What's great about it: good price, battery life, it's light, easy to setup, works good, can use w/ext monitor, 2 USB ports and one is 3.0, hdmi

What's not so great: touch pad click makes a sound

I am an IT professional and I use this computer for personal use. So far I've used it to stream shows to TV via HDMI cable, iTunes, browse the internet, read books, scanning using Nuance Paperport, I installed that but it has a scanning feature, zipping docs using 7Zip, freeware that I installed, downloading/uploading files and I have it wirelessly connected to my printer and WIFI.

This laptop has what most people need in terms of processor speed and memory and the price $229 is great #got it on tax free weekend so even better#. I thought about an Apple but I could by 4 or 5 of these for the price of that and everything gets so old so why bother. If you are a serious gamer or like to do lots of music and video editing then this wouldn't be for you but for most of people it's just right. It doesn't have MS Office. You have to use a copy you already have or buy it but that's normal when you are buying a computer.

The battery lasts about 4 hours which is good.

The speaker isn't the best but it works. I plug in some speakers I have so it don't even think about it anyway. It only has the 1 audio plug in. When you plug in it asks if it's stereo, headset or headphone so you can't have a headset and stereo both plugged in if you are used to that.

You can connect another monitor to it to it if you want to extend your desktop. It can also burn CDs.

It uses Windows 8 which has been an adjustment but once you play around with it it's not really an issue #still like XP better, lol). Windows 8 is what everything's going to anyway so just accept and learn it now. It sucks that I have to login to the computer with a Hotmail account. Microsoft needs to but out of my computer logins.

The only minor complaint I have is that the click on the right and left button of the touchpad has a hard click, makes a noise but I use a mouse most of the time so no big deal. The touchpad does work though.

I've seen a lot of people complain about the case being plastic, not sure what they are talking about because most laptops are all plastic, even if you se silver bits they are usually plastic, it makes it lighter. I wouldn't go throwing the thing on the floor but I wouldn't recommend doing that with any computer.

This product is... Perfect for Business, Big screen size, poor sound quality, A nice compact size, easy to set up, lightning fast

Microsoft office?

Does this have Microsoft Office or would I need to install it/ purchase it ?

you'd have to purchase it, Microsoft doesn't usually give that away. If you know a college student they maybe able to get you a discount on a student edition.

Do you have cell service? If you do you might be able to get through them.

I am having trouble seeing -- is the screen a touch-screen?

No they have another one that is for about 400 but I looked at it and someone complained that ASUS warranty didn't cover the touch screen and it would be 250 to fix

Windows 8.1 and Wifi problems?

I've read different reviews about laptops running Windows 8.1 unable to connect because of wifi problems.

Question is, does this Asus X551MAV-RCLN06 laptop have the wifi issues associated with Windows 8.1?

is the battery replaceable

I'm not seeing a place to remove the battery. Don't know if you have to unscrew the back to get to it but I would say no or at least not easily.

Why wouldn't I want this laptop?

What WON'T I like about this laptop?

If you are a serious gamer or a graphic designer or like to edit loads of music and video then you would want a different laptop (more like 8 gb memory).
