Simplicity at its finest
on December 10, 2016
Posted by: Leonardo
The one word that I think best describes Google Wifi is simplicity. The minimalist design of the unit itself is definately more pleasing to the eye than the traditional bulky antennae routers. For someone who is not as tech-savy, this is the perfect product. Setup is as simple as it gets - you download the Google Wifi app on your smartphone, and then follow the onscreen instructions. I only had to type two things (wifi name, and password), and the app took care of the rest. You have the option of connecting more wifi points later to increase your signal, but I must say, I was still getting good speeds with one unit even with roughly four walls between us. Based on what the router itself can do, this product was most likely meant for those who want a basic router, but still have a feeling of control. You are able to manage things such as device priority and guest access. The app shows you network usage, and even allows you to test wifi signal strength. The best part is that you can access the App to check your network anywhere, not just from your home. This is certainly something that can be very difficult to setup on traditional routers.
While all of this is great, you might want to reconsider this product if you want more options from your router. For starters, there is only one ethernet port for your devices, which mean you would need to get a hub if you're planning on using multiple wired connections. This also means no usb ports for those of you looking to having network storage. A feature that may or may not be what you're looking for is that Google Wifi will automatically select between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz network for you, based on which is better. For most, this is not an issue, but it certainly is something to keep in mind if it is. All of these cons that I bring up may sound bad, but Google Wifi was not meant for those who are looking for an advanced router. It was meant to be a sleek, modern router that brings wifi throughout your entire house. It gives the average consumer easy access to setting up and managing their home network. For those goals, Google has done an excellent job with this product. I would recommend this to anyone looking for more simplicity in their life.

Great for those planning on going wireless
on November 29, 2016

In my experience, sony has always produced excellent headphones. The MDR-XB80BS is no exception as it meets and exceeded my expectation for wireless in-ear headphones. To begin, the comfortability of the headphone is as it should be. It sits in your ear without feeling like a burden. And, as advertised, they stay in your ear through any rigirous workout/exercise you intend to do. This could be improved though, in my opinion, if the wire that connects the two earpieces together could be a little shorter. It seems that the wire would brush up against any shirt that contains a collar, and can produce the similar effect of someone yanking on your earphones. As for the wireless part, these earphones have great battery life - I've had wireless headphones that don't last as long. Bluetooth pairing is a breeze, as it should be. However, the buttons on the earpieces itself feel a little too stiff to me, and it is probably something that I'll eventually get used to. Overall, it's a great pair of headphones. They're compact, and certaininly designed to take a beating. I would definitely recomment this to anyone looking for a pair to go along with their daily routine.

Excellent Router
on October 22, 2016
Posted by: Leonardo
The new Linksys WRT3200ACM router has everything you would expect from a router an more. There were a few key points that differentiate this router from the rest, and that is its performance and ease of use. Like most routers, setup was simple and the step-by-step instructions were clear to follow, even for someone that is less technical. However, the admin page that comes after is definitely its strong point. The ability for a user to customize their home page after logging in allows monitoring of activity much easier. Something as simple as monitoring internet usage from each connected device is only two clicks away! Trivial functions such as parental controls and guest access are configurable without needing to read a guide.
As for performance, this router has no trouble in keeping up with today's internet needs. The advertised MU-MIMO technology shined through after testing streaming 1080p-4k videos across multiple devices (smartphone, tablet, 2 PC's). All devices did not have to pause to buffer, and was able to maintain the same low ping as usual while playing Overwatch. However, the same cannot be said when another device is given the ability to download at full bandwidth (games through steam). When testing this setup (one PC downloading a game, while another is playing Overwatch), there was definitely a noticeable lag. The normal ping of 30 shoots up to 400. With Linksys' media prioritization, that ping was reduced to around 150-200. Although it is not desirable to play at even 150 ping, it is still better than 400.
Overall, this router can certainly pull its own weight. There is no doubt that it can handle the demand of multiple users. This router is deserving of the high ratings its received.

