Mostly average but highly comfortable
on September 29, 2022

This mouse is not a bad mouse... but it falls short in some areas.
Pros:
- Look good!
- Comfortable
Cons:
- Uses a AA battery (not rechargeable)
- Plastic feel
- Doesn't really add any specific Mac features
Unboxing:
The unit comes in a small box with the usual documentation, the mouse, a Logi Bolt adaptor and a AA battery. I was surprised it uses a battery since most mice I have used in recent years are rechargeable.
Setup:
I first trying paring with bluetooth, pairing is easy, there are three computers you can hook up using the button on bottom. Performance is much better when using the Logi Bolt adaptor though.
Use:
The mouse is indeed comfortable. The size is good for medium sized hands as well. The buttons are very nicely placed for easy reach and can be found without looking. I somewhat expected some sort of horizontal scroll wheel or a button to switch windows, none are present, just the vertical wheel, left and right click and forward and back buttons. Essentially, the only thing that makes it "for Mac" is the white themed color. There appear to be no Mac specific features. The horizontal scroll is substituted by holding a side button while using the vertical wheel. It does indeed horizontal school that way but it is not natural feeling. There is also a DPI switch which does its job and is useful for large displays.
I highly recommend downloading the Logitech Options software. It will allow you to customize the buttons on your mouse to your liking.
Overall, it is a reliable mouse. It does the job well and looks nice in the process. I wouldn't expect any special features. The website states the one AA battery will provide up to two years of battery, that seems like a bold claim to me but battery life did not seem to be a concern in my time with the mouse.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Overall good that works as advertised
on September 22, 2022
Posted by: psyclopps
Summary: An overall good Micro SD card for your Nintendo Switch (or any other device) that has good speeds.
Pros:
- Good overall speeds
- Fortnight branded (comes with an item)
- Easy to use
Cons:
- Included item is kind of minor
Unboxing:
The item comes in a typical micro SD package with San Disk / Fortnite branding. The item is in the usual hard to open plastic that you will likely need scissors to get into. Be careful as there is an item code inside the packaging as well you do not want to destroy.
Use:
Plugging it right into my Nintendo switch for the first time, it appears to be empty and worked right away. I transferred games to it at good speed. Running Fortnite on this card seems to load in comparable time to loading it on internal memory. No complaints here!
Benchmarks:
I plugged it into my PC to test it using CrystalDiskMark. The card is rated at read speed of 100 MB/s and write speed of 90 MB/s. Using the default benchmark settings, I was able to get a bit less at around 97 MB/s read and 88 MB/s write (pictured). This performance is still good, just not quite as advertised.
Included items:
There is a code to redeem the “angular flow” skin for Fortnite. It is a “cool” looking (blue waves) skin that is subtle. I would have preferred a free character skin but hard to complain since it is free with the item.

Amazing little device for Samsung and others
on September 15, 2022
Posted by: psyclopps
Summary:
Better than expected! I was pleasantly surprised by the value and quality of this device. It even comes with a high end cable. I was very happy with the compactness for travel. This is a must buy over the name brand.Great for Samsung phones or tablets.
Liked:
-Size
-Style
-Compact
-Braided cable
-Long cable
Disliked:
-An additional USB-C or USB-A port would be nice
Unboxing:
The packaging is your typical Insignia branded style of white with blue accents. Inside the box you will find the charger, a 6’ braided cable and the usual warranty documents.
First impression:
The first thing that hit me was that the unit is smaller than your typical 45W charge. Partly this is due to the more square shape. I am not sure if it is using GaN or not but it is small enough I could not be surprised. I could not find information if GaN was in use or not on the website. The plugs collapse for travel making the charger more compact. I was also surprised that the cable is a braided 6’ 100W cable, overkill for this charger but very welcome since I can use it for charging my laptop with a larger adapter.
Use:
Great! I use it for work every day. It fits easily into a bag, and stays mostly cool. I tested it with a Galaxy S22 Ultra, a Galaxy S22 and an iPad Pro 11 which support 45W, 25W and 18-30W respectively. All devices charged in the same amount of time that my stock 45W charger provided. I attached a photo showing all the supported charging outputs.

