Hi All! I'm completely stoked about the new Asus ROG GU501 gaming laptop! My overall impression is it is a fast capable machine that will handle nearly any game you play - there are a few notes on that I'll discuss later. See my attached pictures of performance stats and the ROG gaming center screen - the latter allowing you to create profiles and override certain features to make your gaming experience better!
When playing either Fortnite or Witcher 3, this rig handled the games smoothly and easily. Project Cars however, when playing with 10+ other cars on the track struggled a bit and made it difficult to steer. I think games with this much realism require more memory and high end graphics cards to always operate smoothly.
The 6 core, 3.9Ghz system with 16GB RAM is on par with Asus high end gaming laptops. They usually feature a higher end screen with G-Sync and or more SSD drive space (GM501GS or GM501GM) but have most other components exactly the same.
The body of the laptop is sleek, black metal that may show scratches if you wear a metal watch or rings. The ASUS Aura SYNC backlit chiclet keyboard has all individually light rainbow LEDs that is fully programmable but the keys are a bit small for my preference for you full time. Most people will opt for a full size keyboard for a more natural feel.
One of the first things I noticed was the large speaker on this laptop. It's a full 2" right near the screen - one thing that makes this such a big unit. Sounds great! Dual array microphones it a super feature as well!
Overall again, this is a solid entry level gaming laptop for those wanna be gamers. It can be used as a full desktop replacement machine as well - and I'll likely use it as both. Aside from the occasional fan noise as references by others and a non-4k, non-touchscreen screen, this is an awesome unit and worthy of your consideration!

Wow - Great picture!

I'll admit I was a bit skeptical - I've paid for cable TV for the last 30 years! It took me all of 5 minutes to hook the MoHu blade up to my TV and set in on my window sill for initial testing purposes.
After power on the TV, switching inputs from HDMI to TV, going into the TV menu to select AIR vs CABLE for signal and then letting the TV auto-program itself - I was watching 50 channels FREE with very good sound and picture quality! I did notice a few of the channels produced a "digitized" picture with broken sound - that could be the initial placement of my antenna and signal. I noticed about 40% of the channels do not take up the full width of the TV screen, but the main local channels come in very clear!
Overall - very impressed and will play around a bit with antenna position. I'm paying over $200/month for cable + internet and bet I could reduce that to $40-60 per month for just internet! This device deserves some serious consideration!

Excellent for Exercising!

I'm a sweater - meaning I sweat a lot working out. I've had many issues with finding earbuds that will stay in my ears for the duration of my activity due to my heavy perspiration. However, these EPIC Sports worked awesome, stayed snugly in place and have become my go-to earbuds when working out!
I attribute most of the fit success to the adjustable memory wire that you can mold to your ear to assist holding those earbuds in place. They also come with 5 ear tips and 3 cush fins to really get the right fit for your ear. Did I mention that are IP66 splashproof? Yup - that will handle my heavy sweating - just don't take them in the pool with you.
Sound quality is very good with the 8mm drivers in each earbud. There are 3 different EQ modes to choose from as well, so you are bound to like at least one of them. I haven't verified the 12 hour play time yet - likely I won't ever run them out as I recharge them weekly.
Added bonus - a travel case to protect them in your backpack! Definitely a solid performer that I will use often!

I really like the new Sony lineup of portable, bass-focused, water/dust resistant Bluetooth speakers. The XB41 is the Grand-daddy of them all, boasting the longest play time, most lighting effects and most extreme party modes!
Right away, I paired it up and launched into some music from my iphone. The kids came running. I explained this one is mine. I dazzled them with the Fiesta app to produce different lighting effects and some DJ effects. I used the Sony Music Center to further enhance the experience and sent the kids away whining that they don't get it. Ha. Score one for dad!
The waterproof design makes it safer to be used near the pool, on the boat, in the bathroom during a steamy shower, etc. The fact that I can connect up to 100 more in a chain means the boat barge parties can really get going! Using it as a power source for my iphone is a wonderful feature as well. Nice job Sony!
The light effects are cool - especially if you turn down your normal lights and just let the speaker and maybe some beer signs guide you. If you don't like them, yes - you can turn them off with the app.
Overall - just love it. Go big - get the XB41. Here's picture comparing the sized to my desktop mouse.

