How do I use a microphone with this computer?? I plugged one into the headset option but it doesn't recognize it??

Be sure you are using the proper headset 3.5 mm jack on this computer, there are two. The headset jack is at the top of the computer, near the power button. The 3.5 mm jack on the back of the computer is earphones only.