Great for kids, maybe for some adults!
on August 18, 2022
Posted by: psyclopps
Summary:
These are great for kids. Trying them out as an adult, they sound good for adults too (if a little small). The design is nice and connectivity is on point. Audio quality is great.
Pros:
- Sound great
- Volume limits
- Comfort
- Wireless or wired
- Ability to share with other units
Cons:
- No app support
- Long term durability
Unboxing:
There is not much in the packaging. There are the headphones, a aux to aux cable (for hooking up to devices or to another headset for sharing, a USB-C to USB-A cable for charging and basic documentation.
Setup:
Using wireless, setup is easy. Simply turn it on and pair it with your device. If you are pairing with a new device there is a bluetooth button to hold prior to pairing. There is no supported app, the j-lab headphone app exists but gives contestant errors with these headphones so I am thinking it is simply not supported.
Use:
Trying them as an adult for this review, I was very surprised at how good these are! They fit a little small being child headphones, but the cushions are comfy, the build quality is plastic and audio quality is very good. I can easily see my kid using these for long periods with no comfort concerns. There is a hidden switch under the right top portion of the fabric which controls volume limits. When on, it will ensure the volume stays at safe levels. When off, it takes off the limit but I do not think it got very loud even then.
Audio quality.
I listened to a “Recent releases” playlist on spotify to test this out. In short, I was very very surprised at how good these sound for kids headphones. There is more emphasis on bass and I did not hear many highs come out but the overall output was enjoyable. Voices are clear. Listening to these made me more curious as to what the adult versions sound like. Good job Jlab!
Misc:
If you have multiple children, you can hook up their headphones via a wire as there are two inputs to each headset. That way, if you have one headset streaming a movie in the back of a car or airplane on a tablet, both kids can easily hear.
My only concern was with the plastic build and foam ear cups, how long they will last at my child's hands. If you kid likes to break things or pick at things, these might be torn apart in a few months. If your child is able to take care of their belongings, there should be no concern.

Great for gaming and music for many hours
on August 12, 2022
Posted by: psyclopps
Summary:
These are a very well-built set of headphones with a creative design, good sound and good ease of use. It is only compatible with PC and PS5 so be aware of that prior to purchase if you are intending to use with an Xbox.
Pros:
-Stylish
-Good quality build
-Good overall audio quality
-Good microphone
-USB-C
-RF Dongle
Cons:
-Software is a little too simple
-Initial setup issues on PC
-Limited audio resolution/bitrate on PC
-No Xbox compatibility
Unboxing:
The box is typical Sony styling which means basic design. It is a white and purple box with few details of the product. Inside there is warranty information, a USB-C to USB-A cable for charging, an RF dongle and the headphones.
Setup:
I primarily used this with my PC. I first charged it which took an hour or two. I first tried it with the USB dongle. If using on a laptop, the USB dongle sticks out a good 1 ½” or so. The adaptor has a switch on the side for PC or PlayStation. I tried to download the Sony INZONE Software from the Sony website but each time the website crashed. I found another link on the Sony India site and it worked like charm. Hopefully this issue is fixed soon. Within the software I also tried to setup Spatial audio which requires a Sony login but again the link did not work. I gave it a few days and it did start to work so maybe it was just a bad day. The Spatial audio setup requires you download a Sony 360 Spatial Sound Personalizer app where you will take photos of your ears to better map your ear shape to the headphone settings. It is a bit weird on your phone as you must turn your head, but it does the job.
Music:
I went straight into listening to some music in the Master setting of Tidal. Sunroof by Nicky Youre, Dazy sounds bright with crisp bass, nice details, clear vocals and pronounced highs. Next, listening to Patient No. 9 by Ozzy Ozbourne feat. Jeff Beck, I was quite happy with the quality. The recording itself is a bit muddy but that is no fault of the headphones. The bass is very deep on this song being somewhat overwhelming, but the guitars come through clearly as do the drums. The highs from the electric guitars seem to be nicely reproduced. The separation between channels is also noticeably clear on this song. I spend a good amount of time listening to music and was happy with the results.
But... when I dug into sound settings. I realized that audio using the RF USB adaptor is limited to 16 bit, 48000hz audio only. I was surprised that streaming quality was limited and plugged it in directly via USB. The settings were exactly the same. I have been able to get up to 24bit 96000hz with other headphones including other Sony branded ones, so I was surprised this was the case.
I also hooked up via Bluetooth and it was the lowest quality to my ears with lots of details missing due to the limited stream rate of SBC.
For music, the best setting I found in the INZONE app was FLAT, Spatial Audio – OFF, and Dynamic range control – OFF. Any other setting just sounded wrong to me.
Gaming:
I played a decent amount of Overwatch using these headphones. I had no complaints from the other players as to the quality of my mic quality. I did turn on spatial audio for this along with the Dolby Atmos setting in the game. The two technologies are different, but you could indeed hear a decent amount of surround effects in the game, and it did help to determine where the noises were coming from. The headphones have buttons that correspond to “game” and “chat” so you can quickly switch between those modes. I did not really notice any difference when I did but I assume it changes the EQ for each.
Comfort of these headphones is ideal for long gaming sessions. The headphones have great weight distribution, so you forget you are wearing them. They stay cool with the earcups feeling like they are a microfiber material filled with memory foam.
The only reason I took off a star is because the PC software feels half baked and there is only 16-bit audio support.

