This Ninja Smart Screen Kitchen System with FreshVac consists of a 1400 watt motor base with touchscreen display with 9 preset programs, a FreshVac Pump, 72 oz. FreshVac Pitcher, 20 oz. Single-Serve FreshVac Cup, 40 oz. Processor module, Stacked Blades which enable you to chop, puree, mix, and make dough, a slicing/shredding disc for the 40 oz. Processor module.
This setup has several different type of blades and basically takes the place of two separate devices a blender and food processor.
The first time I used this unit it was to create some fruit smoothies. Used frozen strawberries and bananas (they were fresh, but hold up better when blending if frozen). The blender base unit comes with several pre-programmed settings, I used the smoothie setting and it stopped and started the cycle automatically to maximize the blending process. in addition, the feet of the blender have suction cups on them so the unit does not do a walk across your counter or prep area, very ingenious. In any case the end result of the blending process, was a perfect smoothie ! There is a function to remove the air from the blending process which yields different results and appearance, I didn't realize that this could be used on the pitcher to lessen the amount of air mixed into the smoothie, I thought it was just to preserve leftovers. In any case next time I will try taking the air out during the blending process. The pitcher comes with a lid that clamps down and becomes super secure (this is one of the few blenders I felt comfortable not holding the top on during the blending process. The blender unit is fairly loud, but not more than most, it has a separate opening for pouring whatever you made into cups, very handy. Also provided is a 20 oz cup that also has a blade that can be used for smaller portion, personal size concoctions. The vacuum pump attaches to either container and removes all the excess air, it can be powered by 6AA batteries or an optional AC adapter. Overall, I am very happy with this setup and look forward to continued use.
Pros:
- Versatile
- Preprogrammed modes that work for your use case
- Suction cup feet
- Powerful
- Multiple blades

Cons:
- loud

Whip up a smoothies, dips or side dishes with this Ninja blender. The FreshVac pump reduces oxygen to preserve flavor and nutrients, and the 20-oz. cup or 72-oz. pitcher makes it easy to create single or multiple servings. This powerful Ninja blender has crushing blades that power through ice cubes effortlessly.

impressive suction, good performing

The Shark ION W1 Cordless Hand Vac is a sleek looking device that performs well for quick cleanups in the house and anywhere else you need dry material picked up.
The unit comes with two attachments in addition to the base nozzle which they fit into. The edge attachment has an ingenious flipover brush feature which allow the edge attachment to double as a suction brush.
Anyway, to get to performance, lots of suction accompanied by a high pitched motor, did wonders for my tinnitus (if you don’t have it, you will if you use this more than 10 minutes at a time). I did a quick cleanup on a few items on a low carpet, did not have a problem and was able to pickup everything I pointed it to. Used the attachments (or nozzle modifiers) which worked well for doing a quick cleanup of my car, the wide nozzle attachment did a good job cleaning my car mats, without having to take them out, used the edge tool to cleanup the edges of the mat along with some of the harder to reach places in my vehicle.
A little more about the design, although it is sleek looking, the dirt cup which is on the middle of the bottom of the unit is released by a button adjacent to the power button on the top of the unit’s handle. This design initially had me emptying the entire contents of the dirt cup onto my freshly vacuumed floor mat, not what I intended, once the cup seemed to release with a slight knock on the bottom of the unit. As you can imagine this was quite annoying and occurred at least twice before I had to be extra vigilant on how I gripped the unit and caution when powering on or off.
In any case the unit works well enough, probably the best performing cordless quick vac I have used. With a few tweaks this product would be a powerful and highly recommended unit.
Pros:
- Sucks coins up with out a problem, for a rechargeable – impressive
- Attachments and charging stand which holds them
- Decent battery life.
Cons:
- Loud, high pitch sound
- Dirt cup design and release button placement

