WOW - TV/Movies Will Never Be The Same
on June 21, 2017

First, let me begin by saying that I have always been skeptical of projectors. Sure they produce the largest viewing size, but this is typically at the cost of image quality. Additionally, they've always been a little clunky that required a lot of extra equipment and just seemed like dying technology. The Epson Home Cinema 4000 has COMPLETELY proven me wrong.
Let's start with setup and required additional equipment. As with most projectors, you will need an external sound source. I recommend something with some power to match the awesome experience provided by the Epson 4000. That's it! A dedicated projection screen is not needed! I was impatient and just wanted to see what it looked like so I used a clear white wall as my screen and the picture looked fantastic. I'm sure there are some benefits to having a screen, but for those of you who may not have a dedicated home cinema room or just trying to save some $$, you can rest assured a clean white wall will work just fine. The great thing is, the only thing limiting your projection size is the size of your wall/room. Once you have everything in place, setting up the projector was far easier than I've ever experienced with other projectors. It really is as easy as plug and play. 1) Plug in the power 2) Plug in the video source 3) Connect audio to video source 4) Press power button. The on-screen menu controls are very easy to understand and I was able to adjust the projection angle within seconds and begin watching one of my favorite movies in well under 5 minutes. There's no need to adjust the legs since the Epson 4000 has a vertical lens angle adjuster of +/- 30 degrees controllable from the remote. I didn't mount the projector, instead I used a coffee table which was fine since I wanted to use it right away. For long term/permanent use, I'd obviously recommend mounting from the ceiling or having a dedicated platform toward the back of the room.
Once you get your movie/video started is when you really begin to see the Epson 4000 shine. The colors are bright and true. Even with a lot of ambient light, the projection was clear and very enjoyable. Adjustments to all of the typical picture settings are easily done via the remote control. I started off watching a Blu-Ray in HD. The Epson 4000 upconverts to near 4K and you can instantly tell a difference. Fast action scenes aren't a problem and every detail is crystal clear. However, native 4K video is where you're really going to notice the difference. While 4K looks great and you can tell a small/moderate difference between 4K/1080p on a 55" LED, it makes a BIG difference when viewing a 100" (projection can be as large as 300"! ) projection from the Epson 4000. The projection is so large, lifelike, and crystal clear, you're engrossed in the scenes. Again, this is where an excellent sound system will only further enhance an already great experience. I use a premium soundbar with 8" sub that I purchased from Best Buy's Magnolia Home Theater department. I love my soundbar and sub, but a full home theater sound system would give you the best experience.

The Epson 4000 has a 3D lens, but I'm not a huge 3D fan. That being said, it's very easy to flip a switch and it will convert regular images to 3D.
In conclusion, this is a fantastic home theater projector. There are certainly cheaper options, but you definitely get what you pay for. If you want to watch super clear realistic pictures that make you forget your watching on a projector, you need to buy the Epson 4000. It will blow you away and you'll wonder what you're going to do with that brand new 55" TV you just got.
Pros:
-Picture quality (color, brightness, motion clarity)
-Picture quality again... It's just phenomenal
-Setup
-Heat Dissipation (for such a large projector, the heat dissipation was pretty efficient and I never felt like the stand was getting too hot)
Cons:
-Price (obviously, this will be out of range for some)
-Size (it's huge so have a place to put it)

Excellent Router
on June 5, 2017
Posted by: abl001

The Linksys EA9300 Router is pretty much all that any household will need. Straight out of the box, the design of the router seems very high quality and just keeps getting better with each new router Linksys releases. The packaging is also quite impressive so kudos to Linksys for not skimping. The EA9300 has 6 wifi antennas and an average to larger than average base. This could be an issue for some people as the router is certainly not discreet, but not too large to make it impossible to hide.
Having used other recent Linksys routers in the past year, the EA9300 has extraordinarily easy setup. You can be up and running within just a few minutes with very simple and easy to follow instructions.
Once you're connected, I recommend downloading the Linksys app so you can make use of a lot of the worthwhile features (guest access, prioritization of devices, network map, parental controls, etc.) of the router. The app lets you manage your network while on the go. Parents should really enjoy being able to turn off the switch for their kids accounts during certain hours.
The EA9300 provides exceptional coverage for my apartment. Linksys rates the unit for a "Large Household" and judging by my unscientific testing walking in and around my building, that rating is more that appropriate. The EA9300 has a more powerful processor (quad core vs. dual core) than it's predecessor the EA9500 which only had a dual core so for power users with customized networks, this may be of some use. It also comes with four wired Ethernet ports and two USB 3.0 ports for flash drives and file sharing over your network.
As far as speeds, this router is more than sufficient to support 90-95% of household needs. I had HD Netflix streaming on four devices, with two other devices streaming UHD video with lag or degradation of video quality. It's also worth noting that your experience with this may be entirely dependent on your Internet Service Provider and the package that you have. A router can only make available as much data/throughput as your ISP is allowing. Again, this router is more than enough for most of us.
In conclusion, this is a great router if you're in the market for a new one. It should provide all that you need for years to come. If you already have an AC router and aren't having issues, I wouldn't run out and use this as an opportunity to buy a new router.
Pros:
-Tri band (2.5GHz, 5GHz(x2)
-Setup
-Linksys App for admin use
-Quality
-Number of Ethernet/US Ports
Cons:
-Bulky design
-Not exactly budget friendly