Fun, stylish and practical!
on August 5, 2022
Posted by: psyclopps
Summary:
Loads of fun to take around town. A practical ride that is convenient for storage. Easy to learn to use as well as a conversation starter.
Pros:
-Fun styling
-Fast
-Small learning curve
-Adequate range
-Durable
Cons:
-Not very good in non-electric mode
-Bulky
-Slow charging time
Unboxing / assembly:
There is minor assembly required. Upon unboxing, you will attach the handle to the base and screw in four screws with the included wrench. The unit comes in the collapsed position so you will need to open it. Last, the instructions recommend a change of five hours initially.
First use:
I have never used an e-scooter prior to this so there was a small learning curve. To activate the motor, you will need to get the scooter rolling using your own power initially with a strong kick. I noticed it takes a decent amount of effort to get it rolling initially and I would not recommend it for non-electric use as it takes a decent amount of effort to keep motion using your own power. Once you hit the throttle the initial kick feels powerful and startling. I found it is easier to just go straight to 100% throttle from the kick then to slowly throttle up. This will require you to adjust your speed settings (more later). After a little practice I was zipping around the neighborhood.
Daily use:
I mainly use this to do nearby chores such as pick up milk at the market, grab a snack somewhere, go get a coffee or simply go for a ride. If I lived in a more urban setting, I can see this being very handy to get around. It is overall fast, gets good range (15 miles or so) before needing a charge.
Using it takes a bit of learning. The power button does a lot. A double tap changes the speed setting (eco, low and high). Pressing it once changes the color of the board / turns on the safety lights. The unit weighs about 26 pounds so it isn't necessarily hard to transport such as if you need to get on a bus but be aware it isn't exactly featherweight either.
I found turns are overall wide so it sometimes made sense to turn off the throttle when doing a sharp turn. As mentioned earlier, the device has a lot of resistance when using foot power to push and not using the motor. It is clearly designed to use the motor as the primary method of locomotion.
The unit also comes with a pump which is a nice convenience. It is small and can be packed if needed but I would overall leave it in the garage.
Charging:
The power adaptor outputs at 63W and uses a 1-pin plug on the left side of the device. The display has a charging status when powered on, but the charge time takes about five hours so ensure you plug it in at night if you use it daily.
This is an outstanding entry level e-scooter that is high build quality and practical for short range trips.

