Excellent question! The main thing to consider when using a drip pan for your washer is the leveling. Often times using a pan under the washer (or pedestal) can make it difficult to properly level the unit, which can cause issues when in use. The other thing to note is that depending on the height of the lip of your pan, you may be unable to open the pedestal drawer fully. ^Jecca

Thanks so much for asking, CHristina! For this model, as you are facing the washer the hinge of the door will be on the left hand side, and the opening to the right. As for the dryer, currently all Samsung dryer doors can be reversed to open from either direction. ^Jecca
