The Best Buy site says that PowerDVD and a trial of Microsoft Office are pre-installed on this machine. What version of PowerDVD is this, and will it allow DVD viewing without having to purchase or download additional software?

It will be the most current version of PowerDVD that was available at the time of the build of the system, of course when you set up the system, you will receive any new updates to the software. To play commercial movie DVDs you will need a Media Player software, either Microsoft's or a 3rd-party software player, you will need to purchase as it does not come with Windows 10 Home.

You can turn off the Dolby effect and there should be a "manual" mode for the Dolby Equalizer where you can create your own Dolby settings by selecting "custom settings".

This system comes with Windows 10 Home which has a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 365. After the 30-day trial you will need to purchase a product key to keep Microsoft Office (including Word) active.
