What's great about it: Price, Design, Quiet, Quick, Small, Asus
What's not so great: Keyboard & Mouse
Looking for a mid-range computer at a decent price? Look no further! This computer has done everything I've needed it to do since the day I opened up the box. I regularly do coding in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, Java, C, C++, Python etc... an the multi-tasking of this computer is excellent for the price.
If you plan on gaming on this computer I can tell you this. Most games that you probably want to play like Battlefield 4, Call of Duty, etc... are not going to play very well on this machine. Now if you are wanting to play games like Sims 3, SimCity 4, SimCity 2013, Roller Coaster Tycoon, an internet games or similar to any of those it will perform amazingly. Of course you can always add a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit# as it has 2 PCIe x16 slots one with 16 lanes and 1 with 4 lanes. #If you know what I'm talking about# I plan on putting in an AMD P9 270 an than it will rock most every game I throw at it with decent settings.
It does have the A-10 6700 Radeon HD 8670D APU #Accelerated Processing Unit# in place of your standard CPU #Central Processing Unit) but as great as the machine has performed for me I would say APU's are going to soon be the new standard as far as everyday computing or anything aside from gaming. I can sit here an code, have iheart radio playing, have several webpages open, an still have plenty of power to do more. Don't listen to what others have told you, this machine performs very well in the multi-tasking department long as you aren't running any very high-end software programs with intensive graphic interfaces you will never miss a beat with this machine.
So definitely if you are in these reviews seeing what others have said, you can take my word that this machine has everything you need in a computer on a budget. Though do keep in mind you will need a monitor but it has HDMI out on the back. So if you have an HDTV take this bad boy home plug it up an turn it on, than you're good to go.
Now, on to the mouse an keyboard. They are not bad, I only mentioned them because the wires seem to tangle easily. The actual software an hardware part of the devices are perfect. It's just the quality of the coating on the wires going to your machine from them. I've used them almost constantly since I got this computer an they still have kinks in them from when I first took the bread ties off. Though for most of you that will not be an issue. I just wanted to point that out though.
9/10 stars very decent machine for the price you won't be disappointed.

refurbished desktop
If I bought a refurbished desktop from your marketplace how is my data from my old computer transferred to the new one?
You date or any files, folders, pictures, music, etc... is stored on your hard drive. You would have to transfer it yourself but it wouldn't be very hard (depending on how much you have)

HDMI and USB ports for all-in-one computers
What are the advantages of and use for an HDMI portal, and are USB ports usually included in all-in-ones that have the HDMI portal?
HDMI carries both video & audio in High Quality (High Definition - HD) to the computer from an external source or from the computer to an external source.

Can I use my presant Keyboard and mouse with HPpavillion 500-214 ? I plan on buying
Does the HP PAVILION 500-124 require a mouse and keyboard ? if so can I use my presant keyboard Model# 5189URF( K) and mouse Model# 5189URF (m) ? Both are wireless.
As long as you can download the drivers for the hardware (mouse & keyboard) than you should be fine. Most should automatically find an download the driver (plug-n-play tech)

desktop or all-in-one?
If you are a gamer definitely go for the Desktop. The All-in-One computers are mainly space savers for office type people. The downside is that they aren't easily upgraded if at all. I'm sure opening it up would be a nightmare for the average person an I wouldn't recommend it. However it is very commonplace for a regular desktop to be opened up by the average person an upgraded very simply.

can it run on battery and if so for how long
If you are speaking in terms of a laptop type of battery than no. Though I'm sure if you have an external charged power source capable of a 3 prong ac cord than it could run out in the middle of a field if you had reason for it too lol

Can i upgrade this to Windows 8.1 for free?
Yes, once you purchase it an you have it back at your house (connected to wifi or Ethernet internet - it comes with a built-in wifi) you will need to do several system windows updates (very easily done - may take a little while) but after all that you can go to the store app (the green square app with the white shopping bag on it) an it should have a big purple square in the beginning of the store asking you if you want to upgrade to windows 8.1 (yes its free - and better in my opinion) after that you should be set.

how long until their is more of these computers?
They should still have some. I saw one on display at my local BestBuy just 3 days ago. I own one myself. I have to say it's simply the best desktop computer I've ever had for the price. Plays games, movies, etc... flawlessly. Unless of course you are worried about having games on ultra settings or something. Than you would need to buy a decent GPU (Grahpics card) an drop it in on the motherboard, plus a decent power supply. After that you'd have a very nice mid-range computer on a budget. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Can this run BF4
Can this computer run BF4 if it can will it be laggy?
With settings on close to if not the lowest an on a small screen (not a 32" + HDTV) it will run it. I'd recommend another computer for that type of gaming or buy this one an purchase a GPU (Graphics Card) once you save up some more money. You can get a top of the line one for around $150-$225 an you will be set than.

What's the NAME of the motherboard that includes this PC?

It has the Socket-type FM2 if you are looking into what kind of CPU or APU you will be able to drop in it upon purchase. It comes with the APU A-10 6700 Radeon HD 8670D which I might add is a fairly decent chip for most people.

what graphics card could i buy to put directly in the system?
I do mostly gaming on my pc and was going to get a proper graphics card to boost my speed etc. can anyone point me in the direction of a good graphics card i can use for this pc? thanks.
You can practically buy any graphics card you want as long as it fits. Though I should mention that it might be a good idea to stick with AMD since the APU already has an integrated AMD Radeon HD 8670D.
I'm going to be installing an AMD Radeon R9 270 before too long as long as it fits in the case.
When you buy a graphics card make sure you upgrade your power supply unit (PSU) an install another fan on the extra space for a fan on the back. A graphics card (GPU) is going to add extra heat an the computer is already kinda small. 500-600 watt PSU should do you an I guess any fan will be better than no fan at all.