Good Shaver
on May 31, 2017
Posted by: abl001
from Maryland
The Panasonic Electric Shaver is a good shaver at a very reasonable price point. While it doesn't have a lot of features, it does exactly what a shaver should do, no more, no less. Some more expensive models include moisturizer/lubrication, automatic cleaners, etc. This model has none of those things, but I find that it delivers a shave that is as expected.
The build of the shaver feels very quality and that it can handle the wear that comes with traveling and everyday use/abuse. It feels very good in the hand and has a nice rubberized/silicone coating over a lot of the surface which is pleasant to the touch.
The shaver is only rated at 21 minutes after a full charge. While that's plenty for a 3-4 day weekend, you might start running out of juice on a longer trip assuming an average shave time of 4-5 minutes. That's also where I feel this shaver comes up short. The charging stand plugs directly into the outlet. You must sit the shaver directly onto the charging stand (there is no cord for charging or travel) so that was a little awkward at first. After a month of use, I actually like that there are no cords for home use, but I'd prefer a cord for travel. Keep this in mind as you'll need an outlet in a location where the shaver can be placed on/above it without obstruction. As mentioned earlier, this can be inconvenient for travel given the relatively short 21 minutes on a full charge.
The shaver has a very comfortable flexing arced shaver blades and head. It follows the contours of my face well. Since this shaver is a wet/dry shaver, you can use in the shower or with your usual shaving cream. I think this shaver performs much better with cream as opposed to dry--especially if you've waited a few days since your last shave.
In conclusion, this shaver gets the job done. I'm not quite sold on the arced shaving blades. I feel like it may take more passes since the arc prevents the blade from coming in full contact with my skin. That being said, it does provide a nice shave--especially when I do a wet shave.
Pros:
-Price
-Grip/Comfort
-Simplicity of Design
-Charging stand (this is dependent on each person and if their counter/bathroom can accommodate this)
Cons:
-Charge time
-ARC blade (maybe?)
-No cord (again, this could be a positive depending on the use)

Quality Portable Outdoor Audio Problem Solved!
on May 15, 2017
Posted by: abl001
from Maryland
The LifeProof Aquaphonics AQ-10 Bluetooth speaker is a game changer for your outdoor portable outdoor audio needs. As someone who can’t wait for spring/summer to arrive because of all the great things you can do outside, I was thrilled to know that there is finally a speaker than can go virtually anywhere without great risk of being destroyed by dirt, sand, water, or an occasional drop. LifeProof, owned by the company that brought you the OtterBox for your phone, has designed a great solution to those of us who love to take our sound with us wherever we go.
First, let’s address the sound since this is a speaker. While this speaker falls short of the clarity and defining sound of a similarly priced Bose or Beats portable Bluetooth speaker, it doesn’t fall that far short. If you’re looking extremely deep bass, look elsewhere. However, the speaker does put out enough sound that it will fill an entire room(s)/and a respectable outdoor space like a patio area, pool, beach setup, or on your boat.
The AQ-10’s build is very high quality and I love the material that covers the outside. It feels durable and isn’t too slippery when wet. The speaker will float when in water, continue to provide clear sound when in the rain (or shower), and if it gets dirty/sandy while you’re at the beach, just spray it off or dunk it in water to clean it off. I love the beach, I’ve always had to take great care when I brought my Bose Mini II because it is not outdoor friendly. For this reason, it gets wrapped in a ziplock bag which inevitably reduces the sound quality. The AQ-10 has no need for that AND even provides protection for smaller items (keys, cash, credit card, smaller cell phone ((iphone 5 for example)), etc) in the dry box built into the speaker. It’s not big enough for most of our super sized phones these days, but it’s nice to have a central spot to keep your miscellaneous items. The buttons on the AQ-10 are large, simple, and lighted for those days that last into the night. I appreciate this as some speakers are not as easy to operate. Speaking of lasting into the night, the AQ-10’s battery is rated to last 13 hours. Surprisingly, the AQ-10 achieved this! This means you can go to the beach at noon and still have music after midnight! I must say, this is a very big plus since no one wants their party to go silent in the middle of the fun.
As if these features weren’t enough, the LifeProof Aquaphonics AQ-10 provides a USB charger for your other electronic devices, an outside lighted charge indicator for the speaker, can be used as a handsfree speaker when connected to your phone, and a switch that locks all of the buttons for those times when your speaker may playing from a backpack or being handled a lot!
In summary, the AQ-10 packs a LOT of a features into a stylish, durable, and quality package at a pretty impressive price. If you’re looking primarily for high end sound that won’t leave the protection of your house/office, go with another speaker. However, if you want an all-around versatile option that can go from the office, to the shower, to the beach, go with the AQ-10. You won’t be disappointed.
Pros:
-Features, Features, Features
-Durability (waterproof, dust/dirt/sand proof, drop resistant)
-Battery Life
-Build Quality
-Price for all of the features you get
-Ease of operation
Cons:
-Sound quality is GOOD, but not great.

