Depending on the laptop you use and what you use it for such as playing game or running your office programs really determines how long a 6 cell battery last. They typically last up to 2 hours when playing games but for the office programs about 4 hours.

You would have to purchase the memory separate and then have geek squad at your local Best Buy install it for you. As for cost it would be best to call your local Best Buy and get the prices for installing extra memory.
