Great Wi-Fi Network with Poor Software

Before I received the Velop three-node Wi-Fi network, I had dead spots in my home where I could not use the Internet. The Velop "mesh" network solved that issue.
LinkSys put a lot of thought into the system's design and packaging. Each router node is a sleek, white tower with a small footprint, smaller than 3" x 3" and about 8" tall.
The issues are with the LinkSys software--not the hardware. You must download an iPhone or Android app to set up the network. In principle, this sounds good, but in practice, the app behaves more like beta software than a complete software product. I easily downloaded the app and started to set up my W-Fi network. But when I looked ahead to the next step, I got stuck and had to start all over.
It took about 15 minutes to set up the network. First, you set up the first node. When it is active, you place the second node in another location, and it connects to the first one. When the second node is active, then you place the third node in another location and it connects to the network.
Sounds simple. The problem came when I tried to connect two wireless HP printers. By the way, I am pretty tech savvy and have done this many times before. But Velop did not "see" my printers or showed them as inactive, and the app has no way of deleting a device.
I started an online chat with LinkSys to solve the printer connection issue. They directed me to a dedicated Velop tech support phone line. After almost two hours with the tech support guy doing a remote session on my laptop, the network and printers were functional.
The system is great, but the software is not. Thus, I cannot give it more than 3 stars.

I print less than 500 pages/month on my InkJet printers, but purchase the Extended Life (XL) cartridges because they do not clog or dry out. Not only are the XL cartridges a better buy than the standard cartridges, as a My Best Buy member, I get a discount on HP inks.

I recently purchased a new DSLR camera with a zoom lens, and the case that came with the camera was bulky and too big for everyday use. I researched different camera holster cases that can accommodate the kit zoom lens, and found this Case Logic Kontrast case. It is just the right size for everyday use, and does not get in the way when taking photos or video.
The Case Logic case is better than many others, because it has a suspension device, so the lens does not get jarred if the case is bumped. Case Logic also designed a hard, waterproof bottom so the case stands up. It has plenty of pockets to store an additional flash, extra batteries, the lens cap, an extra strap, and memory cards. And it is attractive, black nylon with lime green accent piping.
I did not pay list price, as Best Buy matched a competitor's price for this case.

Hoya is well-known for making sturdy and effective mid-priced camera filters, and this UV filter is no exception. I purchased it to protect the lens on my new Canon camera, and plan to leave it in place until I need a different filter, say, a polarizing filter, for artistic purposes.

We ran our dehumidifier for 8-12 hours per day, full force, to reduce the humidity in our house in Houston in the summer. It works! Pretty easy to operate, and you can set the desired humidity and run the unit in automatic mode once you do the initial "dry-out" of your home.
The dehumidifier has an attractive design and wheels for mobility. The only drawback is its weight, if you have a two-story home and must carry the unit upstairs and downstairs to use in different areas.

It took only a few minutes to start using my Bose Quiet Comfort 35 wireless headphones. Just flip the switch, pair with your Bluetooth phone (or other device), and follow the prompts on your phone to download the free Bose app.
The packaging is first class, and Bose provides a quality carrying case for the headphones. In addition to the headphones. the case holds a two-prong headphone jack for use on airplanes, a standard audio cable for non-Bluetooth use, and a short USB charging cable. Plug the mini USB end into the headphones and the standard USB end into your laptop, a USB car charger, or wall charger.
My headphones were near fully-charged out of the box. Color-coded lights tell you when the battery is low and when the Bluetooth is connected to your device. You can pair the headphones with two devices at a time... convenient if you want to use with your MacBook for Web conferences and with your smartphone for business calls.
I tried the headphones for music, game apps, and for a phone call--the microphone is built into the right earpiece, not intrusive like some headphone/mic combinations. The only issue was, the QC35 headphones fit over the ear and shield so much of the outside sound, that I could hear the person on the other end of the call perfectly, but could not hear myself! Used while playing games on my iPhone, the sound was consistently good, not jittery, like with other wireless headphones I have tried.
This is not a lightweight product, so I would not recommend for running or vigorous activities. If you want clarity and high fidelity, these headphones are for you.
First impression: a good product. I look forward to using the QC 35 headphones more, especially for air travel.

What's great about it: Easy setup, four ethernet ports, 2 USB ports
What's not so great: big footprint
The Linksys Max-Stream AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router is easy to set up. Just open the box, attach the three antennas, plug in the power supply, and attach to your cable modem with the supplied Ethernet cable. I had the router up and running in about 5 minutes. The Quick Start Guide does not mention this, but it is a good idea to position the middle antenna at 90 degrees (straight up) and the two other antennas outward at 45 degrees.
Managing the router is easy, with the Linksys online management site. You can change security, change the router name or password in seconds.
This is a dual-band router. When you set it up, you see a 2.4 GHz and a 5 GHz network. The manufacturer says that the 2.4 GHz network is fine for email and web browsing, and has a broader range of coverage; the 5 GHz network works better for gaming and streaming, and has a narrower range of coverage.
I would like the ability to mount this router near the ceiling, like I see in many business settings. It would eliminate some of the desk clutter. If the manufacturer provided such a bracket or mounting device, it would require a longer Ethernet cable to connect to the cable modem.

can I print envelopes? like 5x7. flash cards?
The paper tray accommodates many sizes of paper and types of photo stock. It can accommodate thicker paper and has a setting for this. I expect that it can easily print envelopes and index cards.

Yes. The USB port is on the left front of the printer and has a dust cover.

Can this printer scan 11X17 drawing sheets?
The scanner bed is too small to fit an entire 11 x 17-inch drawing. However, you can scan it in two parts if needed. I would recommend a large format printer/scanner/copier that accepts and prints up to 11 x 17-in or 13 x 19-inch documents.