Good Idea / Poor Execution
on April 22, 2017
Posted by: abl001
from Maryland
I really had high hopes for the Polk Boom Bit as I am one of those people who would rather not have music pumped directly into my ears. Not only do I hate not being able to hear what is going on around me, it can sometimes be uncomfortable. The idea of having a small portable speaker that pairs with my phone and goes where I go got me excited. Unfortunately, the Boom Bit didn't quite meet my expectations.
The sound quality is pretty good for its size. Definitely better than your phones speakerphone. I found the range to be pretty impressive and didn't encounter any distortion at high volumes or songs with heavy bass. The volume doesn't go quite as loud as I would like. Still it's about 50% more than my iPhone 6s Plus. Plenty loud to hear in a room/office and even in a room away.
The build quality is high and the clip is very firm so I wouldn't worry about it falling off. It's also very light so even on a lightweight tank top, it doesn't tug much on the shoulder strap. I'm not crazy about the sport blue color as I prefer a darker blue but that's minor. The controls are minimalist with only a - and + buttons. An included tiny quick start guide has all of the different combinations but basic use is pretty straight forward.
The real disappointment of the Boom Bit comes with the battery. Very convenient charging in the form of a built in USB connector so just plug right into the outlet adapter or your computer for a quick recharge. That's where the positives end with the battery. Polk rates the battery at 3 hours use (which I find to be kind of short). Even more disappointing is that this rating is done at mid to low volumes. Most of us will be using it at max volume because half volume is really useless unless you're right on the speaker with no noise from the outside world. Even inside in complete silence, half volume is just barely at an enjoyable level sitting right next to the speaker. At max level , you can only expect approximately 45 minutes of use. I guess that's okay if you're going for a short run/walk. But for the many other uses (beach, outside projects, hotel room listening, etc.) 45 minutes doesn't get you very far. So that is a huge limit in the usability of the Boom Bit. I would've sacrificed some weight for added battery performance at max level.
In conclusion, this product fell short. It still has its uses and it will excel at those things that are under 45 minutes and don't require a louder speaker. Unfortunately, most of the uses I can think of require more speaker volume and/or significantly more battery life. Still, at $30 it's not a bad purchase if it fits some of your needs.
Pros:
-Design
-Build quality
-Simplicity of control
-Sound quality (for its size/price)
-Price
Cons:
-Max volume
-Battery life