Beats that are worthwhile?
on July 9, 2016
Posted by: Leonardo
from Westminster, CO
Verified Purchase:Yes
INTRODUCTION:
I consider myself to be a headphone/audio enthusiast. I spend a good bit of time trying different headphones. So it was a surprise to me when the audiophile community started to talk about how the Beats Solo 2 sounded good—especially compared to the previous generation Solo HD. As a result, when I saw the Solo 2's go on sale at Best Buy, I decided to pick them up and make my own assessment.
UNBOXING (5/5):
The unboxing experience of the Solo 2's is very pleasant compared to many other headphones. I'd rather have them spend more R&D in the product itself, rather than being flashy and mass marketing. But the unboxing experience is simple and pleasant. The Solo 2's come in a soft case. Don't expect the case to protect the headphones too much, but it's nice that they've included it.
BUILD (3/5):
The Solo 2's are primarily made up of plastic—a very glossy plastic. As a result, they attract fingerprints and smudges very easily. They fold in, which certainly helps make them more portable. It is obvious that the Beats designers constructed these headphones to be portable so that you can show them off in public. The style is simple, understated—which is what I like in terms of a visual aesthetic.
COMFORT (3/5):
The Solo 2's leave a good bit to be desired in terms of comfort. They are on-ear headphones, so they have to have enough clamping force on your ears to stay on your head. That being said, these have too much clamping force for me to enjoy them for long periods of time. After a while, your ears might get sweaty. They might need more breaking in, but with the hard plastic build, there's not a lot of bending I can do to reduce the clamping force—at least not without breaking the headband. The ear pads are very soft and comfortable, but the clamping force seems to negate that cushion. As for the headband, it's not bad. There's minimal padding, even though it looks like there's a good amount (maybe 1/4 inch of actual padding).
SOUND (4/5):
In terms of sound, these Beats have a pleasant sound signature. They're nothing to gush over, by any means—but if you like bass, then these Beats definitely deliver that. And with decent sub-bass so you can 'feel' the sound. I'd describe the sound signature as being fairly detailed with recessed highs to prevent fatigue, and accentuation in bass for those who like to feel their music. But if you've got a pair of Beats, you're probably listening to electronic, pop, rap, or hip-hop—as that's the type of music that these headphones are tuned for. They're called Beats for a reason, after all!
CONVENIENCE (4/5):
These headphones have an inline remote for Apple devices. You're able to play/pause, skip tracks (forward and back), and adjust the volume. On Android devices, I found that the volume controls don't work, but everything else did. As mentioned earlier, the headphones do collapse/fold in, which is great for portability. They have a small form factor, so it's pretty easy to fold them up, put them in the included carrying case, zip it up, and throw it in your bag.
OVERALL (4/5):
The Beats Solo 2 deliver good sound quality and portability, but they need to improve their construction materials and comfort.

