My mom decided that this was the tracker she wanted after I tried it out for a week to see if it would do what she wanted. She wanted the basics of an activity tracker with the option of getting her heart rate if she wanted, while being a clip on model instead of wristband. I told her the Pulse wasn't something I would want myself and had a few drawbacks but it had the qualities she wanted.
She ended up loving it. She said she only takes her pulse during a few workouts and that's as much information she needed, she is no health nut. She actually ended up not using the clip or band and sticks it in her pocket bare instead. She uses all the features including sleep tracking, everyday. I got a protection plan on it because I didn't trust it at the start and I know she'd be upset if I needed to get another one if it quit working like so many people have said in the reviews. So far haven't had to replace it and she's had it for about a year now.
The good stuff?
If you want a clip on tracker I actually liked the main function of the Withings Pulse.
The device is perfect for the basics without any apparent issue. Such as: Battery life, step counting, distance, elevation and sleep.
This is definitely for the more casual user, not a workout nut like it may advertise. It's versatile with a clip on holder and wrist band holder. If you want to wear it wrist band style like the popular Fitbit, Jawbone and Garmin products without purchasing additional accessories it's very easy. The 2 week battery life makes it lower maintenance then most other rechargeable trackers. It does Heart Rate, so if you want to see it while doing a workout or run if desired it can be done without counting yourself.
The app for the Pulse is good by all means and lays out your information in a way that makes sense, so you can get a direction to your end goal of wellness, and see progression over time.
It gives you options and a taste of everything. If this was released closer to the Fitbit one I would have strongly consider purchasing one instead of my first activity tracker the Fitbit One. That is a closer comparison to the pulse for style and features in my opinion than the Fitbit Charge HR and other popular activity trackers it is in selling among.
Compared to other less popular activity trackers that are clip on, I find quality here based on my experience. I would say it's a great clip on tracker for those who want to watch their activity and get motivated. If interested there's also a scale you can invest in that will work along side your tracker to show you everything you want to know, wirelessly on you smartphone device. Also not as expensive as other trackers that have similar capabilities.
Now for the draw backs...
There have been a lot of reviews on here stating it just quit working. Which I figured would happen to hers after hearing a few things here and there. We never did run into this issue thankfully, but it complained about a lot. So a fair warning this has been happening to people before you go out and buy this product.
The biggest thing you need to know about the Pulse, is that the blood oxygen level feature is not something you should buy this for. The technology was obviously rushed into and has apparent issues, it's not going to work like it sounds. It can be off for readings and it's not reliable. It can be very slow and it take multiple attempts to get a good reading, then again, most of the time this wasn't a big issue because it was not purchased for that reason in this case unlike many others.
The heart rate/blood oxygen levels can only be measured with your finger. So don't expect this to operate like the heart rate monitors on some wrist strap activity monitors. It has to come out of the clip or wristband if you want to check this information. It takes more time because of the design and is more inconvenient, I would only consider this a perk at most and not the main reason to buy the Pulse.
The calorie counter on the devices that can do heart rate quickly and frequently without hassle are going to be more accurate. If you want to know how much your burning very closely and accurately, you're better off having a tracker with a quicker response on the readings that are also more frequent.
If you want to switch between the clip and arm band then I hope you're not too worried about the appearance of the wrist band, it looks very odd and thrown together.
The Pulse is a great idea, but it has flaws and some unreliability in a couple areas. But if you are looking for something with more flexibility without paying a lot. I'd suggest giving it a try. In the end my Mom is happy and has a better way to watch her health and get moving more.
I don't regret buying it for her.
This tracker isn't for everybody but there are some who really enjoy it for their needs, if the cons out weigh the pros listed above then I'd suggest looking at a different tracker.
Hope this helps!