Extraordinary Device
on April 9, 2017
Posted by: abl001
from Maryland
The Dell XPS 2-in-1 13.3 is an incredibly versatile machine that can serve as your primary work device or as a casual use laptop/tablet. Starting at 2.7lbs, this Dell is lightweight and easy to carry from meeting to meeting or from the couch to the bed. Despite its weight, it feels extremely well built and able to stand up to the rigors of daily use. The aluminum shell protects from the outside while the carbon fiber rest for your wrists feels luxuriously gentle.
One of the first things I noticed about the XPS 2-in-1 13.3 is the amazingly clear and bright nearly UHD display. It is absolutely stunning and the InfinityEdge display provides maximum viewing area. With a 170 degree viewing angle, it's easy to enjoy the brilliant anti-glare display from a wide field.
If you're going to get a machine like this, you want it to be able to push through and handle heavy loads of processing. The XPS 2-in-1 can do it with its Core i7 processor and 16 GB LPDDR3 1866MHz of system memory. In addition, this laptop boasts a 256 GB solid state hard drive. This is the first time I'm experiencing a solid state drive on a laptop and I'm in love! The processor and drive allow this unit to be free of moving parts (no fans and vents). This means that the laptop operates in complete silence no matter how hard you are pushing the processor. It also means that it stays much cooler than your typical laptop. I opened many programs and ran some graphic intensive programs and the XPS 2-in-1 didn't miss a beat. I didn't notice any lag at all. When doing a cold boot, the 2-in-1 is ready in mere seconds! Finally, all of this power doesn't mean shorter battery life. Dell says that with average use, you can expect 15 hours. I haven't been able to fully test this but have been able to get 8-10 hours constant use so I believe 15 hours would certainly be possible. I'm amazed and it's all possible due to the solid state drive.
Switching from laptop mode to tablet, tent, or stand mode is as easy as moving the display on the sturdy 360 hinged display. The only thing I found awkward about switching modes is that when used as a stand or tablet, the keyboard serves as the base (against whatever surface it is on) or the back of the tablet where you are holding it. In these modes, the keyboard is disabled. I found this to be more awkward when used as a tablet just because I'm not used to my hands/fingers touching a keyboard but I think I will get used to it.
The touch screen is extremely responsive and fun to use. Whether navigating the web or doing graphic editing, I found the touch screen to be extremely accurate. I don't have the optional stylus pen, but am considering purchasing it to get the full experience.
Connectivity-wise, the Dell XPS 2-in-1 utilizes newer technology to eliminate lots of ports. The 2-in-1 has two USB-C ports (USB-A to USB-C adapter included) which allows for flexible charging using either of the ports. Additionally, the unit has a microSD card slot and an audio headset jack. You can purchase an accessory adapter which will allow HDMI, VGA, ethernet, and additional USB 3.0 use.
In summary, I am really really impressed with the Dell XPS 2-in-1 13.3. It packs a LOT of power in a small product. Everything about it feels quality and durable. It's like the PC version of the MacBook Air--very stylish and extremely functional. The fingerprint reader makes it accessible and secure. I can't say enough about the solid state drive which has so many added benefits that I can't mention them all. The USB-C ports obviously require some accommodation since most of our devices are still using standard USB connections. However, I really like that I can charge from either USB-C port and that Dell included a USB-A/C adapter. I do wish they would've included the full HDMI/VGA/Ethernet/USB-A adapter ($80). I would highly recommend this to anyone in the market for a convertible laptop. The XPS 2-in-1 packs more punch than the Surface and has a better design, look, and feel in my opinion. I'm looking forward to leaving my work provided laptop on the dock and using the XPS 2-in-1 as my primary home and mobile use device.
Pros:
-Solid State Hard Drive (no fan/moving parts, operates completely silent)
-Beautiful and brilliant display
-Core i7 processor provides more than enough processing power
-Lightweight & slim design
-Build quality is extremely high.
-Battery life
-Touch screen responsiveness
-Stereo speakers produced surprising and impressive sound
Cons:
-No built-in USB-A or HDMI ports (this is what allows the slim design AND there are adapters which enable these functionalities)
-Awkward having keyboard serve as base/back when in tablet/stand mode

