500 sling box streaming

Posted a question earlier and one answer states you can't stream from 500. Can that person, Nokia explain more? They mentioned using Direct TV which was better than a cable company as they could watch one program and the other person watched their programs also by issuing a DVR. Not understanding this. If using a Roku which model or version is better? I am either using a computer or IPad in Germany with a sling box in the US. I need a basic explanation on how this works.

The Slingbox 500 can stream anywhere in the world when you have a internet connection. Slingbox has a 1:1 user ratio, think about if you are watching on your Slingbox & the person at home turns the TV on, they will be mirroring the exact image. We recommend attaching the Slingbox to a set-top box that is least likely used. If you are in Germany then the time difference will likely not interfere with what you are viewing. We work will numerous streamers. If you like Roku, than I would recommend the items they currently have on their website.

I haven't cable provedor, I can use slingbox without it?

Yes. You would need to connect the Slingbox to a family members home,friends, neighbors who have a working cable box.. This will allow you to stream their TV content.

My Daughter and son in law lives in san antoinio texas, it's a two hour deference from california, can we watch the lakers play at same time, could he watch from a remote. I have the box and he'll have remote, can he record it for later viewing? thank you

Yes. Slingbox mirrors exactly what you have on your TV or set top box. However, it is a 1:1 user ratio so you can watch the game at the same time but if you change channels it will change channels on the device being utilized for Slingbox. You can record it on the DVR & he/she can access that through Slingbox as well. They will be able to access anything in the DVR that is recorded & they also can DVR content remotely.

Does Slingbox 500 work with a box that only has HDMI output? I see that other models require component connectors

Slingbox 500 will work with HDMI &/or Component/Composite connections. We recommend connecting both if possible.

Can I send the sling box out put to my Apple tv

Yes. You can stream your Slingbox material via Air play to Apple TV. The Slingbox must be connected to a working cable top box.

Do I need a High Def TV to use the sling box 500?

The sling box will be connected to a High def smart TV but the tv receiving the stream is an LG LCD TV. Can the 500 still be used without affecting the quality in either end? Would the M2 be a better way to go?

The only difference in picture quality is that SB500 can be connected via HDMI (&/or component & composite). The M2 is only component or composite.

Sling box 500 does it work with Direct TV?

How does the sling box 500 work with Direct TV? I seen a review that said he couldn't get it to work. Does anyone know about this and do you need special cables, etc? Any issues with streaming from Direct Tv in US to Germany? What kind of DVR would anyone recommend?

Slingbox works on any cable box that has either HDMI &/or component & composite cables. All the cables are included in the box that is needed to connect. You can access your Slingbox anywhere in the world (including Germany) as long as you have a internet connection. The Slingbox only mirrors your TV so you have to use your DVR that is provided to you by Direct TV.

How exactly does this function with a streaming device?

I have both a Roku 3 and an Amazon stick, so I'm wondering exactly what the hookup would be that would enable me to access the programming of these devices.

is a chrome cast or Roku required to get the connection at the second location?

Looking at purchasing the 500 to be located in the states and streaming to Germany. is a Chromecast or Ruko or other streaming device required at the Germany location to acces the streaming? Due to the time difference can programs be recorded on a DVR in the US for viewing later and if so will watching those interfere with the person watching TV in the US?

Slingbox will work on any connected device (computer,tablet, phone). You can also broadcast TV to a streamer as such like the chromecast or Roku as you mentioned. Slingbox has full control over your TV. If you plan on using your DVR it would be in real time where the Slingbox is connected. Slingbox is a 1:1 user ratio, meaning whatever you are watching will directly reflect what is on the TV and visa versa. Since you are in Germany, the time zones should separate viewing parties.
