Hi Hopeful - Some DVD players do have HDMI - VCRs usually don't. However, the TU8000 just happens to have the connection for the red, white and yellow cables that are needed, as well as HDMI. You will be taking analog and converting it to digital so the quality will not be as good as the TV could do wth a Blu-Ray player. All Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-Ray players do play DVDs and CDs and do a great job at upscaling them. Does my new Samsung 55” tv have a protective film on it? We have a reflection from the window

Hi Lea - If there is a film on your TV, you will see a blue tab in the upper left hand corner. Some TVs do come with film protectors, while some may not. If you have a problem with continuous glare, you may want to consider the Samsung Q80T or up. They all have anti-Refection. Do I need a different hdmi cable? This is the first 4k tv have gotten and the hdmi that came with my Nintendo Switch isn't working on this Tv while it does on my old one and I even tried a different hdmi cable I had laying around with still no luck.