Great all purpose printer.
on July 11, 2022
Posted by: psyclopps
Summary: A great all around office printer. There are a few quirks but overall it works well and produces great printouts.I am very happy with this printer overall.
Pros:
-Good looking printer
-Multiple inks for a wide combination of color
-Lots of connectivity options
-Amazing quality prints
Cons:
-Small ink cartridges
-Small paper tray
-Screen has to be completely flipped open to print
-Small “tray arm” for printed papers to rest on
Unboxing: THere is not much to be found in the box other than the printer, some “starter” ink cartridges (limited amount of ink inside), documentation and cables.
Setup: Setup is similar to any other printer in that you have to remove lots of plastic, install ink cartridges, setup the printer for your network via USB, ethernet or wifi and you are gtg. It was instantly detected on my Mac Mini and my Windows 11 laptop with no issues. You can also install a canon app to allow printing and scanning services to be better integrated with your phone or tablet.
Use: Photos look great when printed. The PPM is rather low but the quality of prints is high as a result. You are able to feed paper via the tray (rather limited capacity), and a rear feeder. There is also an ADF on the top for scanning, fax and copying. If printed at the highest quality, photos look almost pro quality and I did not see any noticeable dithering unless I looked very closely.
When printing I got a few errors, initially saying to open the front panel to print. I lifted it but it continued to give the error. Come to find out, it has to be fully 90 degrees open to operate. I found this kind of weird since it means the screen is 90 degrees and might change how you handle the interface. A little motor would have been nice to open and close the panel so you don't have to do this manually each time. The paper collection tray arm is very dinky as well and papers might slip off after printing if you have a large stack.

Good overall security package
on July 7, 2022
Posted by: psyclopps
Summary:
Great protection for PC, Mac and more. It is more useful on desktop platforms than mobile in my opinion but many will find some utility. Lots of cloud backup and extra bonuses. I used the Platinum version which has 20 licenses.
Pros:
Good interface
Peace of mind
Lots of extras
LOTS of licenses
Cons:
Some settings buried in menus
Battery drain on mobile
Back up slow
Installation:
Downloading from the website is easy. So is activation by simply entering your key. Once installed you will need to restart the computer and setup basic features such as scan frequency, back up folders, VPN, password manager and more. Not all features are required to be set up.
Use:
It's always hard to say how effective the software is since I am not trying to actively download any threats but no complaints in security from my point.
If you are a crypto miner, as with most security software you will need to use exemptions to prevent the software from blocking and placing your program in quarantine. This is somewhat cumbersome since you have to dig through a few menus to get there.
Cloud backup is useful for important folders but I found it slow to backup. But, it adds Peace of mind.
The interface UI is pleasant and relatively easy to get around. All major items have their own menu screen for further tinkering.
Mobile:
I really like the features I. The android and iOS app security scanning is more prevalent in Android since iOS does not allow such scans but both versions allow for VPN/ secure wifi features. The app will detect if you are in an insecure network and automatically switch you to a VPN. Keep in mind I noticed lower battery life when on a VPN since I am guessing it keeps the app awake to keep the connection present. I also noticed increased location use on Android installations.
Mac:
I also installed the app on my Mac Mini with great results. The software has come a long way over the years and mostly mirrors the PC version with its interface. No complaints here. Setup has a few more steps since Mac OS requires password inputs or touch ID to change OS settings.

Flawlessly connected, Fiercely protected. Austere is moving beyond the primary function of providing power, to a place where performance, safety, and design come together to define what you should expect in power. Using our PureFiltration technology, Austere Power cleans noise and artifacts, that can travel through power lines and keeps them from impacting your devices. In addition, the Omniport USB provides rapid charge and protection for low-voltage devices. Austere also employs flameless MOV circuits and thermal protected outlets, keeping you safe from a home electrical fire. And if anything were to happen, our Component Guarantee promises to protect your equipment from damage, regardless of its value, whenever your devices are plugged into an Austere Power product. And because how it looks is as important as what it does, Austere’s proprietary aDesign philosophy elevates function through purposeful engineering and sleek design. Our surge protector power strips have a brushed aluminum housing, which creates an elegant way to power your home electronic devices. Always. Not all power is created equal. You may not know it, but your surge protectors can wear out over time. Joules–the protective layer of energy that defends your components–are finite. And when they are gone, it leaves your system completely unprotected from shock or surge. Traditional surge protectors only last a year or two so if you can’t remember when you last refreshed your home’s power, it’s likely time to do it now. And to take out the guesswork of when your Austere Power needs to be replaced, the blue protection shield icon on the Power unit will cease to illuminate once the Joules have been used. But that won’t happen for a long time because Austere Power is rated to last more than five times as long as most power products and guarantees to safeguard your system with our Component Guarantee.

