Not a bad movie if you're a fan of Kristen Stewart

I read some reviews on IMDB that suggested that "Americans" won't like this movie because it doesn't wrap everything up in a neat little package for you by the end of the story. I was insulted by this comment. There have been a lot of good movies that had ambiguous endings.
But this movie doesn't just fail to wrap everything up - it doesn't really answer *any* of the questions it poses. This movie has an ambiguous begining, middle part, and ending too, heh. So be prepared for that if you buy it. Much of the story is kind of implied in places, and thus open to interpretation.
This IS a ghost story, no question about that. That's about the only thing certain.
And... people like me who find Kristen Stewart to be incredibly attractive will appreciate a couple of the scenes in particular, heh.
Some people say she can't act, but I've never really understood that. She does a fine job here, as far as I'm concerned, but some folks might not like the *character* that much. She's kind of sullen and disillusioned throughout the film.
Watching this movie is a little bit like... listening to an acquaintance tell you her ghost stories in such a way that you actually believe them. (That is, IF you had an acquaintance who happened to travel around Europe's fashion meccas buying expensive costumes for a famous model and trying to figure out whether or not she believes in ghosts.) Just as when someone you know tells a story about something that happened to him or her once, there isn't necessarily a well-planned story arc. There isn't any kind of resolution to THIS story at all except to know for sure that ghosts are real in it.
Did you ever see that movie The Ninth Gate? This is a little bit like that, but not as good. But like that movie, there's not much of an ending here either.
I would recommend this to a friend who likes Kristen Stewart, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it to anyone else. Maybe French people, LOL.

I picked this up with my work associate for our office. She has one just like it at home, and swears by it (which is much better than swearing *at* it).
I've only had to use it once so far but it works quite well. The way the head pivots is very cool - that's a new thing for me. This vacuum definitely sucks, but when you're reading a vacuum review, that's actually a recommendation.

This tiny, itsy-bitsy little microwave does more or less what it's supposed to. We've had no major issues with it so far, but MAN - it's weak. We put this in our office, and I'm used to a much more potent microwave at home, but you'll find you have to adjust / increase the time for all the stuff you want to cook or heat with this - at least for stuff coming right out of the freezer.
It's kind of an adventure figuring out how long you ACTUALLY need to heat something since the directions on your food packages are usually developed for more powerful microwaves than this. And I don't mean an exciting adventure - like grabbing a golden idol off a pedestal, swapping a bag of sand of similar weight, and running for your life from a giant boulder that wants to crush you. I mean a stupid adventure like walking back and forth to the microwave, cursing all the while because you have to keep heating your food over again cause it wasn't in there long enough, and eventually eating food that's either undercooked and gross or overcooked (because you guessed wrong) and still gross.
If I'd been spending my own money - or if I'm ever in the market for a new microwave at home - I'd not have pinched pennies. Get one with more than 700 watts.

You can find factory overclocked versions of the GTX 1080 chipset with the same amount and type of on-board memory from other manufacturers (e.g. EVGA), and for the same price or less. Apparently NVIDIA only markets their retail cards through a limited set of retail channels, perhaps to avoid competing with A) their direct-to-consumer sales and / or B) their licensees in all of the same venues they sell.
This card seems to have good quality, is reasonably-sized, and was easy to install - like any other PCI E card would be. I used this to replace a pair of GTX 970s (running in SLI) and so far I do see a slight upgrade in performance compared to that SLI solution. The retail packaging is nearly decadent. The chipset name (GEFORCE GTX) lights up in green LEDs so you can see it through the window of your rig. Too bad all my other LEDs inside the case are red... wonder if I can change the color of the LEDs on the card.

What's not to like about this refrigerator / freezer combo? We put this in our office and it works just as well as my much more expensive one at home, at least so far. The finish is nice, the design is sleek and modern, and there's plenty of space inside for such a small fridge. There's only one ice cube tray, but hey, at this price I think you can afford to buy another if you need it.

So far, so good with this mouse and keyboard. I've had the duo for several weeks and I've had no problems. There's been no flakiness with IR interference or signal loss, so far, and everything does what it should. The keyboard itself is a little irritating in how little resistance the keys offer. I knew it wasn't mechanical when I bought it, but it still isn't my favorite keyboarding experience. It works just fine though. On the plus side, I love having discrete media controls (including play / pause, next and previous tracks, and volume controls) without having to hold a function key to use them. The simple LCD display also shows remaining battery life, which is nice touch.
The mouse, meanwhile, has been nothing but great. I've had no problems or issues whatsoever with the mouse.

Fresh, fascinating take on "first contact"

Here we have some legitimate science fiction, and it's definitely thought provoking as good SF should be. This could have been adapted from a story by Isaac Asimov or Phillip K. Dick or someone. (Eh actually I'm not sure it wasn't based on a Dick story.)
Anyway, the plot is actually pretty original, the characters are mostly interesting, the dialog is good, and the tone is just about pitch perfect.
I suspect that those who are parents might appreciate this even more than I did. I saw it twice in the theater, and it was well worth it.
Initially, I did kind of feel like they played a little bit of dirty pool with the plot at one point - I don't want to say more and spoil it for someone who hasn't seen it - but after more consideration and some good conversations with my friends and family, I reached a different conclusion. This will mess with your mind a little bit, but not in bad way.
This is the kind of movie that provokes interesting discussions with the people you watch it with - and the kind of thing you're happy to recommend to anyone who asks.
It's not perfect; there are some irritatingly stereotypical (and rather flat) characters driving key plot points - but overall this is a very worthwhile movie.

I've never been a huge fan of Ben Affleck, but I can't deny that he does a pretty good job sometimes. This is one of those times.
The main characters are interesting, and who doesn't like Anna Kendrick?
The plot is not entirely original, but it's interesting enough to keep the attention. The characters are good enough that I'd like to see a sequel.

This is actually an excellent CD. I'll generally buy anything that Megadeth puts out, and often it takes a few listens before I start to appreciate a new CD from the band. This time it was different; I liked or REALLY liked all of the tracks the very first time I listened to each of them, which was a refreshing surprise.
There's nothing too original here, but there is some variety in the same veins as other recent Megadeth albums. This is definitely worth adding to your collection - if you're like me, you're gonna love it.

I have an HP Pheonix with a GTX 980. Can this be a direct replacement for the 980?
It can be if the motherboard supports it and your case will fit it. I'm not familiar with the HP Phoenix so you might want to check the specifications for the measurements on this card and then see if there's enough room inside your case.
Then, make sure your motherboard has a PCI Express 3.0 slot (preferably x16). If so, you can pop out the 980, stick this bad boy in there, and you should see a substantial performance upgrade.

My keyboard keeps capitalizing any first letter even wit numerals in from of it. Why? It prevents passwords.
Are you sure it's the keyboard causing this? It sounds to me like it might be something specific to either an application or maybe an OS setting.
If it happens in every application (including Notepad, Word, your Web browsers, etc.) you might try the keyboard with a different computer just to see if you get the same results. If not, it might be some setting in Windows causing this. If it happens on some other computer too, then maybe there is some issue with the keyboard, but that seems unusual to me.
If it only happens in one application, it's probably a setting in the app itself.
