%). Also, if you have Background Refresh option on, (Settings >General >Background App Refresh) try turning it OFF or if on, only select the Apps you believe absolutely need to be refreshed in the background. My wife was complaining about this same problem (needing to recharge her iPhone 6 daily). Once she turned OFF this option, she didn't have to recharge her phone every day.
