What's great about it: good price, battery life, it's light, easy to setup, works good, can use w/ext monitor, 2 USB ports and one is 3.0, hdmi

What's not so great: touch pad click makes a sound

I am an IT professional and I use this computer for personal use. So far I've used it to stream shows to TV via HDMI cable, iTunes, browse the internet, read books, scanning using Nuance Paperport, I installed that but it has a scanning feature, zipping docs using 7Zip, freeware that I installed, downloading/uploading files and I have it wirelessly connected to my printer and WIFI.

This laptop has what most people need in terms of processor speed and memory and the price $229 is great #got it on tax free weekend so even better#. I thought about an Apple but I could by 4 or 5 of these for the price of that and everything gets so old so why bother. If you are a serious gamer or like to do lots of music and video editing then this wouldn't be for you but for most of people it's just right. It doesn't have MS Office. You have to use a copy you already have or buy it but that's normal when you are buying a computer.

The battery lasts about 4 hours which is good.

The speaker isn't the best but it works. I plug in some speakers I have so it don't even think about it anyway. It only has the 1 audio plug in. When you plug in it asks if it's stereo, headset or headphone so you can't have a headset and stereo both plugged in if you are used to that.

You can connect another monitor to it to it if you want to extend your desktop. It can also burn CDs.

It uses Windows 8 which has been an adjustment but once you play around with it it's not really an issue #still like XP better, lol). Windows 8 is what everything's going to anyway so just accept and learn it now. It sucks that I have to login to the computer with a Hotmail account. Microsoft needs to but out of my computer logins.

The only minor complaint I have is that the click on the right and left button of the touchpad has a hard click, makes a noise but I use a mouse most of the time so no big deal. The touchpad does work though.

I've seen a lot of people complain about the case being plastic, not sure what they are talking about because most laptops are all plastic, even if you se silver bits they are usually plastic, it makes it lighter. I wouldn't go throwing the thing on the floor but I wouldn't recommend doing that with any computer.

This product is... Perfect for Business, Big screen size, poor sound quality, A nice compact size, easy to set up, lightning fast

noise

I purchased this computer a few days ago. I'm not that savvy when it comes to computers and was wondering if it is normal for a new computer to constantly be making noise? It's not too loud, but it's noticeable.

I hear a slight click noise when it's accessing the hard drive but I'm not worried about it.

Are there games you cant play even with render distance on low,etc

If you are a serious gamer then you probably want 8gb memory instead of 4 gb. Check the specs on the game. They are all different. Also Best Buy has a 15 day return policy so you could always try it out.

can you download photoshop/ms products?

i use photoshop for drawing digitally and ms word for writing, so i was wondering if this laptop can download them, and if it can, will it slow the system down? x

You can although if you are a professional like a graphics designer you probably want to get 8gb instead of 4gb memory

Problem with keyboard Volume keys

The volume keys do not work. Do I need to do any set up procedures to get the keyboard buttons to work?

Hold the fn key and the volume down or up key at the same time.
i.e. fn +11 to lower volume or fn +12 to up volume

Is there a SD memory card slot?

No it has USB slots but you can get an adapter/reader for like 10 bucks that plugs in via the usb slot.

Cannot Open CD Drive

Is there a way to open the CD drive? It's just a plastic part on the right side of the laptop that doesn't have an eject button. Is it correctly advertised? Thanks!

It should be on the right side, mine has a little button in the middle of it that you press.

Does the adapter cover 220v ?

I will buy this laptop for my mom in Korea.
In Korea, we use 220V, not 110v like America.
Question is that is the adapter dual voltage that covers up to 220V ?
Usually, Apple devices' adapters cover 100~240v. I wonder if this product is the same like apple.