I do quite a bit of presenting with my job - and have access to a variety of projectors and displays to use. It is fitting to compare this with the others. Right off the top, I must admit I love the fact that it comes with a bag and it easy to carry! It ranks higher than many of the older projectors I use, and it's smaller size would make my choice to drag around with me when I go mobile!
For the price (as it's the lower end of the pricing spectrum for projectors), this unit throws a nice bright image. Image quality and coloring are very good - just have a nice bright white wall or screen to use it with. It's not BluRay quality, but perfect for presentations or graphics (I like to test with detailed Visio Network diagrams).
There are lots of input as pictured - the full size HDMI is a welcome option. It does have a speaker, but it's a projector speaker. If you have a booming presentation with embedded audio, hook that up to the room speaker system to get a more "full" effect.
Overall - very happy with the project. Whether it's displaying your child's Graduation pictures in your garage, projecting to your church up to 350 feet away, or showing a presentation, demo, etc to your business - this unit is portable, fairly quiet and super easy to setup.

OK - I've been using the convention, manual toothbrush all my life. The kids have electric ones, so this one is all mine. First off, it came with a charge, so you can use it right away. It's a small head - so you can't use alot of toothpaste - I must have been wasting the 1 inch long strip I've been using all my life.
That said - there are three cleaning modes, Clean, Whiten, Gum Care. The pressure sensitive brush head pulses if you push too hard on your teeth, and the head briefly pauses every 30 seconds to indicate it's time to move to a new mouth quadrant Again, I usually spend about 30 sec TOTAL with a manual brush - so this one makes it easier to tell when you should be done.
However, this this really moves! If you aren't used to an electric brush - be ready. It vibrates so fast that you could have toothpaste all over your mirror if you aren't careful (speaking from experience here). It vibrates at such a high frequency that it tickles your mouth and the sound echos throughout my head! Just saying.
Overall - my teeth feel super clean when I'm done and I would recommend this to anyone ready to switch from Manual brushing to Electric!

With 3 teenagers in the house - there is never a quiet moment - there music or singing always coming from somewhere. So, I knew we were in for an all out brawl over this speaker when it arrived and I quick paired it to my phone and could hear the bass thumping away! Great sound quality and lots of fun to use!

I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of my SimpliSafe Protect system - and it arrived a few days ago! Setup was a breeze! Unbelievable actually - even Grandma was impressed as she watched! Pull the battery protection tabs and the base station and all sensors sprang to life and registered - no problems at all!
I quickly ran the 4 entry sensors to the 4 exterior doors in my house and placed them with easy (self stick pads were already on each sensor). I then placed the motion sensor in the main living area. Next, I labeled device within the master controller - again very easy to do. Super impressed thus far.
The next steps was service activation. I had not planned to activate the service and pay the $15-25 per month - although I admit this is pretty reasonable. This is where the system falls short in my view. Although the base station has two communication methods (cellular primary and WiFi secondary), you can only leverage either of them with a paid service plan. I would like to be able to use the WiFi connectivity and the SimpliSafe app on my iphone to receive text alerts and notifications of events at my house - but that is not possible without the $25/month service plan. To me - this is the biggest downfall of the product. Fix this - and now we're talking!!
There are tons of add-ons that make this product really shine. Freeze alarms, water sensors, some and CO detectors and I even hear doorbells are coming soon! Very capable, easy to setup with relatively few faults - albeit a fairly large one to me.
Again - if you are looking for an easy, quick, DIY solution, want remote access via your phone and don't mind paying the $25/month - this is for you! Personally, I gave it only 4 stars due to that limitation of requiring the service to be actually useful.

