Can a DVR or VCR player/recorder be used with any of the new flat screen tvs?
Looking at being able to hook up VCR player/recorder to a small 19" LED flat screen tv. Is it possible to record anything anymore... if so, what connections or equipment is needed? Does it have anything to do with a tuner in tv ? I don't know what to look for.
First of all, you need to connect from cable box (if you have one) yellow video "OUT" as well as red and white audio "OUT" to IN on VCR. This gives the VCR the audio and video from the cable box. Next, connect from the VCR out a second set of yellow, red and white cables to a similar IN on the TV. Many newer tv's do not have a yellow (CALLED COMPOSITE) input any longer, but you can use the green component video input for the yellow composite cable. This will give the TV the video signal. Next connect the red/white audio to audio IN on the tv. To record, the cable box must be on the channel you wish to record. It is not like a DVR which can be recording one channel while watching another. If you don't have a cable box, connect the coax cable from the wall into the VCR in, and then coax out to tv. Now you can also record what show you want. Remember to use the VCR timer. Hope you understand.
