Doreen - The built-in Answering System of the VTech DS6151 does not have the capability to answer call waiting. If you are using only one line, you may subscribe to Voicemail service with your telephone company so callers have an option to leave a message if you are using the phone. If you have two lines connected to the VTech phone, you may subscribe to Rollover Service with your provider so the 2nd call will rollover to the 2nd line and the built-in answering system on L2 can pick up the call if you are engage on a call on L1.
