Sam, the SmartThings Cam does allow Live video from a compatible iOS or Android phone with the newest SmartThings App. The SmartThings Camera will need to be plugged in and connected to WiFi. Thanks for asking, curious! A water line will need to be installed in order to use any of the steam functions on this dryer. If no water line is connected, the non-steam functions will still be available. ^Jecca
