we have a really dark TV room, can the brightness of the TV be too much for that type of room?

It depends on two things:

1. The settings in your picture menu.
2. The content you're watching.

You can change the settings in the TV to "Movie" mode, rather than "Dynamic", which is designed for brightly lit rooms. In other words, it's adjustable to your tastes, and you can change it for dark-room settings.

Movies filmed in the outdoors with higher lighting will be different than some of the more recent Marvell Comics or war movies, where the filming is done in lower lighting. So while it may be "too much" with a bright movie in Dynamic settings, most people can find a satisfying combination of television settings for every movie that they can enjoy.

Energy Usage

How much does the Plasma TV increase my Electric Bill over a similar sized & featured Energy Star Compliant TV?
This is difficult to answer, since it would depend on the television you're comparing it to, and how much the television will be used is not listed.

EnergyStar offers energy consumption figures for many televisions, and you can see what the specs would be for standby and "on" power consumptions.

Can I record tv programs on VHS?

I'm having trouble connecting my VCR to this television in order for me to record tv programming on a VHS. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can make this function?
In most cases, you would connect the VHS recorder between the television and the cable or satellite box.

For connection assistance, please consider reaching out to the Best Buy Geek Squad Agents for the best way to connect your devices to your television.

Can wireless speakers be interfaced with the Samsung tv for network television instead of the built in speakers?

There are some wireless options for speakers on our Home Theater systems, but not for the televisions. There is always a default speaker system on consumer televisions.

Picture-in-Picture

Does the UN40FH6030FXZA have a picture-in-picture feature? If no, are there any Samsung (or other brand) TVs that to that are no more that 36.5" in length (i.e. 37-40" diagonally) and are 1080p? (Bonus if it is 3D and / or has apps.) P-I-P is a great feature to have (I've had it on my main TVs since the 90s).
Picture in Picture features are usually found today in cable and satellite boxes. Televisions would otherwise need two tuners, and none of the Samsung models sold in 2013 will offer that.

What do I need to connect this TV to a MacBook Pro?

I just bought the 2013 MacBook Pro 13-inch: 2.6GHz with Retina display. I was wondering what cables I needed to hook up my laptop to this TV if I bought it?
The TV can use an HDMI cable input, but with some Mac computers, an additional cable may be required. You may want to check with the Best Buy Geek Squad for information based on the computer you own.