Amazing product I didn't know I needed!
on June 26, 2022
Posted by: psyclopps
Summary: I have seen all levels of surge protectors before from simple ones that cost a few dollars to more premium ones that come with a guarantee in the event your equipment is damaged but I don’t think I have ever seen such a premium one as the Austere VII series before. In addition, it is designed for the times with modern styling and support for USB-C.
Pros:
Looks cool!
Braided cord
USB A & USB C outlets (up to 45W)
Cool blue lights
Mounting ability
Nicely spaced outlets
Cons:
None!
Unboxing:
One would think they are opening a high end Apple product when opening this thing. It comes in a really cool box with blue accents and faux velvet lining inside. Other than the device, there is not much else in the box other than a product guarantee booklet (registration) and a quick start guide.
Setup:
Not much to say for this one… plug it in, plug in your appliances and turn it on! Though it is advertised for home entertainment centers (due to EMI/RFI filtration), I plugged mine into the computer area for testing.
Use:
Since there isn’t much to do once it is plugged in here are my overall observations. There are three cool LEDs on the front. One is for Power, one for Ground and one for “Protected” showing it is doing its job. I shifted some of the things I usually plug in from a power brick to the USB outlets. There are two USB-A plugs and three USB-C plugs. One of them is for 45W using PD which is perfect for some phones and ultrabooks. I have mine hanging on the wall for easy use, especially for the USB outlets.
The device comes with a lifetime guarantee for peace of mind. The braided cable is a nice touch and I imagine adding a little more EMI shielding but it is thick! The plug has a cool diamond accent too which doesn’t seem to have any practical use but sure looks cool!

Amazing mouse for productivity
on June 16, 2022
Posted by: psyclopps
Summary: Probably the best mouse I have ever owned. It has outstanding customization features for major productivity products (Office, Adobe, etc), great ergonomics and high quality build.
Pros:
Build quality
Comfort
Performance
Style
Ease of use
Customization
Battery life
Bluetooth or USB wireless
Cons:
Dongle is USB-A only
Unboxing / setup:
The package is small and has the essentials, the mouse, a dongle (USB-A) and warranty info. Setup is easy. With the dongle you can just plug it into the system and the mouse is automatically paired. If you want to connect via bluetooth, long press the connection button on the bottom and pair via your computer. I highly recommend you install the Logitech software from the website as it will allow you to customize buttons/wheels with specific programs such as excel, photoshop and more.
Build quality:
The quality of this device is outstanding. It uses some sort of magnetic scrolling so the wheels feel buttery smooth. Button clicks are good and the device feels sturdy.
Use:
I test with a windows laptop, a Mac Mini and a Galaxy Tab 8 Ultra in Dex mode. All devices are easily supported or paired to the mouse. The PC and mac allow for 8k DPI mode which for me was a bit too fast but for some will allow insane amounts of accuracy. The scroll wheels are very useful, especially the horizontal wheel. On Mac it is great for scrolling through books, magazines and more whereas in productivity software it is great for navigation on spreadsheets, moving around zoomed photos and so on. The thumb rest area has a hidden button that you can use for multiple things. I use it for selection between open windows similar to alt-tab.
Bluetooth seemed a little laggy to me in comparison to using the dongle but it was still useful. The USB-A dongle was a non issue for me but if you are using this with a device that is only equipped with USB-C this might be an issue without an adapter.
I would recommend this to a friend!

SynopsisThe last time the earth was ravaged, animals were saved two by two in a massive ark, peacefully sailing to a new beginning, or so the story goes. This time, we're not so lucky. And you rose from the ground to face your worst nightmare. Hordes of mutants killing without a thought, bandit gangs wreaking havoc throughout the already defunct wasteland, a looming Authority seizing maniacal power and holding secrets — this is what remains of humanity. The world as you know it is gone, but if any world is to stand in its place, there's only one person left who can raise it up from the ashes — you. That is, if you can survive the Rage.Step up to the challenge and climb into the wasteland in the first-person shooter that flings you to the edge of the earth and the brink of extinction. Game was not tested properly
By skullboy88 from Los Angeles, CA
First of all the reason for such a low rating is that the game is not playable. Right out the box. Now, I have been building pc's for over 10 years and have sunk hundreds of dollars into my rig to play the most demanding games. And I do. The problem is that ID software sent out a game to the public that is not finished. Google, rage graphics problems and you will find a magnitude of arcticles about poor graphics bad drivers and other issues. AMD and Nvidia have been working for a driver patch but reports from many say they do not work to fix the tearing and poor rendering . People are paying $60.00 for a pc game. Dont you think it should work right away without having to wait for a patch?

