That will depend on the programs the student will be installing and the work that will be done with the device. This is an entry level, light use system. It will be good to Microsoft Office programs and browsing the internet. If this is the type of work the student will be performing, then this is a good choice.

Sure, as long as the Keyboard is USB and Windows 10 compatible.

Is it easy to upgrade this pc? For instance is it possible to install a new GPU and another stick of ram? Most pre-built have metal cages to prevent easy access does this pc have those?

There is no open slot for a GPU within this system. The maximum RAM for this system is 8GB.
