No problems thus far. I'm not a big fan of Linksys since Belkin bought it from Cisco, but this switch *seems* to perform well for the simple tasks that I need it to do (multiple devices sharing a single connection, home lab testing). It was on clearance when I bought it, so I took a chance.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Netgear routers have always been rock-solid for me; I use them for personal applications, and I recommend them to/install them for business clients.

Router compatible with modem?

I just bought a modem ARRIS CM820, will it be compatible with this router?
Thank you!
I would expect so, yes. I've used this with Arris modems and had no problems. Not the CM820 specifically, but there's no reason why it wouldn't work - those modems are simply passthrough devices that do no routing. You'd have to change settings on a DSL modem to turn it into a bridge, but cable modems simply pass Internet traffic through.

Best router for a two story, two BR apt.

Which router would you recommend for a two BR, two story apartment. One BR is in front and one in rear of upstairs. Where would be the best place to install the router if we need coverage in both BRs and the downstairs?
I would expect the Netgear AC1200 to suit your needs, depending on how many square feet you have. You may have to move the router around a bit if you find that you have weak coverage at the far end of the building. I have a Linksys E2500, which is a bit more powerful, and it covers my entire one-floor house. I usually have streaming video, online gaming, and general 'net surfing all going at the same time without much trouble. Stay away from current Linksys stuff, though, since Belkin bought it - go with a better Netgear router if you're worried about coverage and lots of wireless devices attached to it.

Do i need an internet provider?

So i am looking for a wireless router that i can use and pay for each month without the hassle of needing a internet provider, I want to be able to purchase this product and use it immediately, so does this product have what i want?
No - this is an Ethernet switch. It allows multiple wired Ethernet devices (computers, laptops, and others) to share a single Internet connection. You will need an Internet provider (CenturyLink, satellite, local cable provider) before you will have Internet service. Depending on the type of service you choose (cable Internet, DSL through CenturyLink), you can buy your own modem/router instead of using your provider's equipment.
