This unit was easy to set up. Involves replacing the throw-away batteries with rechargeable packs and replacing the battery covers with the provided ones. Recommend keeping the original battery covers in case you need to use replaceable batteries.

Easy to set up if you are somewhat computer savvy. Video and sound work well over high speed ISP. Night vision has limited range, but is clear up to about 10 feet. Phone app works well and camera can be viewed remotely. Although not advertised for outdoor use, mine is under a protected porch and I've had no problems. Wish there was better recording options however.

D-Link - mydlink 4-channel DVR - Black/Silver

Monitor your business securely with this D-Link camera recorder. It lets you simultaneously record and view playback and live streaming from up to four cameras, and up to two hard drives can be connected for storage. This D-Link camera recorder can be set to record on schedule or when motion is detected, and it has an app for remote access.

I don't see how any camera connect to this

I use D-Link network cameras. The recorder connects to your local network router, and the cameras are "discovered" using the software provided by the recorder manufacturer. You can also download an app for your smartphone to view the recordings. Instructions are in the box. If you're not using D-Link wireless network cameras I am uncertain how the recorder would work. Hope this helps.

PS: D-Link cameras work well, but the Microsoft Edge browser does not support the D-Link remote viewing application. Cameras can be viewed well with the D-Link app on smartphones or iPads.

Has 2 HDMI inputs and 1 cable/Ant input. To the best of my knowledge, all TV's manufactured today must be digital ready.

does this record? do I have to connect to Ethernet/Wi-Fi/ or computer or phone?
I want something that records only when movement is detected and that I can review later. snapshots are sufficient

I also want this to either be outside and transmit via wireless to device inside
or be able to detect and record through the window

The camera itself does not record. You need a WiFi or Ethernet connection to a recording device or computer.

Is this quiet and discreet to where no one would hear it recording?

Keep in mind that the camera itself is not recording. The video is being recorded remotely by your computer or whatever other service you are using. The camera makes no sound, but there is a green light on the front of the camera that is visible.

Not very well, the IR light reflects off the glass in my experience.