A small step up from the iPad Air 2
on May 12, 2016
Posted by: Leonardo
from Westminster, CO
Verified Purchase:Yes
I have owned many tablets from Asus Transformers to the iPad 2 to the Pixel C. This iPad Pro is the best tablet I've had yet, and I'm very glad to have made the purchase.
INTRODUCTION:
I want to preface this review by mentioning that compared to the iPad Air 2 (which I've had the pleasure of using), this device isn't a huge step up. If the additional hardware features (speakers, improved display) aren't important to you, then the iPad Air 2 is still an excellent tablet at a much lower price.
BUILD QUALITY (5/5):
Once again, Apple does a great job with their Aluminum housing. It feels very durable, while also being very light. Not too heavy to hold in one hand, and it's very thin. I came from a Pixel C and iPad Air 1, and the iPad Pro was definitely the thinnest and had the most comfortable feel. Any thinner than this and it will be a bad thing.
SOUND QUALITY (5/5):
This definitely has the best sound of any tablet on the market. Apple has always taken sound quality seriously, and it really shows with this model. The onboard headphone jack has great sound from the DAC and amp. It can drive some pretty demanding headphones with excellent clarity.
But what you're really wondering about is the four speakers surrounding the edges. This is one of the major reasons I bought this tablet, among all other things. The sound is excellent. While other products tout stereo speakers, they don't do portrait stereo very well, and there's often a lack of bass. The iPad Pro, however, touts excellent volume in such a small device, and can also display a wide range of frequencies. Playing music with bass emphasis really shows how excellent the sound is compared to other tablets. As an audiophile, the iPad Pro definitely scratches my itch.
DISPLAY (4/5):
The display isn't incredible. Is it great? Sure. But it's not leagues ahead of the game. It's the same resolution as the 2012 iPad 3, for starters. 4 years later, they've made it the brightest screen on any tablet, enhanced the viewing angles, brought the display closer to the glass, and made a true tone display to mimmick the light of the room. With the true-tone disabled, it's more of an accurate display, rather than a vivid, saturated display. Which can be good or bad, depending on what you're looking for. Either way, IPS is good, but rather boring, at this point.
APPLE PENCIL (?/5):
I have not purchased the Apple Pencil, so I can't really comment on this much, but I have an artist friend who bought the iPad Pro 12.9 and has done some amazing things with it. For artists and creators, the Apple Pencil is a godsend for drawing on a tablet.
PERFORMANCE (5/5):
This is definitely the snappiest tablet I've had, yet. Multitasking works great, although portrait-mode Split View could be improved. WiFi connectivity is the best on any tablet. The device rarely ever crashes. Overall, far fewer issues when compared to other tablets I've had.
TOUCH ID (4/5):
This is one area where I think this tablet falls short of my expectations. I have used other fingerprint scanning devices (including an iPhone 5s), and the Touch ID is just a bit flaky at times on this iPad Pro. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but nothing to write home about. My Nexus seems to register more often than my iPad Pro. Not by a lot, but it can sometimes be an annoyance. Don't let that detract you from this device, though. It's just my experience, and your experience may prove to be significantly better than mine.
BATTERY (5/5):
This is one of the biggest reasons why I have to come back to Apple compared to other tablets. The idle battery life on iPads is insanely good, and has been for years. I primarily use my iPad for browsing the web and a lot of video consumption. I will easily get 9-13 hours of use out of it, depending on my settings. I keep background refresh off to maximize my battery life.
APP ECOSYSTEM (5/5):
I don't think I need to say much here. Apple has a huge market share of the mobile app ecosystem, and developers often prioritize their Apple versions of apps because owners of iOS devices are usually more willing to pay for Apps. The apps you get on iOS are often higher quality compared to Android, and it's truly unfortunate, as somebody who also enjoys the Android ecosystem on his smartphone.
OVERALL:
I would buy this product again if it broke. For my needs, it provides the best overall experience, and I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Excellent Home Automation
on May 6, 2015
Posted by: Leonardo
from Westminster, CO
Verified Purchase:Yes
I've been wanting to get involved in home automation for some time now. I love the fact that I can connect my nest to the internet and control my thermostat, change the schedule, and configure other settings from my phone, no matter where I am. If it's the middle of the night and you're too cold or too hot, then grab your phone off the nightstand and quickly change the setting by opening the app or using Google Now voice commands (requires you to set up "Works with Nest" first).
I recently went on a trip to Japan, and my Nest recognized that I was not home since I was not connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Nest. It set itself to Away and did not run the daily schedule while I was gone --exactly what I was hoping for.
It learns by your habits, as well. If you change a the temperature at the same time pretty often, it will start to adjust your schedule accordingly.
It really is a learning thermostat. It has saved me headaches and time.