handy electronic doorbell, with some limitations

The SimpliSafe Pro Smart Video Doorbell was smaller than expected, I have seen other video doorbell solutions and they often are larger. The SimpliSafe unit is more compact, basically about the size of the top half of a credit card at about an inch and a half thick, quite compact.
This unit replaces your existing wired door bell, you have to uninstall your current doorbell and replace with the SimpliSafe door bell. Hardware installation took about 10 minutes, downloading their app and setting up via the app took about another 20 minutes. After you complete the hardware installation, turn power to the circuit back on. After you download the mobile app and create an account, you utilize the mobile app to setup your door bell. The setup process was fairly easy, scanning for WiFi access and displaying available networks, all pretty standard. Once I entered my WiFi password the mobile app generated a QR code on my phone which you display in front of the camera to complete what essentially is paring your door bell with your account. The app interface is pretty standard, with the basic features including viewing live video and access to an activity log, also you can setup notifications on your mobile device for motion or door ring events.
The only real issue I had is you have no way of saving video generated by any events, no pictures or video of people that rang the bell or were picked up by the motion sensor. Those functions are only available with their paid subscription cloud service ($4.99 a month). I am not interested in another monthly fee to add to my long list of ongoing subscriptions, would be nice if an SD card or some type of FTP function were available to save or send what the door bell captures.
In any case the video quality is clear and the night vision function works well. However depending on the placement of your door bell in relation to your door (for example off frame, as pictured) standing real close to the door will leave the person out of full view of the camera.
In additional there is half duplex audio (meaning you have to press a button on your mobile device to talk out of the speaker built into the door bell, releasing to hear the person talk) this functions OK, but my wife said the audio often cuts out.
Overall this is a pretty decent solution, which provides basic functionality with enhanced services (cloud recording and indexing) offered as part of a monthly subscription.
Pros:
- Easy to install
- Camera and night vision video is very clear
- wide field of view with a slight fisheye effect
- compact
Cons:
- specs say state this only is 2.4ghz Wifi compatible (although I swear this is attaching to my 5ghz mesh network)
- only logs events, recording is only available with a SimpliSafe cloud subscription
- no variable horizontal camera angle adjustment, vertical adjustment mount provided
- QR code read during setup was problematic, suspect the minor fish eye distortion of the lens trips this process up

excels with none but is competent in all functions

I really haven’t had a Brother brand printer since the dot matrix days (not talking the reboot character), but enough with dating myself. The Brother All in One MFC-J985DW printer is a compact, capable multifunction device. First thing I noticed when unboxing the unit, it is compact, it seems to have a footprint barely bigger than an 8x11 piece of paper. A refreshing change from the Multifunction printers I have been purchasing for the last three generations which are big and have been getting progressively less reliable (from a brand known for making high end cameras).
In any case back to the Brother All in One MFC-J985DW, after unboxing I filled the tray cartridge with standard 8x11 paper. It was slightly confusing as the paper goes below another area where photo size paper can be loaded. Then I installed the four “INKvestment high yield ink cartridges,” which seemed small, we’ll see down the road what page counts they yield. Checked prices of new OEM ink online and prices seem reasonable.
As for setup, the printer was fairly easy to connect my WiFi network. A Windows 10 PC easily detected the printer connected to my network. My iOS devices were also able to connect via AirPrint (although as I write this the connection via AirPrint seems to have disappeared).
Printing was easy, providing decent looking output quickly. Documents are clear, a photo did not look as I expected when printed as a full 8x10, it was more artful looking than photographic. Could be the source resolution of the photo, regardless I do not print many photos at home and frankly would not expect much in this area from the printer.
Scanning was straightforward, from the front panel I was able to scan an image directly to my PC where it automatically showed up in the Windows Fax and Scan app. I also setup the scan to a cloud service, in this case my OneDrive, there are also options for DropBox, Google Drive and Evernote.
Also there is a simple Automatic Document feeder for scanning one sided pages (ADF capacity 20). I did not get a chance to use this feature.
Overall this All in One printer does just about everything you would want to do, all at an acceptable level. It excels in none but is competent in all.
Pros:
- Small footprint/size
- Fairly reasonably priced
- Cloud services connectivity
Cons:
- Print quality is decent, but not the best
- No Ethernet connectivity, Wifi only
- Ink cartridges seem small, not sure I will get near the page count expected
- Small buttons on the front panel are difficult to use with my big paws

couldn't use, find a suitable use case

From what I understand you should be able to record game play from your Gaming console. I had issues connecting this to my PS3, as a matter of fact I had HDCP issues with everything I attached to this unit, so I had really no way of confirming how this unit operates. I have worked with other video capture devices in the past, however that was with component video, HDMI is copy protected to the hilt and with that drastically limits the use case for this product. Finding tech support or a KB to resolve these issues was also a real difficult task,

