Are the drive shaft and blade base both metal? Are replacement blades available? I haven't been able to get replacement blades for my current Oster blender and doubt support for this one.

I have an older blender which is failing. The glass carafe (and a new ring/gasket/blade) are still fine. I gather this processor has a plastic carafe. Would mine fit this base? It was a 16 speed and I'd like to get the the food processor attachment.
