I love it when tech products just work and do what they are supposed to do. The Chromecast works great whether I want to watch YouTube vids with friends, Show my recent vacation pictures to my parents, or watch movies on Netflix. Whatever your media needs the Chromecast works great - all you need is an Android phone/tablet or iPhone/iPad and the Chromecast app and your good to go!
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Easy to Use, Amazing Sound, Waterproof, Versatile, Phone App to Control, Great Range
What's not so great: It's not cheap
If you're looking for a good cheap Bluetooth speaker then you're probably not even considering this because it is not cheap. But it is definitely a case of getting what you pay for and even though you're gonna have to fork out a good chunk of money for this speaker, you will get your money's worth from it. (FYI - I did a video review of this on YouTube you can search for if you want to see it - just search for hollywoodfrodo ultimate ears boom.)
This speaker is awesome! The sound from this rather small thing is pretty mind boggling. Small things like the very understated sounds it makes when you power on/off or it connects to a device show really smart attention to detail when engineering it. It looks great. It's water resistant - YES, I tested this by running it under the faucet while playing music. It feels good in the hand. The rubber top/bottom provide a nice grip to the surface you set it on, but it also comes with a D-Ring on one end so you can hang it if you want.
It charges using Micro-USB and even though it comes with a charger and charging cord, you may not need it because if you own an Android phone you probably already have a micro-usb charger which will also work to charge it!
The Bluetooth has really great range that lives up to the specifications and the battery seems to last as long as specified as well though I have not yet exhausted it myself since I generally listen for 2-3 hours at a time and charge it up about once or twice a week. The volume buttons on the device are both stylish and easy to use. I also appreciate that Logitech included an auxiliary jack in case you have a device that doesn't have Bluetooth or you just want to make the battery last even twice as long as it already does. Also the included NFC pairing is great for people with Android phones (most Android phones have NFC) which allows you to pair or connect with a simple tap.
I love the app they created for it (both iOS and Android) that allows you to control certain aspects of the UE Book including equalizer and alarm. And if you have two of these you can use the app to set them up as right/left stereo speakers. We did this using mine with a friend's and it works great. It sounded as good as a decent home surround system.
Overall, as with most Logitech products, I have been very impressed with the UE Boom. It really comes down to finances. If you don't have the money for it, then there are less expensive options but they also won't have all the features and the sound that this does.

Are you limited in the app on how many devices can be programmed. I don't plan to use the remote, I want to use this with Amazon Echo instead. Seams like it should have unlimited if you don't have to worry about how many programmable remote buttons.
Read my review for info on Amazon Echo integration. It's okay, but VERY limited at the moment - not as great as they make it sound. And you are limited to controlling 8 devices with this. However, direct integration "Alexa, Turn on TV" only works to do just that - turn on equipment for specific purpose (like "watch a movie" to turn on tv/receiver/bluray or "turn on fire stick" to turn on tv/receiver/fire stick and go to right input). Extra Alexa Skill app allows you to say "Alexa, tell Harmony to..." and then adds only 4-5 more commands. That's it. No ability to create custom commands which is what i was expecting.

What accessories go with this device? Is there a pen that can be used? My Surface has a pen and I think I would be lost without it....
You can buy/use a standard stylus with this, but it does not have the special "stylus use detection" system that allows the tablet to ignore your hand touches and only react to the stylus. So this will not provide the same stylus functionality you're used to with the surface.

Can this device run Microsoft Office? How do you install it then if so?
Microsoft makes Android Apps for all their products. You don't install "Office" per se, but on the Google Play Android App store just look for Microsoft and you'll find an app for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Notes, and more from Microsoft designed specifically for Android.
