This HDMI cable was what I needed at the length I needed it. I typically get my electronics and peripherals at Best Buy because of acceptable quality and immediate availability. I probably could have gone online to save a dollar or two, but for this trip I wanted the cable without waiting two days! If the gold plate is available and pricing isn’t stupid high, go for it (as in this cable). But for anything under 8 feet don’t pony up the extra for gold. Length is the main issue. Anything over 15 feet requires a Hercules strength signal (or Incredible Hulk if you’re more into Marvel than Greek Mythology). First I opt for the right price, then the right length, and last consideration is gold. Best Buy spends money keeping things in stock for their customers and does a good job of price-matching even against online retailers. This was what I needed, and I was willing to part with a couple of dollars to get it immediately and keep my local store in business. Otherwise, HDMI is HDMI!

Optical cable for sound has few things other than length and light refraction quality to differentiate high prices from low prices. I might have done better price-wise from somewhere else, but for under $30 this cable fit the bill AND it was conveniently in stock at the Best Buy store. That’s why I continue to get most electronics at Best Buy rather than online. Don’t get duped by either TOO expensive cabling (there just isn’t that much difference!) or cheap easily shattered fiber optic innards you might find online at a “bargain”.

Good, but often get what you pay for

The unit was on sale and feature wise compared very favorably with other similar and higher end products. Installed, the system worked pretty well. Controls seemed easy enough for those familiar with systems and the auto balancing process seemed OK. The unit is tall. Good for heat dispersal but be careful if you don’t have much vertical shelf space. No cabling other than cheap FM and AM antennae is included, so be sure you have your own speaker cabling and input line from your connected devices. Worst issue was sound volume. Set up to a Bose speaker system (passive subwoofer) and had to turn sound up to the 60’s (!!!) to be heard! Maybe it was the subwoofer pass through but was never able to resolve this. It was a bargain system that met most needs.

After MUCH research I decided on the Phillips Hue system as they consistently rated the best of all WIFI able LED bulbs. Best part was a great sale at Best Buy, besting even the lowest online prices. The Hub wasn’t hard to set up but also not quite as simple as all the “plug it and play it” accolades in many online magazine reviews. But it was a short learning curve and now it works well both with the app and my Amazon Echo system. I purchased an additional color LED bulb.
Pros: Completely dimmable, control from both smart phone/tablet and Amazon Echo, bulbs produce excellent light for my homes needs.
Cons: Bulbs can still be expensive, Hub takes many minutes to update firmware at installation, bulb naming not obvious at first, changing bulb locations must be well planned out.

This case for my iPad 3 mini is nicely protective, has a good reliable adjustable stand feature, and two elastic straps: One to keep the case closed and one to use as a hand-strap for holding the iPad securely with only one hand. What it doesn't have is a magnetic closure / sleep switch or means to stand in portrait mode. I'm concerned how long the thin elastic closure strap will last.
Pros: Great price, secure landscape oriented adjustable stand, good elastic "handle" strap, protective soft surface interior, lightweight, good leather or at least leather feel exterior covering.
Cons: No magnet closure for putting iPad in sleep mode, elastic closing strap seems thin and may not last as long as the iPad.

This full function 64g iPad is the perfect size for me. I held off getting an iPad for years until using a full size iPad Air from work for several months. But I missed the size of my old Blackberry Playbook. I finally bought the mini and haven't regretted it. I've literally used it every day both at home and traveling. iPads are well known now and the mini 3 64Gig lives up nicely to the positive reputation of the brand.

Nice case with SOME good features

We purchased this case for my wife's new iPad after comparing many cases. I also have 12 of these same cases at work for class iPads.
Great features are the sturdiness of the case and how well it protects the tablet. The built in magnet serves two convenient purposes - it puts the iPad to sleep automatically and keeps the case securely closed. Downsides are the hole for the multijack (headphone/microphone) is too tight and must either be enlarged or must use a skinny adapter. The tri-fold stand is not stable or reliable to keep the iPad upright, and is only suited for landscape. The addition of an elastic strap inside would be nice to hold the iPad in one hand.
Pros: Sturdy, strong, very protective, magnetic closure doubles as sleep switch.
Cons: Multijack opening too small for easy access, stand mode unreliable.

what's the reason for connecting the hub to AC power?

While power supplied through a USB port is generally sufficient for one device (such as a mouse, keyboard, joystick or gaming device, portable external hard drive, etc.), splitting that limited power among multiple devices causes them to work erratically or not at all. Most USB connected devices also require electricity to function, and unless they have their own dedicated power such as a battery, that low-volt / low-amp electricity is supplied through the USB "plug". A Multi-port unit powered ONLY through the USB connection to the computer is limited to the power of that one USB line. Think of watering a lawn with lots of hoses and sprinklers attached to only one faucet; the water pressure out of any one sprinkler is very low because all the sprinklers and hoses are sharing one source and that source only has so much to give. A good multi-port USB hub has external power to evenly distribute sufficient power to all the ports in the hub. This is true whether the hub has only one device plugged in, or many devices. Avoid multi-port units that have no external power. You'll save yourself time and money!

Charging through USB
When i connect my Dynex hub to a wall socket and the blue lights glows i cannot charge anything ! i purchased this product to charge multiple usb outlets at once only to find that it will not charge unless connected to a computer....please tell me this isnt true
The Dynex 7-Port USB unit is NOT a charging unit, it is a multi-port USB unit. It will NOT supply charging power to hardware such as phones, portable HD radios, MP3 players, bluetooth devices, etc. It must be plugged in to a laptop or desktop for any charging to take place. Charging units still involve logic and programming. The port is simply a port and nothing else. Splitting a computer's volts and amps with only a USB connection to a multi-port unit causes inconsistent power to devices. This is why the Dynex 7-Port Powered USB unit has external power. If an associate told you this would work as a charging station without connection to a computer, they were badly mistaken.

Can you connect a keyboard and mouse to a hub?
Will they work?
On a Powered Hub such as the Dynex 7-Port, there should be no issues in using a keyboard or mouse plugged into the hub. I successfully tried a mouse. There are TWO conditions that must be met, though. The first sounds incredibly simple, so please forgive me if this sounds patronizing. First, the USB hub MUST be plugged into the computer. Second, a powered hub MUST also be plugged in to power, as the computer volt / amp supply to the hub will likely be insufficient for heavy use hardware such as a mouse, keyboard, joystick, or other gaming device.