To be fair, a patch has since been release which fixes many of these PC problems including better support for video cards and settings.

Horrid Sound
By DELienz from Delaware
I had pair of Sony Headphones that I bought a few years ago for approx. $50 dollars... Sounded Amazing, but I recently ran then over with my car... Anyway bought these assuming the sound would be similar and also compensate for my only complaint with my other heardphones which was falling constantly out of my ear during workouts. Turns out these are more expensive but that sound terrible. Tried changing the setting on my IPOD and there is no overcoming the lack of bass. I am a auidiophile and I do listen to music a lot of double bass and drums so bass is something I must have in a headphone. If that's what you looking for don't buy these. I'm confident cheaper headphones with the same quality sound can be obtained so I would not recommend these to anyone...

Balanced Armature
June 28, 2012
Balanced Armature headphones are designed to sound like the original recording. Most headphones these days are "dynamic armature" which are designed kind of like a hardware equilizer where bass is usually most important. Any of these balanced armature headphones are aimed specifically at audiophiles as they repoduce very true to original sound with detailed mid ranges and highs.

Will every unit come with two ethernet ports? Can they be used for wired backhaul or direct ethernet?

Yes, each unit comes with two ethernet. I haven't tried wired backhaul but you can indeed plug them all directly to the router for direct ethernet.

Can they work independently? Is there a microphone in each piece so you can just switch between the 2 to gain the most amount of battery time?

Yes they do! Each earbud gets its own independent stream so you can use them exactly as you describe.

Capture up to 1440p video with this Nextbase 522GW dash camera. Alexa enables hands-free control through voice commands, and Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi technologies sync with compatible smartphones for quick access to important footage. This Nextbase 522GW dash camera has ports for connecting compatible camera modules for easy expansion.

How does Alexa give you directions to your desired destination? Do they show up on the screen, or is this Alexa feature not available on this dash cam?

Alexa is present but it does not integrate into any build in GPS as far as I can tell. There are other devices such as the Garmin speak which combines a dash cam with Garmin + Alexa navigation via a skill but there is no screen on that device.

Garmin Speak™ Plus with Amazon Alexa is what you love about Amazon Alexa, now in your vehicle. Use voice control for hands-free access to music, news, navigation and more. Plus, a built-in dash cam gives you forward collision and lane departure warnings.

Can you please tell me more about the dash cam. Can it be controlled by voice or a remote button? Where does it store the videos and how can I get them? Through wifi or only sd card?

It is simply always recording. There is a separate app you must download if you want to view on your phone. It will connect to your phone via wi-fi but you can take out the Micro SD card if you want to plug the videos in to your computer. There is an overlay option which tells the drivers speed and a little more info as well. It also records in car audio.

If maps stay up to date , is the system using my data plan ? Garmin & TomTom use satellites , what does this system use ? Does this system in any way use my data plan and if so , how ?

I did a trip to a national park using this device. It appears there are no downloaded maps as the moment I lost my data connection the device didn't know what to do. It seems it is always using your data plan as long as you are using pretty much any of its features other than dashcam.

With all these features, Does it scan the road and next to the road for objects such as DEER ? If so will it alert you ?

From my experience, no. There is only lane detection warning and collision detection warning as added safety features.

Is there any way to do talk to text in tablet mode? Or make the keyboard swype at least?

There is no dictation function but there is a few keyboard settings that could help. You could configure the touch keyboard in split layout so you can use only your thumbs on each side of the screen to type. It takes a little practice but is useable when you get used to it. There is a also a "Scribble" mode where you can write on the screen and it will turn it into text.