Serves its purpose; has a high 2.1A output
on January 2, 2015
Posted by: Leonardo

Verified Purchase:Yes
This thing is fantastic. It's very compact and is comfortable to keep even in a pocket. Of course, it's not fun to keep a cable in your pocket, but there are tiny cables that you can find out there to put on your keychain and so forth. The great thing is that this can output at a maximum of 2.1A which means most tablets and smartphones will be able to charge at full speed like a wall charger, instead of just a laptop USB port. The LED indicator is also useful so you always know when to charge.
The 16GB Micro SD card is also a great addition. Of course it's not groundbreaking, but for $24.99 I couldn't complain too much about the speed. It's great for storing pictures and documents and music and video. Playing 4K videos back would likely not be an easy task from this Micro SD card because of the higher bitrates, but it could be used as backup storage for those times when your phone is running out of space.
Overall, a good product by PNY and easy to use.

Great for music
on October 4, 2013
Posted by: Leonardo
from Westminster, CO
Verified Purchase:Yes
I use my Tone+ primarily for music. I washed a couple of my favorite pairs of in-ear headphones and finally got sick of leaving pairs in my pocket. The nice thing about this is that it doesn't go in my pocket. It goes around my neck, and isn't bothersome. It's not something you would want to run with, as it's not intended for that purpose. It's intended for those who want to listen to music or want to answer calls hands-free.
It's very comfortable. You barely notice it's there, since it's so light. The controls are very intuitive and make sense. Answering calls, changing volume, or changing a song is very simple thanks to the controls on the device. The cables to the earbuds sometimes get caught on things (like when you're taking off a jacket) if you're not careful, but usually it's not a problem, and it's not really that irritating.
Sound quality. It's pretty great. Unfortunately, I don't have a device that supports APT-X, but my Nexus 4 still gets solid sound quality. However, the first thing I noticed was that there was a bit too much treble. There's an onboard equalizer that fixed this, though, so now I have the extra bass to bring the sound quality to a flatter balance. Talking quality is also very clear, so I was very satisfied with that. People on the other end also said they could hear me very well. My brother also has the Tone+ and the sound quality from the onboard microphone is also great.
The device does last a long time. I haven't counted, but with normal use (maybe a couple hours each day), it can last me throughout the weekdays before I need a charge again. It's estimated 10 hours of music time and 15 days standby time. I just turn it off when I'm away from it (so that my phone doesn't route calls to the device). Either way, fantastic device. I made sure to buy a warranty to protect it, since I break headphones pretty often.
Really enjoying this product, would definitely recommend it for the price.

This Insignia™ NS-BK1TSS6 kegerator/beverage cooler holds either a 1/2 keg or a 1/4 slim keg and features an adjustable thermostat, so you can easily keep your favorite drinks cold. Two wire shelves help you maintain organization.

Is it true Miller Lite kegs do not fit into this Kegerator?

All that matters is what size the keg is. Shouldn't matter if it is Coors, Pabst, Miller, etc. This kegerator fits up to a 1/2 barrel keg (15.5gal).

If you get a 1/2 barrel keg and fill it with Miller Lite, it will fit into the Kegerator, but the Kegerator will disapprove of your beer choice, as will anybody with any self-respect.

What do I need?

Hi- I just want to get a wireless router for my home that will allow me to connect with a Droid, iPhone, and laptop for internet and email downloads. I also need LAN cord output to connect directly to my DVD player for Netflix. I use Comcast. I have NO idea what specs or type of modem I need. Can someone help?
You should be able to find the list of compatible Comcast modems on their website. For the most part, an entry level modem such as the ARRIS SURFboard SB6121 should do the trick. This modem supports up to 174Mbps download, which is more than what most people have anyways. You can usually find these cheap-ish when on sale, since it's very popular.

How do you charge the powerpack? Do you plug it into your computer?

Yes, you can plug it into a computer's USB or into a much faster USB wall adapter. Computer USB's output at a max of 0.9A which means it could take a while to fully charge it. Your standard wall USB adapter for your mobile devices will likely work much better. Anything with a 1.0A to 2.1A range should charge this battery pack relatively quickly.