sleek, good performer
on November 4, 2018

Let me start with the design and look of the DeLonghi Livenza Convection Toaster Oven or a mini oven as is probably more appropriate. The oven is not overly large, but it is designed well with an industrial clean look. This model was very appealing to me as it is very similarly designed to other DeLonghi kitchen products including my DeLonghi Livenza Electric Grill, which I use at least once a week. The controls are similar, both share a blue LCD panel and grippy metal dials.
The oven unit comes with multiple trays, the standard silver grate (which slides in and out but is not attached, so you need something to move the grate) a standard baking pan and a rounded pizza pan which fits into the rounded back wall of the oven.
My first use was for baking a frozen pizza, the oven provides you with several presets for everyday cooking task, I used the one for frozen pizza and it worked well, my preference is for a well done pizza, so next time I will add an additional three to its preset fifteen minutes. Otherwise the pizza was cooked well enough and evenly, with that being an important factor. Next I toasted a refrigerated bagel, which again was evenly toasted, similar results for toast. As a matter of fact, in did a good job, only slightly exceeded by a dedicated slice style toaster.
I really appreciated the convention aspect of the oven, helping to evenly cook or reheat your food. The light inside the oven is also a nice plus. One caution, do not place anything on the top of the oven, as it seems to heat up more than more toaster ovens I have had in the past. Frankly this oven performs and looks great, most personal size meals could be cooked with ease. However, size does limit what you can cook or bake, it might heat up leftovers or a portion of a meal but does not prepare family size meals.
I am finding that between my air fryer, Delonghi Electric grill and this small convention oven, I use traditional ovens and stoves less than in the past. For quick reheats of store bought prepared two person or less meals this oven does a wonderful job.
Pros:
- nice looking and functionally designed
- looks just like similar Delonghi Livenza product lines
- cooks evenly, convention function works well
- specialized cooking pans/trays
- handy preset modes, with built in clock
Cons:
- top gets quite hot, remember it is an oven
- adding time or adjusting temp requires restarting your cooking cycle
- changing your cook mode, also requires you restarting your cooking cycle

I have a Shark Flex duo which is a similar design, basically the Shark Rocket Zero-M Stick Vacuum is a what I would consider an updated version. This model has less "flex" which in this case my wife said is improved as the Zero-M seems more secure and controllable.
As for the cleaning, the suction is on par with other vacuums of this type, picked up lots of dust and dirt from medium depth carpet, easily transitioned between hardwood floors, linoleum, tile and very low pile carpet surfaces. Also due to the design of this unit you can pretty much clean under a king size bed without much of a struggle.
Very bright LED lights on both the powered brush portion AND on the base power head, which is handy when using the tools with the power head portion. Easy to switch between cleaning modes by disconnecting the stick portion and using attachments, almost using it as a hand vac, attachments also connect to the end of the stick portion to provide a lot of flexibility for different use cases, although the suction when using the edge tool with a brush not as strong as you would like, but does the trick for cleaning air conditioning vents in home and car.
Genius idea to be able to see through the bottom of the rotating brush as it helps with knowing when hair needs to be removed. I believe the brush is designed to maximize the amount of hair suctioned up, minimizing how much hair remains in the brush. The dirt collection cup is large and has good capacity, love the small metal collection area for things you might want to retrieve if you accidentally vacuumed them up.
The only real issue my wife had with this vacuum is the handle is a little too big to grip for long period of time, as with most vacuums, it is like holding the middle of a baseball bat. The quote was “Would be awesome if someone would design a vacuum with a small grip with women’s hands in mind!”
Overall this is another great product from Shark, there continues to be notable effort made to design efficient, powerful units which evolve over time with incremental design improvements.
Pros:
- Powerful and maneuverable
- Multiple configurations and attachments for cleaning flexibility
- Long power cord
- Easily cleanable, with washable filters
Cons:
- A bit loud
- Handle grip is a bit thick

solid new version with updated interface

Bitdefender Total Security 2019 is a new version of the core Bitdefender protection suite. Having used the previous version, the first thing you notice is the substantially redesigned interface. The main page is now a configurable dashboard, where you can add some of the main features to the front page including Quick and Full scans and other functions to the dashboard. The core product features and scanning engine basically remain the same, you do not really see much of a performance hit during real time scans. Full scans depending on the number of files are also relatively quick. There are basic Ransomware rollback abilities which will recognize Ransomware infections and secure important files. . There is also a free VPN, which only comes with a 200mb daily limit, so it is pretty much useless, upgrades to the service are available. There is a vulnerability assessment tool which will inform you when vulnerabilities and associated patches exist for products installed on your system. The usual “total” suite tools are also included here such as System and Startup Optimizer, secure file shredder, protection against network threats along with a anti theft feature.

This camera is designed for all weather extremes—so you're still protected in rain and snow. (Compatible with the SimpliSafe Gen 3 security system. Requires Wi-Fi (2.4GHz) and existing wired doorbell setup with mechanical chime and a transformer with 8-24 VAC, 30VA max. Not compatible with digital chimes.)

Handle storage demands with this Western Digital SATA solid-state drive. Its 560MB/s read speed and 530MB/s write speed are suitable for intensive applications, and its 2.5-inch form factor fits most desktops and laptops. The solid-state drive has no moving parts, making the drive resistant to shock to protect your data. Includes the WD SSD Dashboard to keep track of the drive's status.
