Excellent Life Extender for old Laptop

We have two "old" (2008) MacBook laptops in the office and both of them were becoming sluggish. After looking at the price of complete replacements, I decided to try maxing out one of the laptops to see if that could extend their useful lifespan for less money.
The first step was to max out the RAM. If you have to choose a single upgrade, ALWAYS choose more RAM. But, if you can afford RAM and an updated hard drive (or you've already maxed out the RAM), a hybrid drive like this is the way to go.
By Hybrid, I mean that this is part FlashDrive and part old-school platter-based hard drive. The FlashDrive part (like the USB FlashDrive on your key chain, but faster) holds the most commonly accessed files on your computer, while the platters are used to store less-often used files.
Since the most commonly used files on any given computer are usually Operating System files, this usually leads to a big speed bump for your computer. Especially when starting up.
For the first laptop I installed this in, the boot time went from 2 minutes to about 30 seconds. The rest of the speed increases weren't quite as dramatic, but they were noticeable. I was so pleased with the results, I did the same upgrades to the other laptop, with similar results.
It also doesn't hurt that, at 1TB of available space, this provides a LOT more space (about 4 times more in the case of my old MacBooks) than most standard laptop drives. That additional space means more "leg room" for programs like Photoshop that need a lot of space for the storage of temporary files.

Excellent Router

I needed to replace an old server that had been doing both my network routing and file serving, and I wanted to get a dedicated router device.
This router was super simple to setup and easily handled all of the NAT rules from my old server. Within minutes I had this in place and the router features of the old server turned off. I did the switch over the weekend, and come Monday, neither my employees inside the company or the employees working from home noticed any difference.
The only problem I have with this device is that you can't reset the IP address of the device itself. So, I had to change the IP of the old server to something new and update the internal DNS to make sure everyone could still reach it after the switchover.
Highly recommended.

Can I put an SSD in this unit.
Can I put an ssd in this unit or does it only take hard drives only?
You should be able to put any 2.5" Serial ATA device into this. But, if you do put an SSD into it, you are restricting the speed at which the drive can get data to the computer. USB 3 is fast, but not as fast as an SSD plugged directly into the Serial ATA bus of your computer.
