How do you cut the bag so your sealed package can be removed from the machine from where it is clamped and sealed shut?

I have listed below some steps to make custom bags and vacuum-seal your foods:

1 - Seal the open side of the roll.

2 - decide the length of the bag and cut with scissors.

3 - put your items/food inside (leaving at least 3 inches of empty space on the open side of the bag).

4 - Accommodate your bag into the drip tray, close the lid and press the vac-seal button.

Are the bags easily pulled off the roll of bags (i.e., perforated separation lines like the plastic bags in grocery store produce sections? or separate bags that just fall off the roll?) or do you have to cut them off with a scissors?

Our FoodSaver rolls don't have any perforations, they just a continuous roll. This will give you control over the length of the bag you want or need to make. Thanks!

I need to buy container that will accomodate a full loaf of bread, to be used in conjunction with Food Saver V-4800

There is not a specific canister to vacuum pack bread, but you can separate the loaf into different canisters and seal each separately. It has been our experience that if you must vacuum pack the same loaf more than once, it tends to remove the flavor of the bread and can make the bread go flat, which is why we advise using multiple canisters.

All FoodSaver Vacuum Sealing Systems have an accessory hose that is compatible with the FoodSaver Regular and Wide Mouth Jar Sealers. The only exception is the FreshSaver Handheld system. This model FoodSaver comes with a retractable accessory hose that is compatible. The jar sealers will have to be purchased separately.

Which vacuum seal bags can you use?

do you have to use the same brand of bags for this sealer or can you use any brand?

To vacuum package with the FoodSaver®, you must use the FoodSaver® Bags. They are specially designed to be strong enough for vacuum packaging and the waffle pattern in the bag is a patented design that makes sure air does not get caught in pockets around the food. FoodSaver® Bags have five layers, including an outer layer of nylon. This configuration completely prevents air and moisture from getting back into the bag and prevents odors from getting out or in.