I purchased my Fitbit HR quite a while back close to their release date. As did my boyfriend (he wears a large and I wear a small). The setup was a breeze and we were ticking before we knew it!
My heart rate likes to jump while running so I've been keeping an eye on it, which is super helpful when it is right on your wrist! Also on the app it has a built in feature that when your heart rate reaches a certain speed it calls it "Active Minutes" so you see how much you've been active over weeks/months.
If you are trying to decide between the HR and regular I'd highly suggest the HR if your goal is to lose weight. Since if you use the regular it cannot accurately tell you how many calories you are burning.
Even if you are not a runner, everyone's heart rates are different and those with higher heart rates tend to burn more calories. Everyone can't be measured the same because our bodies are all different. My boyfriend's heart rate is slower than mine, if we had the same movement through a day it would show I've burned more calories since mine is faster.
But don't overwork your heart while exercising!
Also there are graphs on the app for tracking heart rate over time along with the usual steps! Also some fun competitive games between friends for steps!
If you invest in a Fitbit Aria you can also track your weight over time as well! It pairs perfectly if you're looking to lose weight!
You might call us a Fitbit Family!
As far as size works, most people wear the large. I can fit in a large still comfortably but the small is the best size for me so I don't have a lot of slack. The large is perfect for my boyfriend and he did try the XL (only sold on Fitbit's site) and it was way too big. He has slightly larger wrists than most men. But I am on the third to the last notch and I have smaller than the average ladies wrist! So large fits most. If you need to try one out I'd say large first, small second!
Enjoy your STEPS to a healthier you!
(Pun intended)

My father still has a iPhone 4 and we got this case for him when he got the phone 3 years ago. Case has held up wonderfully and still sealed. Recently the belt clip broke, but he uses it everyday so I was honestly surprised it lasted as long as it did! But it gets better, I had the option to buy a new one for $20, but I instead decided to give their manufacturer warranty a try.
The gal was outstanding that I worked with on the phone. He's bad with his hands so he had trouble taking off the actual case, and he lives 4 hours away from me so I wasn't able to aide him. I explained this to her and she said it was no problem since I offered to send photos of the clip that he sent to me.
So to sum it up, lifeproof makes OUTSTANDING cases and backs up all of their products with an amazing warranty so just in case that three years down the road (really dad, get an upgrade already) you can get your product replaced.
I'll never hesitate to get a lifeproof case from Best Buy!

Does it work for Hot Yoga?

I've read a few times the Charge HR is not waterproof. I want to use it in Hot Yoga, but you sweat a lot , so has anyone tried this successfully?
I've actually got a great experience to share that will put you to ease. After a week of owning my Charge HR I accidentally submerged my device underwater in a hot tub for 5-10 minutes. I thought for sure it was broken, but it still works and I purchased mine near the release date of the first Charge HR.
Now, that being said, it does say on the box that it is not waterproof. But we are talking about not submerging it, showering with it or anything that involves a lot of water exposure.
If we are talking about any rain or some hardcore sweating keep in mind Fitbit has designed this product for the active consumer keeping in mind it be worn for longer periods of time. So the design is made to withstand some moisture or body sweat. I've sweated plenty with mine and submerged it but it still ticks to this day!
If you want to put your mind at ease the Geek Squad accidental coverage on this will cover MOISTURE damage and normal wear and tear along with other things but keep in mind it does not cover damage from body fluids or full submersion.
But all that put aside and a long standing owner's opinion?
You should be just fine.
Just make sure you follow proper care instructions for your Fitbit provided in the packaging.

Oh and don't try submerging it. I might've just been lucky!
Hope this helps!