Versatile & Powerful Vacuum
on March 23, 2017
Posted by: abl001
from Maryland
The Dyson V8 Animal is perfect for those who don't want to lug around a heavy traditional vacuum or have limited space. I have an apartment so this is perfect for me as space is limited, but I still have carpet and tile/hard wood floors that need to be cleaned regularly. Don't let the small size fool you, this has the suction of a full-size powerful vacuum. Although it weighs under 6 lbs (that's lighter than my laptop!), it's able to do the job of much larger and much much heavier vacuums.
This model is cordless which only adds to its impressiveness given it's power! Another impressive factor is that I haven't noticed any loss in suction/power even as you approach the end of the charge. A full charge will last up to 40 minutes when using the non-motorized attachments. When using the motorized attachments, a full charge will get you around 20-25 minutes. Don't know about you, but that's more than enough time to clean many rooms.
I found the build, although lightweight, to be of a high quality. That's important if you're like me and can get a little rough with things while cleaning.
This product is extremely versatile. Use it on hardwood floors, tiles, carpet, reach up high and clean the cobwebs from the ceiling. Car a little dirty? The cordless design and compact size make it great for doing heavy duty cleaning or a quick touch up to clear out the gravel/dirt that you've tracked into your car.
In summary, this is a great vacuum. It's small size does mean that the dirt collection bin isn't very big so it will require more frequent emptying than a larger model. However, Dyson has made easier and cleaner to do. Simply press a button a release over a trashcan and all of the dirt falls away without making a mess. It comes with many useful attachments for carpets, hard surfaces, upholstery, crevice, and dusting. Perfect for almost any situation and especially for those of us who like to do a little light cleaning once or twice a week and even for those who like to put it off until there's a mess. It's charging cradle/stand is also handy since you can mount it on a wall in the closet or utility room along with it's accessories so it's out of the way and off the floor. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a compact yet extremely powerful vacuum.
Pros:
-Size
-Weight
-Power, power, power
-Versatility/function
-Charge time
-Cordless
-No loss of suction
Cons:
-Price - It's certainly not cheap, but you get what you pay for. This is far from a dustbuster on a stick.
-Lack of automatic level adjuster on the carpet accessory can make it harder to push on heavy pile carpet, but certainly nothing too demanding. A benefit of this is that it is getting very deep into the carpet and pulling out those stubborn pet hairs!

Pricey But Worth it For Pros
on March 9, 2017
Posted by: abl001
from Maryland
First, I'll address the price point which is admittedly steep at $129.99. How much could a clicker really be worth? Well, the Logitech Spotlight answers that question.
For those that frequently find themselves presenting and wishing there were more functionality (other than forward and back) built into your clicker, the wait is over. The Logitech Spotlight provides circular highlighting (via sensors in the Spotlight--not a projection or laser), zooming, media interaction, and cursor control from your fingertips--which can be up to 100 ft away from the laptop! An added benefit is that this functionality doesn't come in the form of a NASA worthy control panel. Instead, it comes in a very stylishly simple aluminum metal remote that fits comfortably in your hand. It feels professional and of such quality that it won't break apart if accidentally dropped or smashed around in a laptop bag. A large part of public speaking is confidence and this should boost anyone's confidence with it's added functions as well as style.
Installation is simple and easy. If you only want the basics (clicks forward/backward), it's as fast as plug and play. To take advantage of all the tricks the Spotlight can do, you'll need to install the free app from Logitech. I found this to be extremely easy and fast. The app was simple and intuitive allowing you to customize the function of the Spotlight's buttons. This is great so if you have no need to interact with media and instead care more about highlighting and magnifying, you can set the buttons to do exactly what you need. This makes interacting with your presentation a breeze and intuitive without having to think or search in a haystack of buttons while providing your full attention to the presentation itself.
Forgot to charge your Spotlight and are about to present? No problem. A 1 minute charge via USB will last for 3 hours. A full charge will last up to 3 months!
As you can tell, I can be a bit long winded. This isn't a great thing when you have limited time to present. The spotlight has an answer for that as well. A vibrating alert can be configured through the Spotlight's app to mark milestones (10 min, 30 min, etc) in your presentation. This can help keep people like me on track. In addition, you can use the app to have a timer included on the screen for more real-time monitoring.
In conclusion, I really enjoyed presenting with the Spotlight. The customizable functions come in REALLY handy as sometimes the needs of your presentation change. You may need more media interaction in one while only need zooming and highlighting in another. No matter what, you'll only have 3 buttons to contend with allowing you to maintain focus on dazzling your audience. Call me superficial, but the look and feel of the Spotlight made me feel more confident. It's stylish, quality, and clearly costs more than your average remote. It just says "Pro" to anyone who sees you wielding it. Your fellow presenters will be envious and immediately feel slightly inadequate with their plastic laser pointers on steroids.
Pros:
Look & Feel (Stylish)
Build Quality
Customizable Functions
Wireless (Bluetooth or included dongle)
Battery/Charge Life/Time
Included Carrying Case
Distance
Cons:

*Any pro presenter should have the Logitech Spotlight. If you don't present frequently (or do extremely important presentations where style, flare, and seamless interaction matter), the Spotlight is still something that could revolutionize your presentations. Whether it's worth the price for the amateur/occasional presenter is up to you. I still think it's a neat gadget that will have your audience/co-presenters inquiring about your Spotlight.

