NOT compatible as a wireless Mac monitor. This is a Windows-only capability. However, I hard-wired it to a new MacBook Air M1 and I love the picture. Also, if you choose to use the monitor's built-in speakers, volume adjustment will me manual only, through the hard buttons on the monitor itself. I chose to use the MacBook's excellent speakers. The big takeaway is the 4K. Looks sooooooo good. Since you are on a Mac, you may be better served looking for another 4K UHD monitor without the FreeSync since you can't use that anyway. Looking on the BestBuy site I see there are other choices, some for less money, some for more, depending upon size and picture quality. Be sure your MacBook is capable of driving a 4K monitor to its full potential. If you can get one that is compatible, you will love the immersive experience of 4K from your MacBook.