How do i get phone numbers to show on my fitbit? it keeps saying failedd i have a Samsung Galaxy 111
Several things can come into play here, Buddy. For a start it is a known issue that some android devices have issues with this feature, Fitbit is working on a fix as we speak.
That being said when I had a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 it wasn't an issue.
Things you can do for your own troubleshooting:
- Take notice if this is happening while the two devices are syncing, this will interrupt it. Sounds like this is a constant issue though and the Fitbit does not constantly sync.
- Check your Bluetooth and if other devices and interrupting the notifications.
- Make sure your Android Operating System is on version 4.3 or later.
- Make sure your two devices are within 20 feet of each other. Distance can interfere with this.
- Update your Fitbit App on your smartphone.
- Disconnect and reconnect your Fitbit on the App also double check your notification setting on the app after reconnecting.
Lastly:
- Restart your Fitbit, this link will show you how: http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/How-do-I-restart-my-tracker
If the problem persists go to your local Best Buy for assistance with a Samsung or Best Buy representative, call Fitbit customer service, or more information is on this page: http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/I-m-having-trouble-setting-up-call-notifications-on-the-Fitbit-app-for-Android

With most issues restarting your Fitbit device will correct it.

does it have a stopwatch?

Yes it does, simply hold down the button on the side of your Charge HR until the stopwatch icon appears and begins counting. Once you are done with your workout hold the button down again and it stop. It will then show on your app or dashboard once you sync a minute by minute assessment of your work out. This will show the time-lapse of these features: Heart Rate, Calories, Steps, Stairs, Distance, and time of day. So you can see how efficient the activity was for you.
I really like this feature for when I go on runs.

It comes with a USB cable that you can plug straight into your computer for charging but for wall charging you will need a USB to wall charger. You most likely have one lying around somewhere. If not, they are pretty cheap.

Will it track your movements if you are cycling?

I often am biking for exercise and to get around. I would like to know how it tracks or if it tracks that activity.
So here's the deal, the Charge HR will record your steps and Heart Rate. But it may not accurately represent cycling for your movement in representation of steps. But while your heart rate rises it will continue to record the calories burned if you are hitting your target HR zone. It also records the heightened heart rate as "Active Minutes" which is a representation of how long you exercised while keeping your heart rate higher.
There are trackers that don't have HR tracking that can more accurately evaluate your activity while biking, for example the Shine. But the HR recording is very important if you want to burn calories effectively.
The Garmin vivofit does cycling recording and HR with the HR monitor strapped around your chest but I'm sure you can see how it's more convenient to have that feature on a smaller scale, on your wrist. Along with the Fitbit recording it daily so you can get a more accurate burned calories counter over a span of time instead of just during work outs.
Hope this helps!

Will it work if you ocasonily If you carry in your pocket

Bon it will still record steps if you need to occasionally carry it in your pocket. But do keep in mind since it is meant for your wrists it may not record as many steps then being on your waist. But it will get the job done for the most part.
I do put mine in my pocket here and there and it shows minimal difference in steps.
Of course, the HR function will not work while in your pocket.

Will it work if you carry in pocket

Bob it will still record steps while in your pocket but might not be as accurate. The HR function would also be obsolete. I would recommend the Fitbit One to you if you rather keep it in your pocket and don't care much for HR readings. This is made for being near the center of your body so it is more sensitive. The Charge is made for your wrists which move more while walking so it is less sensitive when near the center of your body, so it may record less steps.
But the occasional carrying it in your pocket will still be okay if need-be!
Hope this helps!

How do I get information from fit bit into computer?

The Fitbit HR will come with a Bluetooth dongle (USB plug in) that will allow you to setup your Charge or view your statistics. You can download the "Fitbit Dashboard" from Fitbit's website. Then simply follow the instructions on Fitbit's site or on the dashboard!

Is there an alarm when you exceed your H R max?

No Pete, there is not. If you have heart health issues (like me) or need to keep it at a specific BPM than you can check it for your current HR at that exact time while by pressing the button on the side of the device. And slow down when you reach your limit. I can see how this might be inconvenient.
If you need an alarm for your max HR than this product won't be able to do that for you. I'm sure there are products out there that can fit the bill though.
Consult with your doctor for something better if you need an alarm for health concerns.
Hope this helps!