Seamless & Stylish Whole Home WiFi System

The Linksys Velop Whole Home WiFi provides seamless wifi coverage for up to 6,000 sq ft! Now, I don't have a home large enough to fully test that, but I can tell you that I was able to go pretty far out to the very back of my modest backyard and still had good wifi signal--something I couldn't do with my previous wifi and range extender setup. In addition, seamless really is accurate. There no need for you phone to switch between your primary wifi and range extenders or other networks. With Velop, your home will have ONE wifi with ONE name. I couldn't really tell any difference between being in the room with the node, or several rooms away. That's a great plus.
Speaking of setup, despite having 3 nodes, installation and setup was a breeze. Linksys has a great app (and printed directions) that walks you through the process step-by-step. It's all pretty intuitive and easy enough for a casual user to setup within 10-15 minutes.
Each of the nodes is said to cover up to 2,000 sq feet. These nodes are pretty stylish which is unusual when it comes to wifi systems. No ugly antennas or 18 blinking lights. Only a simple dim LED on the top. It looks like a modern technology accessory and I'm very impressed.
For those interested in more of the abilities, the MU-MIMO (Multiple-User, Multiple Input, Multiple Output) allows all of your gadgets to connect. Velop will automatically determine which frequency (it is a tri-band wifi) your device needs to be on to maximize usage. The app also has pretty great admin access right from your smartphone. You can block internet access and allow only local access, set up priority devices so your TV/streaming or gaming systems don't have any lag because someone else has decided to download 10 movies at one time.
Here's my summary:
Pros:
-Coverage area (even and fast--everywhere)
-Functionality
-Setup
-Style
-App allowing admin access
Cons:
-Price

There is nothing more frustrating than not being able to charge your phone or listen to music when you want/need to. For a device to be so simple, this device fails in such a magnificent way. After only a week, the connections are starting to get tricky. You have to position it in just the right way for the phone to recognize the connection. It's like one of those cheap $5 cables (2 for 1) and you end up having to use the second one within a week. You usually get what you pay for so I'm not surprised when I spend less than $10 on two cables. This product is $40 so it should NOT be doing this so soon. I miss my 3.5mm jack. Apple really missed on this and Belkin just failed big time. Do not waste your money.

Keep the music going at your next party or backyard barbecue with this Sony portable Bluetooth speaker, which features a six-hour battery life. The compact size fits neatly on a desk or table, while the splash-proof design makes this speaker perfect beach adventures. Use the on-speaker buttons to start your tunes or turn up the volume. This Sony portable Bluetooth speaker comes with EXTRA BASS sound to bring out the best in your playlists.

Can you skip songs using the volume buttons on the speaker?

Yes. By pressing the play/pause/call button twice quickly during playback, the XB01 will skip to the beginning of the next song. I found it necessary to wait a second or two until the next song began playing before skipping to the next song. If it registers your presses too close together (3 presses), it may think you want to go back to the beginning of the current song.

How are these for running on a treadmill, I have a problem keeping Apple earbuds and other wireless earphones in my right ear when I run. Will these stay in for someone with small ears?

I think this will vary by person and the individual shape of your ear, but I don't have issues on the treadmill.

Surround yourself with robust audio performance in a slim package with this LG ultra-slim soundbar. Compatible with the latest LG televisions, the compact soundbar pairs seamlessly to deliver an immersive audio-visual experience. The 4K high resolution audio on this LG ultra-slim soundbar lets you hear the action in every scene.

Two questions: 1) Since this sound bar does not have a center speaker, how is dialogue clarity? 2) Can the subwoofer just be used occasionally; that is can it be turned off and on?

1) Dialogue clarity is excellent! 2) The sub can be turned down via the remote control so that it is virtually inactive. You can also adjust the sound EQ to turn the bass up or down to your preference. I found the LG SJ8 to really perform well in not overpowering the bass like some subs can do.

Immerse yourself in music or movies with this LG TONE Studio wearable speaker. It has four drivers to let you experience three-dimensional surround sound and feel low-frequency vibrations from the bass through your body. This LG TONE Studio wearable speaker is Bluetooth compatible for easy connection to your smart devices.

so this is a speaker that you wear around your neck? Does the sound work with and without the ear buds?

Yes. There is a switch on the neckband that allows you to easily switch between headphone mode and external speaker mode. You can set the unit down and listen without wearing it, but the sound quality is much much better when worn as intended.