Decent, 8 hr headphones for Sports

I had a chance to review alot of headphones, and the Sony WI-SP500 falls in the middle of the pack for me. This entry level headphone lacks features of if big brothers (SP600 and SP700) in things like noise-cancelling, true wireless, etc.
I must have funny shaped ears - as most of the earpieces I review just don't fit me that great. That's why I've preferred over the head or over the in-ear ones. I will say though that these SP500's have a textured earpiece that do seem to help make them feel a bit more secure than the smooth earpieces seen on other brands.
Easy to pair, decent battery length & IPX4 waterproof (protected from splashing water). For your reference, IPX goes from 0-8, zero meaning no protection and 8 being able to be submerged into 3 feet of water.
Overall - if you are on a budget and looking for bluetooth headphones for your walks or runs, these will do fine. If you are a more picky, you'll want to shell out for the noise-cancelling SP600 or true wireless SP700s. I only gave a 3 rating as they don't have noise-cancelling (a feature I highly recommend), and still feel a bit loose in my odd-shaped ears.

Super Easy Setup - very fast!

Do you see dead people - I mean dead spots in your home? Dead WiFi spots - to be more specific. A dead spot is any spot your signal drops resulting in slower network/internet access.
I had a dead spot on my second floor - the bedroom farthest from the router. Not anymore. This router was super easy to setup - and I didn't even use the WPS button. I followed the directions and everything worked just as it should!
This device packs quite a punch. It can be used as a WiFi extender for those areas where you need to boost your signal, or as an access point where you want a second network.

The Spot Finder feature was pretty cool and accurate. I tested a couple different locations and the feature agreed with me on the best location to place it!
Overall - if you are looking for an Extender or Access point that works with your current WiFi - this is an easy device to implement that will provide solid results!

Yes - This device can broadcast a WiFi network from any type or service - DSL, Cable, Satellite from any carrier. Just plug an active internet connecting into the WAN port on the back and you're set!

Does this item work well in conjunction with Comcast WiFi?
I have a Comcast XB-3 Arris 3939B Wireless Gateway for Phone, internet, WiFi and Home Security which is overall a good device but leaves me wanting just a little more in terms of network area coverage and performance.
This product with the extension might serve me with optimal coverage. I'm looking for good signal strength to cover about 2,500 sq ft. indoors & outdoors.
The Comcast device offers 3 networks I find myself juggling between the three of them for upwards of 25 connected devices with unreliable or inconsistent coverage in certain areas.

Yes - this device can provide WiFi with whatever service you have. Give it an internet signal and it will create a new WiFi network in your home to your liking.

Does this work with Dial-up services?
Well - it depends - but generally no. I saw this because usually modems are not line-sharing devices but rather dedicated to an individual system. However, how are you connecting to dial-up? Do you have a modem built into your laptop or desktop? Is it an external modem? More information needed....

Will this router work with the HughesNet HT1000 component?
Yes - on the back of the HT1000 is a LAN port. Simply plug an ethernet cable into the LAN port on your HT1000 and the other end into the WAN port on the Nighthawk.

Verizon Fios
Will this unit work with Verizon Fios?
Yes - ,my understanding is that Verizon Fios is basically Fiber Optics to your home. Verizon provides you a Optical Network Terminator (ONT) that eusually a Coaxial cable output which connects to your cable router. The Cable router then has an Ethernet cable as an output (your internet signal) which would then be plugged into the WAN port onthe back of the Nighthawk router.

Works with "Whole-House DVR" service?
Time Warner Cable's whole-house DVR service allows a DVR in one room to access shows recorded on a DVR located in another room. I've read that the DVRs communicate with each other via MoCA, which sends signals via the AC power wiring in the home. Can the DST coexist on the same MoCA network as the whole-house DVRs?
Yes - it can co-exist. I use MoCA on my Mediacom Whole-Home DVR setup - and have used this router and DST adapter without issue.

I purchased the NETGEAR - Nighthawk DST AC1900 Wireless-AC Gigabit Router with DST Adapter and it works GREAT!! I just wanted to know if I could connect an additional DST Adapter to the Nighthawk AC1900/DST Adapter I already have?
Yes - you can use/connect more than 1 DST adapter to the router to eliminate ever more dead spots!
